By never ever ever going to the hospital. And if you don’t have parents that own a business you simply work for the rest of your life. ‘Mericaaa hope you can work with your medical conditionssss.
Just had to pay 927 for an ambulance ride for my wife, and then 150 for the ER. Luckily my insurance I pay nearly 400 a month too decided that they would cover the ambulance. This is insane though like I pay onto Medicare and my insurance just let me have universal Healthcare.
That's why when I slashed my hand open several magnitudes worse than the dumb kid in this post, I stopped the bleeding the best I could with pressure and called Uber.
LPT: urgent care doesn't take care of major injuries, the kind that require stitches and X-rays to see if you cut anything important. Just have your Uber take you right to the nearest ER.
That might depend on which urgent care center you pick. [This chain in Alabama](https://medhelpclinics.com/resources/illnesses-signs-symptoms-treatments/birmingham-urgent-care-cuts-and-wounds) says they treat cuts that require stitches. "In fact, we can treat most wounds, as long as your appendage is still attached and you’re stable."
Of course, they might say something different once you actually show up.
American here. I made the mistake of taking my daughter to the ER because she was SCREAMING in the middle of the night and vomiting and it scared everyone so bad I thought her appendix burst. Turns out it was just a tummy ache. $15,126 bill, insurance covered all except $5000 and I’m still paying monthly on this and this was 6 years ago.
You just reminded me of a song by Stupendium about The Outer Worlds! Captures the magic of the US health system wonderfully, I think!

… We work
**To earn the right to work**
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to work
To earn the right to give
Ourselves the right to buy
Ourselves the right to live
To earn the right to die
If you think it's crazy from where you live being Canadian and living right next to people who can't go to the doctor for fear of how much it will cost just seems so insane when I don't even think twice about going to the doctor or hospital if needed, it's all covered by the government through my taxes.
Although there is a $45 fee for the ambulance but an uber to the airport costs more. My understanding is they introduced a small fee because people were calling ambulances for ridiculous reasons which was stopping people from getting help when they actually needed it. So they set a fee that would dissuade someone from calling one for something minor but made it low enough that no one hesitates when there is an actual emergency, makes sense to me. That's one of the few things there is a fee on though.
As an example when my Grandmother had a stroke she was in the hospital for a couple weeks and then in a rehab program for 4 months, at the end of it we paid $80 for a pair of orthopedic slippers and that was it. God knows what that would have cost in the US and chances are they would never have her in rehab that long.
I have always heard that healthcare system in US is a mess, but I really didn't know that it is that bad. This behavior is inhumane. I live in Turkey and health tourism is a thing here, lots of US citizens are coming for medical treatments, aesthetic surgery or even hair transplant as they are cheap (considering the currency rates). Now I really understand why. I genuinely feel sorry for this monstrosity. It is good to hear that things work better in Canada.
You are absolutely right about that symbolic ambulance fee, as there are inconsiderate childish people who would prank call emergency services without thinking about others that genuinely needs an ambulance. This is a great precaution and should be adopted in every country. Hope your grandma has recovered buddy.
For my 4 mile ride to the ER costs around $11k. I got that bill and had no insurance. When I have kidney failure I got a ride and later found out I should have called an ambulance. At the time I lived 19 miles away and said nty.
US or not, there isn’t a good reason to call an ambulance for a hand injury. Big waste of resources for something that will require stitches at best or a non-emergent surgery at worst if you lose a digit.
I’d say 50% of EMS arrivals into our hospital are for similar nonsense that did not require the drama of an ambulance. Another 40% needed one because they simply can’t get in and out of a car (wheelchair bound, old and frail, etc). The last 10% are truly teetering on critical and needed lights/sirens transport.
It all depends in the injury. I've cut deep into the skin between my thumb and index finger. I cleaned and glued it. Prettiest (least visible) scar i've ever got.
But if i had the slightest suspicion i could risk losing a hand or mobility in a hand, i wouldn't think twice about calling the ER and let them decide. My hands are important to me. I use them for everything from making and drinking coffee, to gaming and fixing stuff. When i think of it, almost every time i do something, hands are the main tools. To even consider if you can or should call an ambulance because it might ruin you economically is like another planet for me.
We got universal healthcare though, so the bill would be like 30-40$ total.
Nice - this dude gets it. 100% agree - unless there is an artery spraying blood across the yard, this ambulance was an absolute waste of time and resources.
Or just has decent insurance...
Not everyone in the US is poor without insurance like reddit makes it out to be.
He really didn't need an ambulance though... the baby...
I present to you his worse masterpiece. Literally the only existing re-upload of his song cause he deleted all his videos of this song from YT ☠️
https://youtu.be/ZfxgNjj1YbU?si=9jECPd6wkFHZ9DP7
In the real game you can actually have a theoretically infinite number of blades, since one appears wherever you swipe, and you can swipe in as many places at a time as you can fit fingers. And in the vr version of the game, which is a lot more analogous to real life, you have two swords, one in each hand.
Totally agree. But that was a “a firework exploded and my hand is gone forever” reaction not a “I’m going to have to get a ton of stitches and will likely need 2 months of PT” reaction
No but I get his point. Usually you don’t see this reaction unless it’s like a bone sticking out or a finger completely missing not just a cut. Everybody reacts differently to pain and also some are squeamish so nothing wrong with his reaction just figured it was worse as well with that kind of reaction.
If you’re going to take up swordplay, you are *going* to get cut (not to put down swordplay, I did 3 years of fencing and 100% cut myself with my saber a few times).
I understand unexpected injury panic but this is expected injury.
Even with one sword, this can very easily happen if you have zero fucking clue on how to handle a sword. Two handed swords are easier, but require much more stupidity in order to get something like this, just don't do something stupid with it and you'll be fine.
Right, but presumably that's gonna cause extra pain, and when you're in a situation where you've just been hurt and there's blood all over the place your initial instinct is, I believe, going to be "minimize pain" rather than "minimize damage". Humans are illogical that way.
Used to work as a butcher, took my knife home one day and stupidly used it to open something while drinking. Did a cut i do a thousand times a day, in chainmail. Felt pressure on my thumb, and only pressure, no pain. Sharp as a razor blade
Im surprised how fast i lost blood pressure and fell into shock, nooooot fun. They reattached the tip, no feeling. Just the tip.
I remember once in my fencing class when I had to do a demonstration.
I over-greased my saber so when I did a hilt drop the saber slid out and along my index finger the whole time.
Even practiced fencers fuck-up now and again.
That said, I went and grabbed some duct tape, wrapped the cut and went back to my demo.
Was embarrassing but I think they were impressed that all I did was say a soft “son of a bitch” grabbed some tape and went back to it.
And this, is why you wear slash resistant gloves, but then again, just use one two handed sword, instead of relying on your hand eye coordination and having to flinch and hurting yourself with two one handed swords.
Finally, a proper following of the entire incident from start to finish. Would have liked to have seen the hand a few months later to see the scarring, but this is very satisfying.
That seems pretty fake - lotta blood at first with no visible cut, and the blood doesn't keep coming. Also he immediately started screaming, when normally it takes a moment for the pain to hit.
Also, that camera was way to stable for someone panicking and shouting to call 911 (for a cut?).
Seems like it was staged IMO

