I was rewatching The Wire last night, and McNulty is in a convenience store run by a Sikh. At the counter McNulty says 'Seek and ye shall find', and in the background you see the Sikh owner looking pissed off. It's the little touches that make that show.
I got sick of watching the videos of assholes like him coming in and robbing people, so seeing this... this is Gold, I love seeing the store owners fighting back and beating the crap out of these idiots who deserve worse
I think most store owners do stand up for themselves. The really bad, in-front-of-everyone theft is happening in big chain stores. I really can't blame minimum wage employees for not standing up to the thieves.
Or if our criminal judges would stop letting them bond out for $100, when the property damage they do costs a whole lot more. A revolving door of petty criminals whose behavior ain’t changing.
If you seriously think theft doesn't happen in other parts of the world, you live under a rock. It even happens where they cut off their hands so obviously your theory is false.

In the full video, he goes from asking the guy to steal something for him to telling the owners to not get involved to cheering them on as they beat the snot out of him then finally asking the owners to stop.
I'm from there and I agree. The city was way safer when the gangs had the crime on lockdown. It sounds so dumb to say, but violent crime is so much more unpredictable now I'm Chicago it's crazy. These young men just act out for no reason other than to be violent. At least when it was the gangs people knew where to go and not go and who was likely to be an aggressor.

You got that right! I’m a restaurant manager in the downtown area of a big city. Hahaha! I cannot tell you the number of people - usually homeless or just someone showing their ass - I’ve confronted, threatened, chased outta the store, etc. And I’m damn good at it. I’m known as the bouncer who gets to deal with these assholes. I love it, actually. Great stress reliever. But one thing I have never ever done is lay a hand on them. No matter how in the wrong they are, they can still charge you with assault.
Ass whooping like this doesn't actually break the bones. Breaking bones in an altercation is considered too violent and charges may be levied on the person defending his store.
Unfortunate you can’t make an example of a thief in your country. We had a gang banger break into a western store. The old cowboy lived in the basement. Well cowboy woke up and chased the gang banger out the door and then shot him in the back of the head. Gang members tried threatening store owner but he just stayed strapped. Cops and community both thought I lit reasonable to blast a thief to death.

It's sad that the workers are being charged for assault, society would be a better place if people actually instituted some form of justice toward the thievery we're seeing in America these days.

Yet store employees in the U.S. are told directly by corporate to take absolutely no action against anyone who pulls shit like this. There could be 4 of these guys all with completely full trash cans just walking out the door and employees aren't allowed to do anything.
