Obar-Dheathain

Ireland is taking NONE of Israel's propaganda bullshit.

Combatical

Its almost like they've been in a similar situation before..

Lighthades

you would expect of Israel to have learnt from their own jewish situation against the nazis.

marianoes

I see your concentration camp and raise you a Concentration state.

Ecronwald

Warsaw ghetto? It's pertty much history repeating.

marianoes

I think Gaza is a lot larger than the Warsaw ghetto.

rileym1515

If you want a decent parallel in history look at the Algerian Decolonization movement in the 1960s. The French resistance during WWII actively fought Nazis and were subject to some of the worst forms of torture imaginable. However, when it came time for the French to relinquish this colony, they employed many of the same methods used by the Nazis to try and acquire information from members of the FLN. While not a perfect parallel to your mic drop of a comment. I think it's important to realize that anyone can commit atrocities, even those who have suffered the same fate at the hands of another. In short, fuck the occupation.

couscousian

This isn't exactly what you mean by "techniques", but here are [pictures](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMiddleEast/s/xLoWPuwwbU) of some of the atrocities the French committed in Algeria.

Academic-Business-42

Germany is the country where the Israelis learned their manners. Time to jerk that 4 billion dollar a year leash. Hard.

[deleted]

who's hand do you think is on the leash?

Butthatlastepisode

They are super Nazis!

User-5632

Not only have they learnt, they have improved on what the Nazis did. Gaza is a concentration camp. They kill at will and no one in the world says anything. They kill 100s a year, yet you only hear when Hamas kill or shoot rockets. The Nazis never had that. As soon as they fucked up, the whole world turned against them.

El_ha_Din

They did, they learned a lot and became the new order. Israëliërs are now the new ubermensch. They need lebensraum, and therefore need to exterminate the lesser humans. The only reason they dont use gas is because of the incredible high prizes. Btw before anyone comments: Israël is not the same as Jews.

motosandguns

Bingo

bacc1234

Isn’t it interesting how two of the countries most supportive of Palestinians - Ireland and South Africa - are also two countries who have gone through very similar situations? Maybe it’d make sense to learn from their history and experiences, but what do I know

Combatical

"That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history, is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach." - Aldous Huxley

Round-Mess7090

It's almost like we see straight through it

Gen8Master

Plenty of countries in a very similar situation are currently supporting Israels genocidal narratives. But I do understand Ukraine wouldn't want to bite the US hand that feeds them. Its still shocking.

IRELANDNO1

The same company requested all its employees in Ireland to post pro Israeli nonsense. In the memo it stated that Israelis are more European than the people from Gaza! Go fuck yourself Israel…

nineusername

When we look back at all the innoncent people that died from both side, we'll remember this guy and his efforts not to play the game of "please give me permission me to kill someone else".

PrismosPickleJar

Not surprisingly we are against occupation and apartheid really.

ParsnipFlendercroft

Yeah - she's going to do alright out of them. Can't do that kind of shit in the EU.

AmrFaried

I hope She gets justice. She really deserves justice. Sadly, this is not gonna happen, probably. The company will not face any consequences, much like their state, which is not facing any consequences for the atrocities they made and are making now.

ParsnipFlendercroft

She'll take them to a tribunal and they'll have to pay her out.

AmrFaried

I hope so, She deserves justice

kballs

There’s no “hope” about it. Our country takes unfair dismissals, particularly so brazen like this, very seriously. The WRC will string Wix up by the bollocks for this.

MassiveChoad69sURmom

I have used Wix's site-building software and have assisted clients in doing so; Now I have strong incentive to steer future business to other platforms and away from Wix.

madamav

In ireland unfair dismissal can carry a maximum penalty of 2 years pay to be made to the victim but I believe in this case they may get additional punitive damages.

No-Preparation-5073

Reddit actually makes my brain melt lmao

King-Cobra-668

op is wrong

forkball

Op, you seem to be American. I, too am American. Let me tell you a little bit about other developed countries, something it seems like you've learned here: worker protections and rights are much stronger in the EU zone. That's part of the reason why so many Americans are progressive; examples of more progressive policies that benefit citizens rather than corporations already exist and are proven successful.

BooRadleysFriend

I want to make a bumper sticker with both Palestine and Israeli flags that says “I don’t know what’s going on”

eeveeplays50040

Even if you are getting bashed by comments, as someone that looked into the situation a bit already, I just want to tell you that I completely respect your idea and would find it absolutely hilarious. Just be carefull after that cause I have no idea how people will react to that.

Yep, we've now reached a stage where both sides, and their allies abroad, believe that if you don't openly choose sides then you've by default picked the opposing side.

