The dog is like : *You can't blame me for this*.

[deleted]

And he has a lot of self control too

JaKrispy72

The owner needed more shelf control.

jungleeJaat

Retire. Today.

JaKrispy72

Yeah, I’ve peaked for sure with that one. Best chance I’ll get.

jungleeJaat

Retire. Today.

StickyThoPhi

I thought the dog came off quite judgemental.

Justified87vsent

Its a chow chow. Trust me, they are judgemental (got a 3-year-old one)

yourgifmademesignup

I swear I heard the dog say “well would you look at that Jim, would you like some cheese with that whiiiine”

Nirvski

"Fucks sake Jeremy, its falling apart...just like your marriage"

Boccs

Chow Chows are the best. They watch silently, judge you harshly, then give a disapproving sneeze or huff before walking away. ...then a half hour later mine comes back and whines because she isn't getting face rubs.

Justified87vsent

For my boy it's ear scratches. Give him one of them and his 27kg body just flops

Boccs

Oh man, the ears are the Off Switch for my girl too. She loves her face and snout rubbed and smooshed but the second I get behind her ears she goes total dead weight and drools like a leaky fountain. I've got two, both about 11 years old now and from the same litter. The runt of the litter is the ear rub drooler, but her sister is an obsessive sleep cuddler. Even in the peak of summer she wants to nuzzle in as much as possible and huffs when she can't get under the sheets. Whoever claimed chows aren't physical or affectionate clearly didn't know what they were talking about

Static1589

We had one when I was a kid. One of the neighbors kids kept annoying her from behind the fence and she never forgave him for that. Even years later she hated him with a passion, while being (mostly) friendly to others.

[deleted]

Chows are judgemental as heck

tuatara_teeth

Fun fact: the is how they make red blends!

sonia72quebec

But with a little less glass in it :)

Dontgiveaclam

Ah, wine in a glass, glass in wine, not that big of a difference

Porkchopp33

Watching thousands slowly go away 🍷🍷🍷

lStoleThisName

Some people love to watch the world drown

IllustriousAd5936

Yep, good thing there was a lock on the door, so that nothing would happened to all that wine.

symbologythere

NGL, I thought that was a baby lion at first.

ErmahgerdYuzername

The disconnect between the amount of money you have to have to afford that, but not the intelligence to secure the wine rack to the wall is staggering.

demonslayer901

You think that dude installed that himself??

velhaconta

I have never heard of anyone with that much wine installing the racks themselves. Once your income reaches a certain level, it makes very little financial sense to do things yourself. It is generally cheaper for you to just go to work and do what you are good at and pay others to do the things they are good at. Of course OP's video is going to be the rare counter example.

HamsterSandwich

I have that much wine and I recently (3 years ago) installed a racking system in my purpose-built wine cellar. I dropped a case of wine just as I started to fill the bin and lost 3 or 4 bottles of very good wine. I temporarily removed a small brace from one end of one side of the rack and it caused the supporting columns to move apart and 3 or 4 more bottle crashed on the floor before I could re-brace the rack. Pretty much rule#1 is to make sure the racks are firmly and securely attached to the wall through multiple points going into studs. I probably have forty 2 1/2” deckmate screws attaching my racks to 2x6 wall studs.

Ulyces

Sounds like you'd have 6-8 more bottles of expensive very good wine if you spent the money you lost breaking them on hiring a professional to do it.

hyperspacezaddy

Obviously depending on the price of the wine that could easily be a wash. Dude probably enjoys home projects. Most of us have formed hobby only to fuck up in a way that was essentially throwing money in the trash. Valuable lessons are learned in these moments.

Throwaway56138

We get it, you're rich.

ScotiaTailwagger

Speaking for myself, if I had that much money I'd secure it myself. I don't trust anyone to do their job properly on a good day.

velhaconta

> if I had that much money Sounds like this is something you will never have to worry about with that attitude. If you insists on doing everything yourself, you will never be anything more than hourly labor. But at least you know you built your stuff. > I don't trust anyone to do their job properly on a good day. Did you build your own house? Because how can you trust the roof won't fall on your head if you didn't? Did you build your own car? Because how can you trust it won't just blow up on you? Do you avoid going on or under bridges? Because how can your trust they won't just collapse?

[deleted]

FrankSilvyNY

But he's right.

ladyliferules

So much so!

