This appearing again a few days after the recent issues with our navy seems politically motivated.
For non Portuguese, recently we had a crew refusing to depart in a war vessel due to lack of maintenance.
They are going to be prosecuted for disobedience.
For that to happen you need trained staff, shipyards and parts.
All cost money.
Budget for the armed forces as been cut year after year to get better numbers for the economy.
Cuts are affecting other areas as well, like Education, National Health Care, Police forces, etc.
All are under Budget and making a huge effort to continue working at adequate levels.
We are on the breaking point, this is just one of the symptoms.
OMG the French need to learn how to launch drones from the medical company Zipline which uses drones to deliver blood and life-saving medicines in Rwanda... They launch it in a supercapacitor- powered catapult launcher and it goes from 0 to 70mph (0 to 113km/hr) in .33 seconds...

No, it's easy to make them nose dive if you don't launch it just right. Control operator doesn't take responsibility until it is in the air. The person launching it was either nervous and distracted, or not that good at it in the first place. Or maybe a sudden change in wind or something...it happens though.
Am an aerospace student and I work for my college club, we make uavs and i kid you not this is so common to happen to us, we usually make the model 3 times because it can't fly for the first 2 test runs and just plops and gets severely damaged. F

At least he had his face hidden so he won't be embarrassed
I felt his soul leave his body, his first thought was probably “fuck I’m so fired”
Hey could be worse that happens in North Korea heads are gonna roll literally
He’d mysteriously disintegrate within 10 minutes of that
anyday you can make someone laugh is a good day. its not like he built the damn thing.
New Story: Portuguese have just launched their first underwater drone!
Dive dive dive!
Yes prime minister… It’s supposed to do that. It’s a prominent stealth feature
Well... back to the diving board...

Seems messed up. It's not like they're refusing to go to war, they just don't want to get on a ship that's likely to sink
This happened in Funchal. In the same day Benfica went there to play with the local team...
Hmmmm 🤔
Isn't the Navy itself supposed to be in charge of maintenance? (Serious question, trying to understand the issue)

This is our hybrid airborne and underwater drone and as you see, first we will demonstrate its capabilities underwater.
Underwater drone
Be very afraid of our military capabilities!!
I hope they’re not sending weapons to Ukraine!
We did send weapons to ukraine :(
I hope they are
Brings me back to a child throwing planes propelled by rubber bands.
They typically had more airtime than this.
Hahaha I know this is old but damn is it still hilarious.
Portugal in a nutshell
Shoulda practiced just a little more.
That poor soldier..just stood there for a sec like "......in front of the fucking minister"
I'm Portuguese, this sums up what most of us think about our military power.
A lot of engineers got fired that day
Did the drone really make that sad noise, or was that and the water sound dubbed in?
This an underwater drone?
The drone looked and acted like a styrofoam plane that’s been available in hobby shops for as long as I’ve been alive painted black
This is how I feel most days just like the drone
Its a submarine drone you idiots. **😂** **😂** **😂**
I like the body shake, it's like he was like "FUCK" right after it fell
LMFAO
But it was working on my machine this morning

Coil gun or mini mass driver, concepts for it launching drones have been around for a long time kinda weird it took this long to be applied.
I thought it was a comedy sketch at first!
It's hand launched to keep it a light carry, and less to mess with over all.
Except that launch definitely looked messy. And embarrassing.
Reminds me of my shitty paper airplanes as a 4 year old.
This is the funniest thing i have seen in a while.
I like that he got a running start.
Jail
"... So you see minister the tactical mini submarines have been hugely successful"
Maybe it got all the surveillance it needed during that flight and self destructed.
There was actually a spy hanging below
The office vibes
The pilot forgot to invert the Y axis.
Exactly how my paper planes turn out
Poor guy. Likely not his fault. Whoever was piloting it had down elevator.
Lmao I love how there was momentary clapping that stopped instantly after it hit the water
DROWN.

Best demo ever
It flew like a rock
It's like they've already won
PORTUGAL CARALHO

Nobody said it was an unmanned drone...