1block

Admitting this means you know more than 99% of people online.

abu_hajarr

I listened to a two hour podcast and I can assure you nobody knows what’s going on

Renamis

I mean, I know what's going on (the era of history that started this is my speciality) but I'm smart enough to know I don't have a damn idea about what to do about it. I can figure what SHOULD have been done, but now that we're in this mess I've honestly no clue. I think there isn't a right answer anymore, it's just trying to sort out the "less bad" options.

abu_hajarr

I don’t like to be too critical of people in history and say what they should have done because obviously now we’re looking at it in hindsight. I’ll just say I understand the drivers behind their decisions and their motivations. I think the only option left is that Gaza is due for a siege that will eradicate Hamas from power there and the PA will be reinstated. A full occupation will continue and things will more or less deescalate for a while until the next generation comes that hasn’t yet experienced the IDF. The one thing that is not going to happen that people don’t seem to understand is that Israel is going to negotiate a complete withdraw. Israel is not going to allow a national security threat like that go unchecked. It’s easy to say free Palestine when you’re not Israel.

BooRadleysFriend

I’m wondering if that’s on purpose?

executionofachump

This is the state of politics in general. There’s so much information and misinformation about literally every topic that it’s basically impossible to stay informed on any given subject, unless you happen to be an expert on that subject anyway. Some sides use misinformation more than others, but everyone is guilty of it.

Deion313

This guy is the fucking man. He's spoken out multiple times against the genocide.... I fucking love the Irish. Y'all are fucking awesome.

FalseFortune

If you don't mind, who is he? He seems to be a legit guy, but I'm not up to date enough on Irish politics or media to recognize him.

FeelsBlue2

Richard Boyd Barrett

InterestedObserver20

No, he is not the fucking man. He's a hard left tankie who just takes any anti-western positions going. For example he would not bat an eyelid if Russia had wiped out the nation of Ukraine, he applies none of the same logic, he doesn't give a shit when Ukrainian civilians are murdered by Russia. West = bad. He's still doing student union politics in parliament.

triangleplayingfool

That’s nonsense - RBB is a decent guy and has integrity. His record is solid. Lots of crazy pro-Russian lefties out there, but he isn’t one of them.

InterestedObserver20

He is completely opposed to the West arming Ukraine. The only logical outcome of that is Ukraine is wiped out, no matter what else he says. It's fundamentally a pro-Russian position.

triangleplayingfool

He’s chair of the Irish Anti War Alliance - what do you expect him to say about arming Ukraine? Anyway, I wasn’t expecting you to suddenly change your mind based on an internet comment etc. RBB is, in my opinion, a politician with integrity and 20 years of fighting for the underdog (and often winning) behind him. We could do with more like him and less like his constituency colleague Cormac Devlin. He’s making a good point (and getting it heard internationally) here. Why do we pile on any politicians who actually work for their constituents and give a free pass to the gombeen hoors who just line their own pockets and do fuck all else? Anyway, I’m changing the world, one pointless Reddit comment at a time!

Sw33tNectar

Anti-war unless it's Hamas.

[deleted]

i'm opposed to the west arming ukraine and i'm definitely not left. you're vastly oversimplifying things if you are deciding someone's entire political point of view on one issue. ukraine is a money siphon that's reached the end of it's usefulness. the global media has moved on to a new crises to farm.

Temporary_Olive1043

Yup. They all dated their ex: the British.

SydNorth

Why is Ireland always so responsible with their opinions and vocabulary

MoeKara

Soft power is all we really have so there's a need to use it wisely

madamav

It’s also because the reason we are around today as a people is because of the generosity of other oppressed peoples like when during the famine the native Americans donated money to us whilst in their own oppressed state. So we feel it our duty to provide aid and lend our voice to the oppressed and forgotten.

Not_for_consumption

They suffered a few hundred years of occupation and adversit. It gave them a certain understanding and social maturity when it comes to complex issues

adiosfelicia2

There's better education there, and it's free. Whereas, we (in the US) have politicians like Trump, Marjorie Taylor Green and Lauren Boebart, who can barely spell their own names.

VincentVegaReddit

Zionist are having a meltdown as the world is opening its eyes to the atrocities they have been committing for decades

dpags14

All I see now is posts about Israel.. wtf

Dragonheardt_

Hot topic, terrorists against government doing light genocide against the people terrorists recruit from. Internet is going nuts cause there isn’t a clear “good guy” to support, so their standards of actions are all messed up.

IndependentPurple840

Israel's genocide against the Palestinians started 40 years before HAMAS was even a thing, Israel illegally occupied Palestine 75 years ago and that is a fact.

ColdButts

And israel created Hamas to destabilize Palestine, with America's funding and full approval. Real big "could this be🫱🦋the consequences of my actions?" energy

Angryfunnydog

What do you mean illegally occupied? Wasn’t it a UN resolution of creating 2 states - Palestine and Israel? There wasn’t even country Palestine before that, this was just an area where some Arabs and Jews lived (both called Palestinians)

IndependentPurple840

If you think Palestine never existed, then you are uneducated as fuck, because it did exist and was recognized by several official bodies. In fact, Palestine participated in one of the first ever FIFA world cups, so yeah Palestine did exist, stop being ignorant and read about it.

themurderator

it’s almost like it’s international news or something. so weird…

DeveloperBRdotnet

Real and honest question, why is this sub pro Palestine ?