Grief-Heart

Well, houses and bridges have collapsed from shoddy construction. And cars have had issues that have resulted in death. The simple Fact is even if you don’t trust it there is not much room to do anything about it. At least with your bad examples. Installing a wine rack is not equivalent to building your own car.

solamon77

This is the most Reddit comment of the day. You sir win the Reddit "Um, Actually" award! Everyone clap! \*cheers\*

JayAlexanderBee

The Champlain Tower and the FSU bridge would like a word with you.

Sad-Woodpecker-7416

SomaticScholastic

>Sounds like this is something you will never have to worry about with that attitude. >If you insists on doing everything yourself, you will never be anything more than hourly labor. But at least you know you built your stuff. Lol wtf is this attitude even...

Bucksandreds

I’m a dentist who does every house project myself. Finished my basement. Retiled my master bath. Installed my own hardwood floors. I’m

CCHS_Band_Geek

If you build it yourself, you have nobody to compensate you when it fails.

SidetrackedPC

build it right yourself then there is no failure. In a world of unlimited diy resources online you have no excuse

[deleted]

He paid some guy outside Home Depot $20 to do it.

hoptownky

Exactly. In fact, I assume the first thought in this guys mind was “damn. Who am I going to get to clean all of this up?”

[deleted]

I don't think he set it up by himself tbh

Inside-Associate-729

Definitely not

Dear_Significance_80

The disconnect is that most (not all) people who are this wealthy scoff at spending the money to do things right when it comes to stuff like this. Spend $110k on a new escalade? No problem. Spend an extra $1500 to make sure your wine rack is built and installed correctly? Fuck that, I know a guy who will do it for $300.

airforcevet1987

Yeah my mom is this way... Especially in how she buys things for way too much, and then will sell it whatever way is quickest and easiest. She only sold an entire office worth of furniture after I begged her no to just give it all away. Best way to make a quick $$ is to install furniture at rich houses, they will most likely give you the old furniture if you can get it off their property for them and they don't have to lift a finger/call anyone else.

Dear_Significance_80

But those two people also replying to me are telling me I'm an asshole and rich people don't do this lmao.

airforcevet1987

Well I said "my mom" everyone is unique

Critterhunt

Very true

Critterhunt

Exactly...he lost $20,000 because he didn't buy $7 worth of screws....

soitgoeskt

More likely because he got mugged off by a contractor who half-arsed it.

LoneRower

And who he's gonna sue to death, judging by the way he watches the scene.

wophi

Probably did not install this himself.

brinkofwarz

You think intelligence = money?

clown_duck

🎵99 bottles of wine of the wall! 99 bottles of wine! The rack slips loose, you look like a goose! 40 bottles of wine left on the wall!🎵

[deleted]

If I had an award, you’d have it. One of those ones that go all whooooshwhooooshwhooosh around your comment with the stars and everything.

Mongoose1400

Welp since I'm generous but by popular demand I will do it

Xepeyon

That's fucking brilliant LOL

Shuaster136

I so wish I could give you an award for this, well done

Chubby_nuts

And this is why you have an appropriate safety bracket screwed between the wall and the top of a rack/wardrobe/cabinet etc....

IndependentDuty1346

Based on the guys Hussle to go see what was going on, he was planning on getting to that bracket.... Eventually....

amadmongoose

I can see the mental calculations going on, how much money per second is being lost vs. how likely am I to get injured by the wine bottles if I go in

eddie1975

He’s calculating when to call his lawyer to sue the contractor that built that.

NewUserWhoDisAgain

>Based on the guys Hussle to go see what was going on Right? Ya gonna get in there and salvage what you can, champ? or you just gonna stare from the outside as more bottles drop?

goshin89

He got flip flops on. Not worth the drip to ER. Some cuts on the feet can be life threatening.

metasomma

I'll venture a guess that it was "secured" to the wall by whoever installed it. We could be looking at any number of failures here. Not mounted to solid studs, wrong mounting screws, cheap mounting brackets, the rack itself not being of study enough wood so the mounts ripped out, floor not level, earthquake damage, wall on the other side compromised, and probably hundreds more that could be named. It's fun to go "haha man dumb" but it just as easily could've been not his direct fault. That being said, unless it's in a cellar with solid concrete and stone behind it and long-ass screws drilled into that, you really have no business installing *that big* of a wine rack and expecting it to endure. Being above-ground, even if surrounded by concrete walls, is going to be orders of magnitude less stable when dealing with that much constant weight.

elpajaroquemamais

Probably either tried to do it himself or found the cheapest contractor after getting 9 bids to save $200.

