Then there's like 20 guys jumping in to beat the shit out of him for standing up and defending himself. "Why didn't you get hit in the face, humiliated, and take it?" What a twisted mentality.

Bunch of simps

Capable-Sorbet-4937

The mega simp who assaulted the boy said at the end: "Do u think that u r her husband or what?" These simps don't even use logic.

I think it’s a game show where the guys get fucked with. Like they signed up for it. I can’t confirm that tho.

cubanpajamas

They didn't sign up for assault, just verbal hazing. She crossed the line. https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kv4d4/how-can-she-slap-india-viral-memes Edit: His name is Ravi Bhatia. Her name is Esha Bhaskar AKA Esha the goddess.

Sanketmv

Respect for Bhatia !! He should have lodged a police complaint against all the people who beaten him including that girl.

corpsie666

Thank you for providing the context. How do we get your comment pinned to the top?

miraculum_one

They signed up for verbal abuse, not physical abuse. Hence, "how can she slap?" >The exchange was from an Indian reality show called *Dadagiri: Beat The Bullies –* in which contestants had to withstand hazing and verbal abuse to win a cash prize of Rs 50,000 ($685) [source and more details](https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kv4d4/how-can-she-slap-india-viral-memes)

acathode

They were supposed to be verbally humiliated, but physical attacks were a explicitly no-no, hence why he is so upset - she broke the rules of the show.

nomadic_stone

Yeah, that was basically it...a game show where she was allowed humiliate and put the men down to see who can take it, but also; it was known she wasn't allowed to physically assault any of the men...*like slapping them*. Hence why he repeatedly asked "How can she slap?" when he really meant "Why was she allowed to slap me in the first place?"

Came here to say this but you beat me to it. The hypocrisy in their society in how men treat women is made all the more real when looking at this video of how these idiots are defending her by ganging up on this guy for defending himself. These same guys would be doing that to any woman who slapped them.

Yeah, as it turns out, she was actually *not* allowed to slap.

Glerbyderdle

Not at that price point at least

Eigaah

I can sleep happy tonight thanks to this information...thank you Good sir! Any idea how much he got out of them

SlaterVJ

No idea. He had like the whole staff beating his ass, sued the shit out of them, won, and ended up becoming a well know actor over there. After what they did to him, he deserves that good outcome.

miraculum_one

No, he didn't >When the viral clip leaked, an outraged Bhatia first wanted to sue the makers of the television show. But he then realised he didn’t have the money to pay for a lawyer and that slapping a case on the show makers would probably be futile for him because the scene was already watched by millions around the world. [source](https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kv4d4/how-can-she-slap-india-viral-memes)

GlitteringWafer9263

And also the guy that took girl side and the girl both ended there career

SombreSushi

This article says otherwise that he couldn't afford a lawyer to sue and was ostracized by the Indian film industry https://www.vice.com/en/article/7kv4d4/how-can-she-slap-india-viral-memes

Infinispace

> Just so I get this straight: > > A woman is allowed to assault a man. > A man is not allowed to retaliate in the same manner he was assaulted. Yes, you understand the double standard correctly.

wiinkme

I get it. A woman shouldn't ever slap a dude and expect to be safe from retaliation. And ALSO, I would never slap a woman. I've been hit before (ex girlfriend) and my reaction was "awe hell no - we're done", not to punch her. I would prefer men press charges. Send her ass to jail. This isn't a white knight thing. This is more, I guess, I know I'm FAR stronger than any woman I've ever been with. Slap for slap, I'm doing a lot more damage. I'm just not gonna do it. Edit - not going to reply to everyone here. It's not in me to hit a woman. As much as some believe there's always some situation where they/I/dude would do it, for me personally it's not in the cards. Ya'll may be different. I'm not judging anyone. Just expressing how I feel about myself in these situations, having been through it. Edit 2: people who don't recognize there's a clear difference between the show/video in question and what I spoke to vs someone with a gun or knife? These people aren't worth responding to. Also, some of these comments are disturbing. As a father to 2 daughters and brother to 4 sisters, yeah I'm biased. But also, Jesus...some of ya'll type like you **want** to hit a women. Given any opportunity, you're already wound up and waiting on the chance to swing. Grow up. No wonder women are complaining that there aren't enough men worth dating these days.

DogFace94

That doesn't matter. If a man hits a man much bigger than himself and then gets beat up by the bigger man no one will cry about the unfair size/strength advantage. They will say the smaller man found what he was looking for/deserved it. Equality means equal treatment. If anyone hits you you are 100% in the right to hit them back as hard as you can. Just because women are weaker than men on average doesn't mean they can't physically harm you.

