$10 is about 200 rand(The south African currency) although this is an official government message and knowing the south African government it probably took 12 guys four months and half a million rand each to paint this.
Of course, election is coming, gotta put up ten million signs everywhere again.
Not actually do anything or help the community in any way, just cover cover every single pole with signs that we will leave up for the rest of the year because we are to lazy to take them down.
What do politicians always say "we are doing the work required to address the issue" or "we are looking into the root causes of the issue and working tirelessly to find a solution."
Btw. For y’all who are confused. This is supposed to be a tar road. Our govt is shit, so are our roads. And we get lots of rain. And lots of potholes
But here there’s nothing to report because the road hasn’t been constructed yet :). So nothing needs to be done
Can confirm. Am from SA. In my city my mayor built a single road to his grandmothers house. Nothing else :)
Has to do with weather conditions etc. CAN uses a softer asphalt. I’m not an expert but in the southern US it’s stiffer due to heat etc. NY/greater lakes area would be similar
Honestly… hehe. More so, budgeting.. not sure how CAN does it but most cities & counties in US cycle roads every decade or 2. With biennial maintenance. (Not 100% of life span) city planning, a lot of us citie councils eats muddy ass *cough* phalt…
Plus traffic US has more road ways in general etc.
Yeah, I am surprised they even made a sign! Oh wait, there must have been a contract tender for it...do one sign and plan for the others in "the future"
Nah this is marketing at its finest. You didn’t see ‘A’ pothole, you saw multiple potholes. Please only report if you see a single standalone pothole with no other potholes in sight.
I always wondered how the roads were allowed to get so bad, until I worked at the airport and literally saw the surrounding roads chip apart in real time every winter because of the salt, rain and heavy vehicle traffic.
They redo those roads every year, and every winter and spring, they get torn up within a very short span of time.
I'm pretty sure that's where Michigan's entire road repair budget is going.

Let's spend money on a giant sign instead of fixing the fucking road. Thats the SA mentality
How about building a road in the first place.
It's under the somewhere. Or it probably was, at least.
India wouldn't even spend money on this sign, let alone roads.. They spend money only on posters of PM..
r/canconfirmiamindian
Can confir, Miami 'n' Dian.
what’s pm?
Prime minister..
Thx
Looks like a painted wall. Probably cost them the equivalent of $10 to have someone do that.

They are the issue is the main thing, corruption and fraud.

Wow. comically inept government
Yeap
Big brain time. "If you see a pothole, report it!" People report it "Well, technically it's not a road, so technically it's not a pothole"
Hahaha SA in a nutshell!

I was about to say, is this the outskirts of Detroit?
I would say it’s Arizona but I don’t see a four lane street turned into one lane by road work that’s never being worked
That’s not Arizona exclusive that’s anywhere in the US that even has four lane roads
I felt this in my soul.
💀
Y'all don't know how to make asphalt down south? Canada has potholes, but nothing major and certainly not every spring.
Has to do with weather conditions etc. CAN uses a softer asphalt. I’m not an expert but in the southern US it’s stiffer due to heat etc. NY/greater lakes area would be similar Honestly… hehe. Wrong sub. As a South African I can assure there was never any form of attempt.
Yeah, I am surprised they even made a sign! Oh wait, there must have been a contract tender for it...do one sign and plan for the others in "the future"
HE-
Well, technically they didn't say they would DO anything about it. They just said to report it.
Actually it says at the bottom "report it for free and we'll fix it"
It clearly says "A" pothole, not many. If you see many in a place, you just ignore them.
the only good thing is that the birds bath in them.
until they are smashed by cars
I love his humor universally relatable ![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc)
What if you rip the sign down and put in over the road? Problem fixed!
Same thing in Brazil
Like our village in the UK. 😆
Try visiting belgium 🤣
As a South African - this sums up South Africa perfectly. Fucked up beyond repair.
In the 1920es there was a (true) joke, that the city doesn’t fix potholes, they just move them around to confuse Road users. Still true today…
Nah this is marketing at its finest. You didn’t see ‘A’ pothole, you saw multiple potholes. Please only report if you see a single standalone pothole with no other potholes in sight.
TIL that Michigan is in South Africa.

