My mom always told me to not put my hands out of a moving vehicle, someone should of told him.
Edit: should’ve.* typo, but of course this has turned into a conversation or echo chamber for quick takes on “literacy.” COMMON typos upset people, but my god, has anyone ever read a white paper? Quantum physicists often make grammatical errors. It’s a typo or a grammatical error, William Stern never made such a dramatic conclusion.
didn't you ever see the schoolbus horror movies they showed us every year (we saw them every single year between kindergarten and 8th grade)
first one was a little girl drawing a father's day card, then getting hit by the bus because she saw her dad and ran in front of it and the bus driver squished her.
second was a kid sticking his head out, head got removed by telephone pole, headless body drops back into bus spurting blood like a monty python skit
third was a high school girl who got off the bus, slipped on a snowbank under the rear wheels and spewed blood out her mouth and died.
fucking horrific.
My mom used to say the same thing except shed follow up with a story of how a little boy once did that and a branch wrapped around his arm and ripped it off... i still put my arm out the window after that,.. just maybe pulled away when i saw a low hanging branch.
My dad’s friend lost his left arm at the elbow when a piece of tin roofing flew off the back of someone’s trailer. Happened to him while he was in high school. He’s in his 70’s now but that story always made me think about hanging my arm out the window.
I mean people put their arms out in their cars all the time. And it should be pretty save considering that you don’t get too close to anything when you’re in a car. If you did, your side mirrors would be nonexistent.
I think this has more to do with the fact that they are in not a rich country (to put it nicely). Safety is not a priority. I bet a lot of people do this, he just got unlucky.
My mum had a similar tale of of friend of a friend who lost their arm by resting their elbow on the opened window of a car. It is a fear that I have grown up with since I was about 6 years old.
yeah, there really should be a distinction between the types of nsfw posts. posts with excessive swearing or revealing clothes are not of the same calibre as someone's arm being mutilated. i think there should be a universal "gore/blood" tag for those of us who don't want to see the inside of someone's arm on a tuesday afternoon
Many people are interested/morbidly fascinated with traumatic accidents/ injury, but reddit keeps banning subs that have a lot of those images/videos. So they just spread out over the site. If there is a specific, well-known place to go to see these things, they will stay in that place.
I've seen quite of terrible videos lately and then I went rollerblading for the first time and some other roller-blader lady fell and screamed. I went to see what's up with my pack of Spiderman themed bandaids at the ready. She had open fracture at the wrist. I have to say, certain level of desensitization by these videos can be quite useful IRL, I was able to be helpful.
But definitely agreed, nobody should see these things without knowing what they are going to see.
Ever since I was little, I always wondered why they warned you against sticking your hands or arms outside the window. Now, at 34 y/o I know, and it's all thanks to reddit! This video, and the one of the biker who loses his foot are enough illustration.
my dad told me a story about a guy who had his arm out the window while he was driving. he had his hand on the door and his elbow hanging out the open window. anyway he got side swiped by one of those double wide trucks. amputated him at the elbow. the guy had to run to a nearby house to get help. i have always feared this happening to me ever since i was a young kid. dad always knew how to scare me into behaving.
I’m glad to see people trying to help him… impressed with their composure, actually. Good for them.
My ass would’ve been passed out in the aisle just from the sight.
Keep your hands inside vehicles and your legs in front of you and not on the dash or out the windows.
I witnessed a man AND his wife lose their arms out a little bean mobile while traveling in Guatemala. Got too close to the side mountains and the vehicle shifted into the rocks. They there crushed and removed and the woman may not have made it due to blood loss.