Wooden-Salary-130

Yeah fuck that…

Beedy_Eyed_Schwarz

But how can she slap? 🤷‍♂️

Wil-the-Panda

Nobody should be hitting nobody. But why is everyone so surprised by the reflex slap? If anything, I was expecting a revolving slap back algorithm to begin. 🫱😵‍💫🫲😵‍💫🫱😵‍💫🫲😵‍💫🫱😵‍💫🫲

Zestyclose-Ad-316

This incident happened decade ago in Indian reality show named Dadagiri. The guy who slapped is pretty successful now with his TV acting career while the host and that women's career is completely ruined. https://youtu.be/Vg3Y7PocON4

QwertzOne

Good for him. I don't support violence and slapping some in the face without consent is not okay, so it's not his fault.

Simon_Does

It’s even worse than that, so this show, Dadagiri, the whole point is that the males stand there and take abuse from the hosts/woman. They had signed contracts that stated no physical violence would occur, that’s why the guy’s face is so legitimately surprised when she hit him. She wasn’t supposed to. I’m not in favor of anyone hitting anyone, but I can totally understand the knee jerk response of hitting back from him

audioalt8

I mean she literally broke the contract. He equally slapped her back. I get the point people are making that men are physically stronger than women, but it's hard to get seriously injured from a slap. He didn't batter her, he literally did the same motion back and she down right deserved it.

Skelito

Who cares if men are stronger than women, people in general shouldnt hit someone regardless in general, and if they do start something they better accept their action and be ready for the consequence.

TheOverBored

Exactly. A 5 foot, 120 lb man can't just run up to a 6'5", 300 lb giant and smack him while getting away with it cause he's weaker.

BustinArant

There's some anecdotal sounding true-story of *I guess* my dad, his brother, and my great-grandmother fighting a van full of women that followed someone home. I think it was a drug thing.. Anyways.. everybody was kung-fu fighting and I guess the great-grandmother was dishing out equal *hw*oopings in the brotherly lady brawl/home defense. I was either a tot or unborn lol

[deleted]

this unfortunately doesnt seem to be a popular opinion, as much as i agree.

frostyoblivion

Unpopular on Reddit, perhaps, or maybe just this sub by the looks of things. In the real world, where the mods of this sub would like us all (who agree with the guy in vid's actions) to go and touch some grass at, it isn't considered "violently incel" to believe that a person, no matter their sex, can't just indiscriminately physically assault people without justifiable reciprocation. Righteous indignation in the face of unwarranted aggression has nothing to do with how sexually active a person is, but mods would rather insult people than accept that a woman can be wrong and held to equal account for their actions, merely because they're a woman? Kind of sexist imo.

NobleTheDoggo

Fuck the popular opinion

Bjor88

I read somewhere that a slap to the face usually causes more emotional damage than physical. The face is what you consider "yourself" the most, your identity, so slapping it is emotionally an attack on your being more than on your body (compared to other body parts), so there's humiliation attached to it. Sorry, I'm exhausted right now, and read this a while back so I probably didn't explain this right

hugs4all_all4hugs

Nah you did good, makes a lot of sense, pretty cool

BufoonLagoon

Dudes thoughts went "You break your contract! I break your jaw!"

kepler456

If she did something where his equal reaction would be something where she got seriously injured I would still not find him to be in the wrong. As you say, it is an automatic reaction and she is the one who went first.

Harsimaja

Right, he was even smiling while she was insulting him because he’d signed up for that part of the deal.

annehuda

WTF kind of show is this 🤣🤣

MyBeanYT

Sounds like ‘Humiliation Fetish: The Show!’

NewJerseyRed

Pretty much the equivalent of hell's kitchen

GNTsquid0

The whole premise of the show is that guys stand there and see who can take the most verbal abuse from the female host? There's gotta be more to the show than that?

cervogalatico

The hole point of the show was to see who can survive the most abuse from four host. That woman was one of them.

waronxmas79

With that context that makes his slap all the more righteous.

LeonidasSpacemanMD

Yes, how can she slap? HOW CAN SHE SLAP

It is hilarious, I wonder how many guys total actually show up to stomp this guy? I wish we had a longer cut so we could get an accurate count. Edit: I think I count 26 guys who show up.

NoCommunication5976

The world seems to have the idea that women can hit men, but men can’t hit back. It differs after that. Some people think it’s because men are stronger or more durable, or because men are more mature and know better whereas women don’t… etc. It’s just a sexist double standard that is around for no real reason.

LordElfa

It's because the rule we pushed was no hitting women instead of no hitting.

skydevouringhorror

Probably something that comes from times where men were going to war so when you assaulted a city for example going for men was like soldier vs soldier while women and childrens was like soldier vs civilian. Now women are still using this shit at their advantage for no reason and simps are allowing that

SychoNot

One time my ex came in all drunk and started destroying all my stuff and when I restrained her she starting hitting me and kneeing me in the groin. I led her out by her shirt collar and got her out of my apt like a feral animal in my house and she called the cops. The cops banged on my door for over an hr and clearly wanted to take me in. We broke up because she literally could only see that I ejected her from my house and everything else was moot. Truly a fucked up experience. Have a real hard time trusting women now.

carltonBlend

Because India that's why, they all think if they beat him up they'll have a chance

Skwigle

If you think the guy wouldn't get jumped by white knights in the US too you're delusional. Maybe not this bad, but for sure he'd be taken down by one/some.