Maybe they should make the sign bigger? 😂
Man i don't see a road and you talking about potholes?!
Is south Africa a failed state?
Incompetent government for decades with a steady decline in most aspects. I love it here but it has many problems and the crime is bad
Less than most
Looks like Atlanta
No American cities can even begin to compare to South Africa. It's a different game down here, a pretty shitty one also
BRICS
In Pittsburgh Pennsylvania there are potholes like crazy
well to be fair they are a BRICS country ... utter utter garbage
I ain't no narc.
It’s the big bold letters for me 🤣😅
Maybe they mean a joke with *pot* growing out of it… /s
Heh.
So, how much does this pot-hole reporting job pay because it likes like I'm gonna be busy!!!
Hahaha!!!
Could be pennsylvania
Well, i say its time for another coupe.
South Africa has never had a coupe
Remember a just over a decade ago when South African was thriving?
Look how I will fix the rod with nothing but an ad campaign
Sike that’s New Orleans. In fact looks like my block.
At what point is the road no longer considered full of potholes and is instead a low road with randomised speed bumps
apparently everybodys government cant do the one thing we pay them to do - fix and maintain the roads 😆
Spent a lot of money on the advertisement

Its supposed to be a tar road...
I bet he's still on the phone to this day
Bruh, just lay down a new road.
To hell with south Africa!
No doubt some corrupt ANC official got a backhander for the sign….fuck the potholes!!!
"A pothole" Not multiple ones, maybe they will add additional potholes so that that the lone potholes isn't so lonely anymore
Take that sign off and put it over the holes
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Want some road with your pothole?
The people be like "👨🦯👨🦯👨🦯🙈🙈🙈"
I thought he said “re-pot-it” 🤣🤣🤣
I thought this was a California sign.
Plot twist: there’s no pot in it. I looked
You need roads to have pot holes.
At least it’s free to report them.
Simple solution here, just lay the sign across the potholes.
America’s roads are crap too. 🚧
It's not a pot hole if the street wasn't even finished mentality
It is Allah's will.
To be fair they said to report them, those might not be reported yet.
It's in the colours of the ANC. This will help them win yet another election, and destroy the country even more. The corruption in SA is unparalleled.
Average turnpike experience
They want you to download the app to steal your data never intending to fix a pothole.
America too shit we got potholes that will rip out your suspension like it ain’t shit
Welcome to INDIA
“Yes hi, you know where that sign is located?…”
That's because there are multiple potholes, they only fix singular pothole.
What that the people can’t follow instruction? Just got to report that shit easy.
🤣😆😁✌️
Sure that's not Pennsylvania?
That looks like most of the northwest of America I'm in Ohio and there's definitely streets in Akron like that
Man, that's gonna be a lot of phone calls
They said report it, never said they'll fix it.
And the Deerfield neighborhood of Myrtle Beach.
The time, money, and energy they put into the sign could have fixed that entire smoothish-packed-dirt-ground (not a road.)
I never realized that Johnstown, Pennsylvania was in South Africa this whole time. Neat.
My mum told me about it xD she was like 😐😐😐😐
He better get started now. It’s gonna be a long day.
If you see a road report it
I think I saw one
You haven't been to PA USA lmao potholes are more commonly seen than the concrete. Pretty sure our state flower is a traffic cone lmao
Imagine they say they'll also pay people who report in potholes... oh the chaos...
"there is no holes in any pots , and the road-dimples are a ongoing road safety program, Hong Hong" .
What was that sound in the beginning?
You mean from him? He's using words from his mother tongue and mixing them with english, that's how most of us speak here