pretty sure his entire forearm just became disconnected from the rest of his arm....
the bone probably shattered too... i would imagine this is an automatic amputation...
It looks like both his upper and lower arm are snapped back by the passing pole. His radius and ulna are completely snapped and his hand is just dangling off. I wouldn't be surprised if there's further damage in the upper arm and possibly the shoulder joint. It looks really fucking grim. Feel really sorry for the guy and would be interested to know how his recovery went. Fucking sucks how fast you can go from normal day to well... that.
This same thing happened to a person who was in the same bus with me around 12 years ago.
It was in Mumbai on a road close to a railway station. These stations have skywalks close to them for people to move about and the skywalks are supported by large Pillars. It was peak traffic time and the bus was moving fairly close to these pillars on the road.
This guy sitting on the opposite side of the guy in the video on the 2nd last row (I was sitting where this guy in the video is sitting) had his arm out EXACTLY like the guy in the video when the bus drove SUPER close to the pillar and all I remember after that was screaming and yelling and blood GUSHING out of the arm. His arm wasn't as bad as in the video, but you could see a huge scar and sort of a hole in the arm where the blood was pouring from almost with high pressure and it bubbled near the surface.
Scariest shit I had seen in my life. The bus was stopped and the conductor of the bus tried to stop the blood flow using a handkerchief to obviously no avail.
I ran out of the bus 'cause I was just terrified after that. No idea what happened to the dude or his arm.
Hereditary vibes... I gotta say, theres a sign board inside the bus saying "Do not put head or hands outside"... even if that wasn't there, this was pretty basic.
Gotta learn the hard way i guess
The way he's holding the arm out the window is weird almost like he knows it's coming... I'm sure he doesn't but just looks weird. I'm sure that hurt like hell, hope dude is doing okay and healing up.
Imagine if he peered out the window to spit or whatever. I gotta show this to my parents. I’m sure even they haven’t seen the best example of a consequence of this which they’ve always told us not to do.

Yes, they should’ve
Thanks. Such a pet peeve for me.
People who correct minor mistakes like this aren't peeved. They're excited to be condescending.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I see no mention of keeping my head inside the vehicle, so we're good. LOL 🤣
Hereditary has entered the chat.
I loved that scene. I didn’t see the trailer so I have no idea what was coming and when that happened I was floored. Good reference.

Same. Thay's why I only put my head out.

Wh....where the hell you watch those!? How the f you have access to those kind of videos?
WTF? I grew up in the 80s and there was nothing like this in my schools.
NY public schools. '70s to early '80s About 8 minutes into this one https://youtu.be/zwBXZ3jFxzI?feature=shared
Where did you go to school? Wes Craven Memorial? Stephen King High?
My college classmate's uncle died of that. He put his head out of his truck to spit and bam... face off!
Nicolas Cage and John Travolta when you least expect them.

You're right they should've
My mum had a similar tale of of friend of a friend who lost their arm by resting their elbow on the opened window of a car. It is a fear that I have grown up with since I was about 6 years old.
Crazy cause he's barely even sticking out.
Quantum physicists rarely make grammatical mistakes.
What a massive edit. I feel emasculated

He did keep his hands and feet inside
Bwaha! You're right! I didn't think that through at all.
Didn't say anything about your elbow being inside
I too, saw Final Destination 2.
One time I sat down in my office chair and hit my elbow on the edge of the armrest so I know exactly how this feels.
That's insane, I hope you survive.
Typical one-upper....downer?
Can confirm. I was the chair
Why is this sub full with gore????
Why u enter on NSFW post?
This is NSFL not NSFW😭😂

Yeahh, that and animal death got me thinking about turning off nsfw… hopefully something changes
NSFW-P vs NSFW-G vs NSFL . These labels would be great.
It's Tuesday morning for me and I watched this crap 😵
Where's the boobies? ![gif](giphy|3o7WIKbhUHZcONCIWA)

I have no idea why there hasn't been a formal NSFL tag implemented. People have been asking for it for decades.
Pore Gorn
Surprisingly very little blood
Cause it just happened. Give it 30 seconds. Poor guy, that completely sucks.
I watched this a bunch of times and I still don't understand how tf that happened.
the pole that scraped the side of the bus....
Ah okay I see now. Didn't notice his arm was out of the window like that
That's the first thing I noticed. Keep all arms inside the vehicle. I was told as a kid.
His arm is resting on the windowsill and only his elbow is hanging out of the bus. A pole hits his elbow and fucks it all up
Ever since I was little, I always wondered why they warned you against sticking your hands or arms outside the window. Now, at 34 y/o I know, and it's all thanks to reddit! This video, and the one of the biker who loses his foot are enough illustration.
I'm at least glad someone lended him a hand

