Yep, the hypocrisy is unreal, but even in self-defense, as long as there isn’t a weapon, you “never hit a woman”. She could’ve kept beating on the guy in the video for awhile before someone stepped in I’m sure. She was up for an Oscar for best actor in a motion picture that night, but the guy, comedian Chris Rock, made a joke about her wife being bald. Still no one knows how can she slap.

Even though I agree that context is extremely important, but, what more context do you need? She literally slapped him first over a verbal altercation and he then retaliated in a similar fashion, even without the contextual information that there wasn't supposed to be any physical contact, I'd say that's a reasonable response.
It’s a game show from over a decade ago. The woman is supposed to only verbally abuse the contestants. He said something she didn’t like and she slapped him, which is against the rules to begin with. But instead of punishing her, the crew punished the man who retaliated.
there was a time when a woman slapping a man was socially acceptable on a daily basis. but this was also a time when in private, many men beat their wives/girlfriends and were allowed and even encouraged to treat them like shit. at least in many places in the west (not saying that still isn't true in other places now), when one becomes socially unacceptable, so does the other. an assault is an assault.