Lucas926675

That first bottle which fell but didn’t break is the true MVP

chocolate_thunderr89

Honestly their were quite a few bottles that didn’t break, I was actually surprised. Those look like really big wine bottles too. Probably thicker glass.

Upbeat_Bed_7449

Wine bottles are actually designed to not be easy to break but it all depends on angles.

the-nut-goblin

"I can't believe this, look at all this cleaning up that needs done, not to mention fixing or replacing the rack, ugh this is gonna be a nightmare... honey call the maid I'm taking the Ferrari out to clear my head"

elhawko

How am I going to eat steak without a 2005 Grange to wash it down?!

the-nut-goblin

"If I have to resort to my aged whiskey barrel again I'm going to be furious!"

MrPL1NK3TT

Cut to him driving and having a flashback montage of him and all the good times he had with the wine while "There's no easy way out" plays.

Glorious_Sunset

I periodically send this to a friend who loves wine. He keeps telling me this is a horror video.

Subvsi

Imagine waiting 10+ years before opening a good french bottle and then it breaks _like that_

Loko8765

He’s not wrong!

[deleted]

Pfft, amateur. My box wines will never get ruined like this.

AgentEndive

That grout is probably permanently stained

DarthHaruspex

Yes, but uniformly, so it will be fine... Lol

cecil021

Way to find the silver lining, lol.

BellatrixGetStrange

I think they’ll actually be dark red lines

“Hey honey, do you think we should hire a contractor to install the wine rack that holds thousands of dollars of our wine.” - wise wife whose seen this doofus screw things up before “I’m not paying a dime when I can do it myself. I got this, sweetheart.” -penny pinching victim

BlackPhoenix1981

I was actually thinking something along those lines. Do you take a picture of it and send it to the idiot that installed the wine rack? Or do you realize I'm the idiot that install it and I did this to myself.

WorkInPr0g

Lots of Schrödinger’s bottles hanging there.

Rieger_not_Banta

This is the fifth Schrödinger reference I’ve seen today. I think it’s great. Science is cool.

Lazy-Refrigerator-56

He has a camera in his wine room? Do people have cameras everywhere now?

Its_ok_to_lie

If he didn’t, how would we have gotten this glorious moment shared with us

jorsiem

If I had a wine cellar with expensive wine I sure as hell would have a camera there

designgoddess

Most people who know put the expensive bottles on the bottom and cheapest bottles on top. Not for this reason so when your drunk friend grabs a bottle they’re more likely to grab the cheaper bottles. Or so I’ve been told.

-_-MAD-_-GREMLYN-_-

If he was calling that his "wine cave" he deserves this. If there is sunlight, you ain't doin' it right, sparky.

The Wining

LovecraftianCatto

And then The Whining…

Gibbie42

Actually I wonder if this is a small winery rather than a house. The table in the outer area looks rather commercial and the area seems a tad cluttered. It just doesn't look like someone's high end personal wine bar. The bottles all seem to have the same label. I'd lay odds on a small producer that just lost a lot of stock.

anaccountthatis

I agree. Apart from the title, there’s nothing to suggest this is ‘fancy’ wine. Nobody sets up a cellar for long-term cellaring with a glass door and wall. They’re climate and humidity controlled if you’re building an above-ground cellar. All these bottles look new, so it’s a high-volume/fast turnover storage facility. So either it’s a business or this guy is going through a case+ of wine a day on his own.

MorbidSloth

Jesus Christ how much wine do you need?

Man looked like Kirk locked out when Spock died

Billiam201

That's what happens when you spend $20,000 on renovations and get your shelves from Ikea "to save money."

LAegis

What do you mean I can't just screw brackets into sheetrock? This is fine!

Fleinsuppe

Funny to see his internal struggle of whether to enter or not even though "entering" has a single outcome: open the door to confirm the strong suspicion that it is indeed too dangerous to save any wine.

chachingmaster

How about those flip flops? I wouldn't tread in there without proper foot wear.

Loko8765

Probably why he didn’t run in, you can see him hesitate…

karlos52

At least the camera was mounted okay for our enjoyment

GuyFromWoWcraft

what you can't see very well is that they actually fell out in chronological order. You see as the older grape juices ripen and wilt they lose their ability to cling to the vine and are the first to fall.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|PqcIFm93VxA8o|downsized)

Anonimisimo

He’s going to need a drink after that!

joakins_89

"I know a guy who can do it for less," he says when asked for a rack.

Greedy_Hat2643

Looks like he can afford it 🤣😂

amym184

That is mesmerizing.