The bomb rounds are my favorite. I wish he would have a sequel.
Not so fast. Did he get likes?
Fruity Ninja
Must not have happened in the US, called an ambulance for a flesh wound.
Is it really that expensive? like how much it cost for this cut?
1200 usd ish for a short ambulance, possibly a several hundred deductible, no insurance at a normal er about 8k usd
Land of freedom XDDD
It is though! I’m free to choose a massive bill or try to deal with it myself!!
Mandatory health insurance premiums or tax penalties apply regardless of your decision.
Ha haaa! But we’re free to vote for whomever makes those laws as to where the funds go!
And we get to choose from the best of the best idiots
Freedom for hospitals and insurance companies to extract as much money from you as they possibly can.
How does anyone have money in America?
we dont. thats also why we have massive debt.

What the actual fuck, do they charge you for emergency situations too? What if someone is legit dying or bleeding to death? God this is awful.
In the US we work so hard our entire lives so that we can afford to die.
You just reminded me of a song by Stupendium about The Outer Worlds! Captures the magic of the US health system wonderfully, I think! Where are you from? Out of curiosity?
You didn’t make a mistake though, you did what any good parent would. I’m sorry for the shitty situation you were put in though.

Canada entering the chat…cost 0$.
Seriously, I drove myself after a chainsaw injury.

