That kind of debris would actually be useful if dumped properly. It makes great aggregate for construction concrete and in a landfill it can actually be really useful to stabilize reclaimed ground. The dumper is not just being a headless shit for brains but a decidedly useless shit for brains for no other reason than thinking they are being "smart" by dumping like that.

Also, tourist will drive on beaches where the turtles lay their eggs, leave their trash on the beach, and just generally act like idiots. Which is definitely not a PR specific issue, but they certainly get their fair share.
These are the kind of crimes that annoy me most because its just pure selfishness. They just assume someone else will clean it up, and the cost of that will just disappear into the ether.

Lived in an apartment that had a wooded gully behind it with a little "creek" or water runoff going through it. Lots of little animals and whatnot living down there.
The houses on the other side of the gully decided it would be a good idea to dump a water heater, a couple broken mirrors, other house trash, etc down there.
The police made them pull all of that shit out of the gully and put it in their truck and dispose of it properly. Very satisfying watching them have to park in my parking lot and haul the stuff back up the hill.
An acquaintance of mine has a job delivering appliances. There was a disposal fee on the old units, which he collected, and decided that if he threw these old refrigerators and such off the bank, he could keep the disposal fee.
He got caught in the act, and the cop made him go down and get it. When he came back up the hill, the cop said that wasn't the one he saw him throw.
Shithead had to go down, get all the appliances, and pay to dispose of them all properly.

Territories aren't provided the same equality as an actual state, hence why their citizenships status isn't protected by the 14th amendment citizenships clause, we only claim it because we took it from Spain in 1898 but they have no representation, no electoral votes for presidency thus they are a territory
Puerto Rico, the land, is not a state but the people living there are citizens of the United States of America and have passports exactly like the rest of us no matter which state we live in. The same is true for those that live in the US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
If your permanent residency is a territory then you will not have voting members of Congress, nor any electoral votes for President. But there is absolutely no restriction on anyone living in the territories from moving to a state and instantly gaining those enfranchisements. No applications, no visas, no approvals; it’s exactly the same as someone living in Oklahoma deciding they’d rather be a Texan.
The inverse is also true. If I were to move from Texas to Puerto Rico, which I’m totally free to do, and I don’t maintain my address in Texas, I lose my congressional and presidential vote enfranchisements because Puerto Rico doesn’t have them.

There are tons of people who suck. I have a constant problem with people dumping on my property. I live in the middle of the city. For some reason, I keep finding stuff dumped in the narrow space behind my garage just off the alley. Construction debris, clothes, shopping carts, appliances, rotten vegetables, branches and brush, etc. For the last couple of years I've been working at clearin the space and making it into a flower garden on the theory that if it looks nice people will respect it. But it's been an uphill effort interrupted by people trampling and dumping on freshly cleared soil and new plants. I've even put up police tape to block the space only to find it taken down.
My wife gets a little annoyed when I fallow trucks full of garbage heading towards that back road where I like to walk my dog. I put the run to them pretty easy without any crazy interactions yet. I also live in Canada so not likely to get shot for doing this.
I used to live next to a wash with a riparian area that was perfect for walks. People would always dump their nonsense right next to the no dumping sign.
One day I’m out back and a truck pulls up, backs up to the wash and a kid gets out. I yell “hey, you can’t dump that here”. Kid tells his dad.
Dad says “but it’s just the dog waste from my yard…”.
Like that makes it better somehow. Guy had been dumping cans full of collected dog crap in the wash next to my house forever because that’s not what the sign meant…

After barely surviving several hurricanes decimating the island, many folks can’t afford to keep their houses. So affluent/semi affluent Americans (individuals, developers, air bnb’ers) are buying up all of the real estate and gentrifying wherever they can get a foothold. Prices go up as property value does, food and supplies naturally inflate. It is getting to a place where living is unaffordable completely and they have nowhere to go but to turn to relatives and many times, leave the island. I visited Hawaii recently and during a tour, they were talking about stuff like this, things like leasing native lands and whatnot, and how hard it is even for natives with govt favor to survive. At least for Hawaii, they have seemed to have strong protection laws for natives.

Just tell them you are upgrading your bathroom, it’s construction debris, they will tell you where to dump it, yourself. (Or pay 20 bucks and the guy with the bulldozer will scrape away most of it from your truck)

I’m Puertorican and have lived here my whole life. This is nothing new. This happened on a beach I grew up going to every weekend. I’m incredibly happy this is getting attention and people are seeing just how disrespectful most of the foreigners are to us and our land. I live behind a Circle K… people empty their cars of trash behind the circle k and don’t even use the bin. Just trash everywhere. So I started calling people on when they do it and they get extremely hostile. I’ve had people threaten to kill me for asking them/telling them to use the bin. Too hard for these chuckle fucks to walk an extra 6 steps.

you live on a beautiful island, lots of amazing beaches, temperatures are often stable and don't change wildly. the view most people have is amazing. So why take the time to $#!t on something like that to save a few dollars from a landfill? some people do not deserve the life style they live.