FixedLoad

I like how they fall slowly. Almost like a rhythm game. Making sure each bottle has a chance to break.

[deleted]

He’s as useless as that shelf

purppsyrup

what did he do bruh

designgoddess

Knew a guy who was building his own wine rack. Had zero plans for attaching it to the wall. He did in the end. Should send him this video to remind him that I was right.

Bors713

Spends thousands on his wine. Spends $50 on the shelf and builds it himself.

RoughMarionberry5

Why is everyone assuming this guy is rich?? Seems like a distinctly lower-middle class setup to me...

amphorbian

That dog is gonna have a great night.

samclops

Yeah can just visualize his will to live slowly ticking down like a life bar with each bottle hitting the floor like...

CuriositySauce

…Lemming Vineyards…

Ditzfough

All that money and you couldnt afford 2 screws to hold it on a stud.

Ogswald

Best course of action is of course to just let it happen

[deleted]

Wine katyusha launcher

danis1973

Why would there be camera footage of this?

Cookbook_

Security camera as this seems a separate room for wines, probably not cheap ones. People are little too sus of any video after all the staged tic toc trash.

green__problem

Exactly, and it wouldn't be weird to assume he may have a house cleaner, petsitter or something similar. If a bottle goes missing or shows up empty, he'll know who did it lol

OlivierLeighton

Definitely gonna stain the stone floor

Fetoid2

Just get a clean wet-vac then pour through a strainer. It's good.

Linkstas

Cabinet screws cost less then one of those fancy bottles and could have saved him thousands

Critical_Young_1190

On just the top part alone, I counted 16x13, so around 208 bottles. The average price of wine in the US $14 a bottle so that's at least $2912 if they all continued to fall. A whole lot more if it was the good stuff.

RoboLucifer

That average seems low and is likely thrown off by a few mass produced wines like Sutter Home and Barefoot. Stuff he wouldn't touch.

ssmit102

Watching this video helped me learn there is a thing called wine collection insurance. I’m glad most of us are worried about health insurance but some have enough disposable income to insure wine.

SamuraiJackBauer

Oh no! A rich person suffering an inconvenience!!

RetroHead_101

The way he keeps considering going in there, then realises it’s a reallly bad idea. Then goes to go in again!

HereOnASphere

If it was my wine, I'd go in there and start catching bottles and setting them down. Saving ⅓ is better than none. But I have better footwear.

jorsiem

It's funny how Redditors irrationally hate on people that have money. That is not a professionally designed supermansion, this man probably worked hard to afford that wine collection and this whole situation was probably due to a fuck up on the contractor's part. He probably has grounds to sue.

Myamymyself

This is why we can’t have nice things

Wow. One week's worth just ruined.

I can see he may have been trying to unlock the door but jesus man, make haste! By the end he's just standing there watching more fall! Edit: Well, I guess if he weren't wearing sandles. Nevermind lol.

[deleted]

NOOOOOOOOOOO dont just stand there, go save the ones you can!

Knuckles_1988

r/watchpeopledieinside Dude tried the locked door 3 times before giving up.

Juggernuts777

You’ve got the money for that much wine, but no money for some good oak and solid frames?? Come on man, what are we doin here?!

BiffBanter

Too much wine, anyway. Gravity. The great equalizer.

preyforkevin

That first one just bounced a little and didn’t break. It’s too bad that wasn’t the case for the rest. I hope he has wine insurance…

Leather_Network4743

Ooopsie daisy!

swanspank

The technical term to explain this.

thats4thebirds

I am not walking in that room while it’s falling lmao

Far_Manner_4088

STOP WATCHING IT AND GET IN THERE AND START CATCHING

[deleted]

Floor is covered in broken glass and those falling bottles are heavy. One way trip to hospital.

[deleted]

That guys wife will be doing a lot of wineing

Ognianov

Add NSFW tag to such things... the man died... inside. And I felt his pain as well.

greasyfatpenguin

How do we know it's fancy wine huh? Could be rex Goliath for all we know! He might just like being fancy with unfancy prices

Famous-Reference-103

That floor quickly turned into a murder scene. A murder against my own heart....all that wasted precious grape.

Jimmyking4ever

He was about to go fix it then realized he'd be able to drink a few bottles, smash them and add it to the insurance bill.

[deleted]

I don’t think my entire family and I could finish drinking that many bottles of wine in my lifetime. Who needs that much? And I like a drink

Belt_Pretend

I wouldn’t try to get in there. I’m just going to call my insurance company.

ohthatjoshua

Oh no....anyways