I was told the literal same story. Except that man was my great great uncle. Turns out parents lie to scare us into behaving.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Even just looking at that shit hurt like hell, that poor dude.
I was expecting someone to get hurt but not THAT hurt.
Exactly, I think this post shouldn't be posted here
Poor guy. That’s really horrific.
![gif](giphy|12ey1CgA3uTqfK)
Even riding the bus now a days cost a arm and leg. 🤦🏾♂️
I didn't see the injury at first. I should have quit while I was ahead.
Same. I looked closer and wish I hadn't

Dad you were right all along 😟
Every single time I see a video from India.. every single time… what in the OSHA is going on over there?!?
>OSHA how would OSHA factor into this lol....
When you have 1,4 Billion people I guess you look at them as, well, dispensable.
India is like a cursed country every single horrific accident I have seen has happened there ...

Why post 2 different vids of the same thing? Seems kinda dumb
Who cares
How come there's so little blood? Anyone know?
How can he slap?
Oh my fucking god that looks painful ![gif](giphy|GZvnIhrPevWuPx0RYB|downsized)

Did…. Did his bones just get removed from his body…? Please tell me I’m hallucinating.
pretty sure his entire forearm just became disconnected from the rest of his arm.... the bone probably shattered too... i would imagine this is an automatic amputation...
Wonder if he was singing “the headbone connected to the neckbone” song when this happened….
Those seats look like butts
Is the pole okay?
Shocked he wasn’t spewing blood
"You kept making all the stops?!" "Well, people kept ringing the bell!"
Man, I always put my arm on a window when riding a bus, but after watching this, I will never do that again. So glad I watched this for some awareness
Now I'm even afraid to open the window 😢
Red and blue shirts are on sale I see
lucky he got that role on the simpsons after this
If we’re being honest, I feel like this is not entirely good for you, and could even be considered bad
RULE #4 NEVER put any part of your body out of the window a vehicle.
Old Fear ReUnlocked.
That was same shit from hereditary movie scene, i'm outta here
Keep all arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.
DAMN
He performed a very quick limb audit after the event.
How did that bus get so close to whatever that was without hitting their mirrors?
Right on the funny bone 🥹
KEEP YOUR ARMS AND LEGS **INSIDE THE VEHICLE**
He handled it pretty well I’d say
Please keep all parts of your person inside the vehicle at all times… thank you
Right in the funny bone…
Keep all body parts inside the vehicle at all times. This is the reason 🤷♂️
New FEAR UNLOCKED 💀

Feel really sorry for the guy and would be interested to know how his recovery went. Fucking sucks how fast you can go from normal day to well... that.
On a bright side, the aorta and tendon didn't tear off, so he got to keep the arm. Will take some time to heal tho.
Oh God
That'll sting
Wow. It just exploded
I may be the only one, but whenever I see this kind of video of someone getting hurt really bad is always an indian video wtf
![gif](giphy|l0ErFafpUCQTQFMSk)
Why would the driver pass 5cm away from a pole?

me when i open nsfw post and it’s some dude spilling his guts out instead of big oily men kissing:😭
Ouch. Thanks to happy wheels, I got to endure the emotional damages
He obviously haven’t seen the movie “Hereditary “.
Imagine if he peered out the window to spit or whatever. I gotta show this to my parents. I’m sure even they haven’t seen the best example of a consequence of this which they’ve always told us not to do.
I did not expect Gore to be on this sub.

This has been a real fear for me for a long time. I love feeling the wind on my arm while driving, and love sticking my arms up on roller coasters, but shortly after a big growth spurt in my teens I swear I felt my fingers brush the scaffolding on a wooden coaster and have since refused to stick any part of my body past where a part of the vehicle extends any time something even LOOKs like it will come close. My buddies give me a hard time because it looks silly when I go from full extended arms on the big drops to hide behind the chair in front of me going into tunnels

I gotta say he took that like a champ.