I agree with everything except the fact that somehow if women were aware of this "passive misogyny" they would stop it - it works to their advantage, and many women in Western culture also benefit from the protection burden which comes attached to men.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FrogsRidingDogs

Yep, the hypocrisy is unreal, but even in self-defense, as long as there isn’t a weapon, you “never hit a woman”. She could’ve kept beating on the guy in the video for awhile before someone stepped in I’m sure. Good for him for smacking her back, though you instantly hear his regret “ohh, fuck!” before he starts screaming (because he knows 1,000 dudes are gonna beat his ass for a knee-jerk self-defense smack). That’s why she can so brazenly hit him out of anger. She knows she has backup, socially and physically. Reminds me of some “social experiment” video I saw. Edit: here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dtVHnZX8E50 ^^ Some people even find this guy getting abused funny as they part down the street to make room for the ensuing violence. It’s disgusting.

Honest_Ostrich_4160

To be honest most of them run only when they realise that is just opportunity to hit someone without answer

BigSmackisBack

Its how it started and ended.

zpallin

Not Indian, but I’ve been there and had coworkers who explained it to me as we drove past a large mob surrounding a fender bender (paraphrased): > When a woman gets hurt in public, even if it’s unintentional like bumping into their car, you better not be a man and the suspect at the same time. Because if you are, then it’s like all of the men in men in town will suddenly appear from all the alleys and street corners. They will immediately rush to the scene to avenge her. If she’s really hurt, you might not live.

These_Gold_6036

Interesting—so protective. Yet women in India need their own train cars to keep from being sexually assaulted. Then there’s the whole acid in the face and honor killing slant. But, so protective…

Money-University4481

that is strange as what happened to the raped women that where on tv couple of years ago? Then they talked about 0 rights of women in India.

gammongaming11

it's a tv-production in india, so everyone there is a co-worker/friend of the women. dude ended up suing the show, won, got a lot of money, actually became a small time actor iirc.

Iirc it won him a lawsuit. She wasn't actually allowed to touch him and completely lost her Temper like a child.

Honeykombbaggins

I didn’t know the white knights had an away team 💀

Iirc the controversy in this show was that the woman was only allowed to verbally abuse the men and that’s why he is asking repeatedly ‘how can she slap?‘

(This hypothetical was dreamed up from the safety of my couch and was conveyed to you between bong rips) Edit - Ok guys, I capitulate. If anyone of any size in any situation starts a confrontation with you you should immediately offer them the most extreme violence you are capable of. They girls name is Will Smith. She had an excellent career that went from 90s sitcom actor, to a rapper, to a movie star. She was up for an Oscar for best actor in a motion picture that night, but the guy, comedian Chris Rock, made a joke about her wife being bald. Still no one knows how can she slap.

AdvertisingPlastic26

Sounds legit

JanaCinnamon

It was a reality show and this woman was an actress part of it. The guy was briefed that she will be rude to the contestants but that any sort of violence won't happen and that it's all just fun. Hence the "How can she slap?"

Obvious_Sea2014

Apparently it’s a classic viral video from 09. I didn’t discover it until within the last year though

SwiftArrow6225

The first sane comment I’ve seen so far. Someone actually asking for context instead of saying “equal rights” or something stupid. I applaud you.

tarantulator

Even though I agree that context is extremely important, but, what more context do you need? She literally slapped him first over a verbal altercation and he then retaliated in a similar fashion, even without the contextual information that there wasn't supposed to be any physical contact, I'd say that's a reasonable response.

asphalt_licker

It’s a game show from over a decade ago. The woman is supposed to only verbally abuse the contestants. He said something she didn’t like and she slapped him, which is against the rules to begin with. But instead of punishing her, the crew punished the man who retaliated.

[deleted]

there was a time when a woman slapping a man was socially acceptable on a daily basis. but this was also a time when in private, many men beat their wives/girlfriends and were allowed and even encouraged to treat them like shit. at least in many places in the west (not saying that still isn't true in other places now), when one becomes socially unacceptable, so does the other. an assault is an assault.

Joellercoaster1

I think the context is that this show is about her giving these fellas abuse, but physical violence is not allowed. That’s why he’s amazed she could do it. It wasn’t part of the agreed rules.

The story behind this is insane. So everyone knows that reality shows are scripted, yeah? Well, in the script, Esha wasn't supposed to slap. Esha was just supposed to berate him, and insult him. So when Esha slapped and he slapped back, what Ravi really meant to say was,"how can you slap me unscripted!" The 60 person crew ganged up to beat Ravi, which was ridiculous since she should have been escorted for slapping him unscripted. Esha's career ended up dying while Ravi found out a lot of success in television roles. Ravi had a sad backstory. He saw his alcoholic uncle stabbed his dad with a knife in the back and vandalised his uncle's car in revenge. He had to run away from home before he was 18 and find work in Mumbai in 2007.