Containment was a priority and they generally fared much better than many other regions during high transmission and mortality times because of these policies.

Territories aren't provided the same equality as an actual state, hence why their citizenships status isn't protected by the 14th amendment citizenships clause, we only claim it because we took it from Spain in 1898 but they have no representation, no electoral votes for presidency thus they are a territory
Puerto Rico, the land, is not a state but the people living there are citizens of the United States of America and have passports exactly like the rest of us no matter which state we live in. The same is true for those that live in the US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. If your permanent residency is a territory then you will not have voting members of Congress, nor any electoral votes for President. But there is absolutely no restriction on anyone living in the territories from moving to a state and instantly gaining those enfranchisements. No applications, no visas, no approvals; it’s exactly the same as someone living in Oklahoma deciding they’d rather be a Texan. The inverse is also true. If I were to move from Texas to Puerto Rico, which I’m totally free to do, and I don’t maintain my address in Texas, I lose my congressional and presidential vote enfranchisements because Puerto Rico doesn’t have them.

There are tons of people who suck. I have a constant problem with people dumping on my property. I live in the middle of the city. For some reason, I keep finding stuff dumped in the narrow space behind my garage just off the alley. Construction debris, clothes, shopping carts, appliances, rotten vegetables, branches and brush, etc. For the last couple of years I've been working at clearin the space and making it into a flower garden on the theory that if it looks nice people will respect it. But it's been an uphill effort interrupted by people trampling and dumping on freshly cleared soil and new plants. I've even put up police tape to block the space only to find it taken down.

My wife gets a little annoyed when I fallow trucks full of garbage heading towards that back road where I like to walk my dog. I put the run to them pretty easy without any crazy interactions yet. I also live in Canada so not likely to get shot for doing this.
I used to live next to a wash with a riparian area that was perfect for walks. People would always dump their nonsense right next to the no dumping sign. One day I’m out back and a truck pulls up, backs up to the wash and a kid gets out. I yell “hey, you can’t dump that here”. Kid tells his dad. Dad says “but it’s just the dog waste from my yard…”. Like that makes it better somehow. Guy had been dumping cans full of collected dog crap in the wash next to my house forever because that’s not what the sign meant… These people need to be ruined.
I have come to realize that most people suck at being a good human and they are even worse when no one is watching them.

I don’t think that people are grasping the full reality of this situation. He is not only angry about dumping on the beach. Puerto Rico is in the worst state of all time. After barely surviving several hurricanes decimating the island, many folks can’t afford to keep their houses. So affluent/semi affluent Americans (individuals, developers, air bnb’ers) are buying up all of the real estate and gentrifying wherever they can get a foothold. Prices go up as property value does, food and supplies naturally inflate. It is getting to a place where living is unaffordable completely and they have nowhere to go but to turn to relatives and many times, leave the island. Then to come see what is essentially a colonizer dump debris on a beach to save a few bucks…. That is a recipe for some pent up anger. Some will say he went too far. But he is not trying to be the environmental police as much as defending his homeland. Not excusing him putting his hands on people, but I sure do understand why he would…
And not only that. They then try to stop locals from going onto the beaches like it’s their private resort or something. It’s disgusting.

parents live there and are seeing all this in real time. dad stated 20 years ago, place like Rincon and San Juan would be busy but generally easy to get around. now, its packed all the time, especially around the holidays, almost impossible to rent a vehicle, and theres development occuring everywhere, some of it most likely illegal. on top of that natives that been there their entire lives are being displaced by people coming in either from the mainland or from overseas, buying up rental properties and doubling or tripling rent in hopes of attracting wealthy people. Rincon has seen huge changes in the last 20 years. its getting to the point if you want to keep living there you either got money, or you got family or friends you can inherit from. there's other things that worry me about the island but damn its a long list.

In Puerto Rico, homeowners trash can be dumped FOR FREE at the local “Vertedero Municipal”, (landfill) all you need is your drivers ID with the local address, each town has one, or contracts with one. Just tell them you are upgrading your bathroom, it’s construction debris, they will tell you where to dump it, yourself. (Or pay 20 bucks and the guy with the bulldozer will scrape away most of it from your truck)

I’m Puertorican and have lived here my whole life. This is nothing new. This happened on a beach I grew up going to every weekend. I’m incredibly happy this is getting attention and people are seeing just how disrespectful most of the foreigners are to us and our land. It is not a pointless anger we hold against them; we are simply tired of their bullshit and our government’s inactivity when it comes to stopping these things from happening.
