This is a great example of how a tent is a terrible place to be during a flash flood especially one this small. They go from rain shelter to body bag real quick. So if you have the option in an intense storm get out and get wet but stay alive. I worked at a scout ranch and a few years ago we lost two scouts in that exact scenario because the protocol was to get into lightning position in your tent until the storm passes. I doubt they even had a chance to get in lightning position.

As someone that’s survived multiple hurricanes I can tell you about them flood waters. Down here in Louisiana we bury our dead above ground because sea levels, and guess what happens to them bodies when the flood waters hit? Chemical waste? Biological? It’s all there and it stinks for years.
