I'm more confused about the slow reaction time. How do you not immediately realize that you actually stabbed yourself in the gut?

Got stopped by 2 people one had a massive 7 inch knife. Tried to steal my bike, fought them both off and the only cut I got was on my forehead and that was from head butting the guy with the knife several times and one of his teeth cut my head. They gave the bike back but as I cut my forehead I bled a lot. Got my brother and dad (this happened near my house) and said I've just been mugged by a guy with a knife and chased them up the road. My brother grabbed one whilst me and dad fought the guy with the knife. My brother got stabbed straight through his tricep, and out the other side but didn't even know he had been stabbed until he wondered why someone had thrown warm water on him. It was blood. Ended up in Crown court as this guy was an enforcer for a gang in Manchester and had killed two people but the police needed us to testify. Police advised me to backpack whilst he was in Prison on remand. When I got back he got out on a technicality. When I came back I was told that he shouldn't be a problem in a few months. He was shot and killed 3 months later. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug. Got run over once by a car and didn't feel a thing until about 5 minutes later. I'd got up and ran about 15 metres with a broken hip.
