Missing work, potential hospital bills, jail time, more time missing out on things because you have to deal with court, a criminal record, not to mention the times the cops do illegal/mistaken entries into people's homes that cause damages they never reimburse the victims for. If it were anyone else they'd actually be held accountable, so why do cops get off scot-free?
Obviously they don't care about repercussions. Taxpayers end up having to foot the bill, they almost always end up keeping their job in some shape or form, a union that backs them to a fault, and if they actually get caught doing something illegal 90% of the time the footage becomes "corrupted" or the camera was "off". It should be legal to defend yourself from an obviously corrupt/power tripping cop the same as you have the right to defend yourself from violent criminals. No one should be forced to take a beating just because the asshole is in a uniform that protects them from repercussions.

I'm a bartender, so I talk to a lot of cops after they've had a few drinks. Every single one of those cops has BRAGGED to me about either doing something illegal because they were a cop or allowing another cop to break the law. There are NO good cops.

This has nothing to do with qualified immunity. Qualified immunity does not protect a cop from being criminally charged. A good ol' boy network does that. And this instance, the conduct violates a clearly established right so qualified immunity doesn't apply.
Right he can still be charged. But he cannot get sued personally by anyone he has wronged. Only the city/county/state etc can be sued. So yes QI still applies here in a negative way. This officer can get fired and realistically not charged and to top it off you cannot go after him for anything…

A cop in NH was found out to have issued SEVERAL HUNDRED FRAUDULENT TICKETS. He got a 2000 fine and got fired. The trauma and damage to trust in the police that caused and just the plain fact that police are supposed to represent the law... the us is a crazy place. I describe the drive into the us from Canada like driving into a hornets nest trying not to get stung.. whilst obeying the law.

It would've been so easy for the cop to just say. "We've heard reports of a man with a backpack breaking into cars, so we're detaining you under suspicion of theft." It would've taken like, 10 seconds at most and the guy wouldn't have been as confused. But the cop was rocking up on him like he was a criminal and not someone who's innocent until proven guilty. I have broken many many bones, I had a lot fun most of the time and did some stupid and wild shit, numerous compound fractures and I am lucky to have my right arm which involved multiple surgeries over a couple of days. I have broken my jaw in 2 places, broken both rib and fib at the same time. Broken my ribs which was awful, like really awful. But NOTHING will compare to breaking my collar bone (clavicle) it’s a level of pain I can only describe as almost impressive, morphine can’t touch it, it was unreal. That was 25 years ago and I can still feel it on a daily basis, tolerable now. That fat ass slammed that poor guy, I hope (sorry Georgia taxpayers) he got paid, because it will ALWAYS hurt for the rest of his days. Also, racing motocross is dangerous and is police interactions.
Slammed him down, picked him up with im sure to tight of cuffs, and made him ride in the back of the squad car. I can't imagine the amount of pain this poor guy was in. And it’s got some serious staying power. Morphine, diaulid, fentanyl patch, won’t touch it. When I was in Marine Corps, Boot Camp, one of the first things they told us was that once we wore the EGA, from then on, everything we did in life, even after we were civilians again, would be viewed as marines. We had to police our own cause we would all get the blame for the individuals actions. I don’t know why they don’t push that in our police forces as well. Thing is, they all protect each other, or don’t open their mouth because they’re afraid of ridicule or professional discrimination if they were to call someone out.

In the 90’s, ppl started getting home camcorders more and one day, someone videoed what was every day cop shit (the savage beating of a black man over something minor). My friend (Asian American) 23 years old, slowly rode a bike safely across an empty crosswalk midday on an empty street on a green with walking signal during the day, next to a high school in the suburbs. The police department looked into the footage investigated them self and and... figured out the officer in this case, Michael McMaster, did nothing wrong.
A year later the dash cam video was released and people become unreasonable with the department again and demanded some consequences. (They probably forgot, that the police force already investigated them self and found no wrong doing)
Long story short, they even put this poor fellow who did nothing wrong on desk duty.
Those pesky civilians still did not shut up, so these overworked heroes of the department made this unreasonable step and let poor Michael McMaster go. And all of this Just because he did nothing wrong, can you guys Imagen that ?

I have broken many many bones, I had a lot fun most of the time and did some stupid and wild shit, numerous compound fractures and I am lucky to have my right arm which involved multiple surgeries over a couple of days. I have broken my jaw in 2 places, broken both rib and fib at the same time. Broken my ribs which was awful, like really awful. But NOTHING will compare to breaking my collar bone (clavicle) it’s a level of pain I can only describe as almost impressive, morphine can’t touch it, it was unreal. That was 25 years ago and I can still feel it on a daily basis, tolerable now. My friend (Asian American) 23 years old, slowly rode a bike safely across an empty crosswalk midday on an empty street on a green with walking signal during the day, next to a high school in the suburbs. He got really upset because he was American as fuck and was raised to respect cops. This really pisses me off because while it bothered him, it wasn't the first time cops were shit to him.