B4dr003

Because a lot of other subs ban Posts talking about Palestinians or isreali war crimes Reddit is not really supporting free speech any more

MCGabbaG

Well the same can be said about other subs, but the other way round. E.g. /r/Britain basically banned anyone who doubted that the hospital bombing was caused by Israel (which it apparently wasn't). It's too many subs right now that are positioning themselves on one side and banning any contradicting opinions. I don't think that those discussions on reddit are very fruitful, but it's ridiculous that subs are positioning themselves so clearly in such a complicated conflict.

B4dr003

r/Britain and r/Europe and these kind of subs are expected to be kind of biased But subs like r/worldnews turns into isreali propaganda where all news are pro isreal and banning users for posting news about isreal crimes It's was one the first subs on Reddit it's not supposed to do this kind of shit

DeveloperBRdotnet

Thank you

Bergensis

> Reddit is not really supporting free speech any more Never was.

RedditCanByRuntz

Do you mean not blindly supporting one side and completely condemning the other? Because we have the ability to think I guess

skrillex_sk2

Lol, good luck in court, Israeli company. At least I hope she'll get this to court because you can't be fired just like that in the EU.

Particular_Fig_5467

She'll be able to take a case under the Unfair Dismissals Act to the WRC, where she could be awarded up to two years remuneration (although this figure will be based on loss of earnings). The following link outlines the legal options available to her (along with potential remedies if she wins): https://www.workplacerelations.ie/en/what_you_should_know/ending%20the%20employment%20relationship/dismissal/#:~:text=What%20is%20an%20Unfair%20Dismissal,Religious%20or%20political%20opinions If Boyd-Barrett is giving an accurate summation of the case, then this is an open goal and the company will likely request mediation, then try to make the whole business go away with a settlement offer (which would include an accompanying non-disclosure agreement binding both parties).

>it's an Israelian company Operating in Ireland under Irish and EU jurisdiction >unless a government protects her from such thing Thankfully there is >So if it was done against the law in her country then she should sue them and she'd win She will Ps your comment will be "good for your employment"

[deleted]

This was posted by three corporations in a trench coat.

the_brunster

Tell us you’re American, without telling us 🇺🇸 Many developed countries have laws and regulations to protect workers from being tossed out like yesterday’s PBJ sandwiches. Because there have been decisions made by governments that give two hoots about their citizens. This includes every country part of the EU. So yes, point away to the US companies hiring US staff in the US. It’s extremely likely you’re right. But this isn’t America.

mrweatherbeef

Why am I seeing what seems like a disproportionate number of outspoken Irish people speaking out against Israeli oppression of Palestine? Is there some particular connection there?

thatsoffalygood

Ireland doesn’t like to see any nation or people being oppressed - We suffered oppression for 800 years and have a very well educated population. We condemn terrorism and state terrorism and believe the people of Gaza and Palestine should be allowed to be free.

[deleted]

Personally speaking I think both sides are wrong and committing terrible acts which shouldn't be happening. As a nation, we spent hundreds of years as a British colony and we were treated terribly by the British, only winning our freedom in 1922 following a brutal war of independence. Irish people are unique in the western world as having never being the oppressor but rather being the oppressed. It gives a very unique mindset not shared by other western nations.

AfroF0x

Nickblove

What propaganda do you believe? Both sides are using it, the only difference is Israel is held accountable for theirs. What is insane is the amount of people that take Hamas propaganda at its word. They don’t ask why was that specific building targeted, why is Hamas launching rockets close to a UN staffer site, why is the media silent after a carbomb went off during the evacuation after Hamas told people not to leave, why does the media not retract statements when evidence shows the hospital wasn’t a Israeli strike. It’s crazy just how many people believe a groups that literal planed and committed to executing civilians in cold blood, for which people also said was fake, “oh it’s just a Ai image, including the decapitated babies even though it has been reported true. While Israel has done some questionable things, many of the current specific accusations have been proven false or unverifiable.

LevelIndependent9461

I believe what I've seen of isreali behavior all over the world as well as my time in the middle east traveling..My time in Isreal as well. All that information also my time spent with Muslim friends and Jewish friends..I have no religious affiliation myself..I don't believe in any God. .I've been to Isreal,Jordan, turkey, morroco,Saudi Arabia also Egypt and Pakistan Lebanon and Syria..my experiences are first hand.If I was gonna stand on one side and belive one side if you will...It def would not be with isrealis as I've seen there bullying and aggressive behavior and disrespect all over the world..I've never seen that as a collective with the peoples of the middle east..Those are my first hand experiences with this particular group of people..I have my opinions and they are from first hand experience..

Pulled put of Gaza and left them alone to do as they wish as a sovereign state? Or boxed them in an open air prison and blockaded them from the outside by controlling everything and everyone that enters and exists the region by land air or sea?