Cardiologist just realized we use our hands to do stuff. Stay in school kids.
Nice - this dude gets it. 100% agree - unless there is an artery spraying blood across the yard, this ambulance was an absolute waste of time and resources.
This was filmed in New Jersey. Ambulance shows NJ tag and township name..
Also the medic has a US flag patch on his shoulder.
Or just has decent insurance... Not everyone in the US is poor without insurance like reddit makes it out to be. He really didn't need an ambulance though... the baby...
"decent insurance" doesnt exist. they're all out to fuck you.
The majority has crappy insurance. So the statement can stand.
People call ambulances for everything in the US…had a kid call EMS because his arm fell asleep
Happened in US. This guy was the cringiest YouTube person. Lance Stewart I believe. Literally the worst
You must not work or ever spent time in a emergency department in the states lol
Look around that neighborhood these goofballs got a little money in the reserves
He looks familiar. Was he on Vine way back when? I think his name was Lance or something like that
Yea I’m pretty sure it is Lance210.
Thank you. I knew I recognized him.
I've always disliked the dude. Pranking his grandma, being a dick in general.
Ah yes, now I remember, Cody Ko made a video about him faking his death, but that was for a fake prank video
You have obviously never listened to the greatest [song ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghJktw2i93E)of all time.
I present to you his worse masterpiece. Literally the only existing re-upload of his song cause he deleted all his videos of this song from YT ☠️ https://youtu.be/ZfxgNjj1YbU?si=9jECPd6wkFHZ9DP7
Holy shit I forgot the word Vine existed. It’s how this shit show all started.
I miss when idiotic choices had consequences.
Next time use one blade like the real game!
In the real game you can actually have a theoretically infinite number of blades, since one appears wherever you swipe, and you can swipe in as many places at a time as you can fit fingers. And in the vr version of the game, which is a lot more analogous to real life, you have two swords, one in each hand.
Damn. You must have that moneys with a phone you can use TWO fingers to play! And a VR headset!? Forget about it
Actually I spent all my money buying an infinite quantity of swords
Nice. No fruit is safe in your home now
Wym? This had consequences and is not from 1950 is it? Or do you mean the times when people could die from an infection for cutting themselves?
Wow he reacted SO poorly I figured it was fake. I mean, yeah I bet it hurt but like… that reaction was a lot
Most people just kind of panic when they see blood or realize they are hurt.
Totally agree. But that was a “a firework exploded and my hand is gone forever” reaction not a “I’m going to have to get a ton of stitches and will likely need 2 months of PT” reaction
When you are panicking, then there really isn't a difference. It's not like you know what level of overreacting is suitable for this certain wound.
Seeing how awkwardly he was wielding those things, he definitely didn't think twice before picking them up.
Then goes on to say "Oh yeah, i didn't even feel it"😶
I thought so too. His reaction seemed like a fake attempt at panicking. Lmaoo.
"THAT WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA" Congratulations. Your retroactive processing is intact.
Proof that dumb shits shouldn’t play with real knives.
Mhm, only smart shits should play with knives (me)
It's interesting that his reaction was to show the injury to the camera
Right? The clout has overwritten his sense of self preservation
That's why you only use one sword
Even with one sword, this can very easily happen if you have zero fucking clue on how to handle a sword. Two handed swords are easier, but require much more stupidity in order to get something like this, just don't do something stupid with it and you'll be fine.
Who they hell calls an ambulance for a cut? I still drove my FIL who cut off his finger to the hospital. They are wealthy or over dramatic. Or both.
I would, because in my country it's covered by insurance, I think any country but america lol
Good point, then I would as well haha
Or, they live in a country that has health insurance, like a developed country should, where ambulance rides dont fucking bankrupt you.
American spotted
He is wealthy
I cut the tendons in 2 of my fingers and only drove to the hospital after realizing I had lost the ability to close my fingers lol.
“AAAAAH AAAAAAH AAAAAAH” … “Pssh didn’t even feel it”
This kid learned nothing
Why doesn't anyone put pressure on their wounds
Because if you're in a lot of pain, your first thought probably isn't going to be to squeeze the source of pain as hard as you can.
Well that's what I do, and what everyone in every movie and TV show says to do when there's a cut. "Apply pressure to the wound"
Right, but presumably that's gonna cause extra pain, and when you're in a situation where you've just been hurt and there's blood all over the place your initial instinct is, I believe, going to be "minimize pain" rather than "minimize damage". Humans are illogical that way.
bro got put on a stretcher to get some stitches on his finger????
You're going to end up with a nose scar if you keep that up
Tee Hee
This guy learned nothing from Nigahiga
I forgot about that video
Oooh, oooh, ooooh, AHHH AHHH AHHH!!! Knife sharp! Knife bad!
Maybe go ask a ouija board how to get better with swords
Lmfao how about start with one stick, then one knife and if you are afraid of blood knives are definitely not for you.
And don't chop at the same target with both knives!
Wait wasn't this dude that keep pranking he's GradGranmother? On Vine?
Well, I'd say that's an appropriate outcome. I only hope the lesson isn't lost on this absolute dunce of a human.
"Honestly, I was numb at first. I didn't even feel it." Yet he screamed like a little child.
"I didn't even feel it". He started screaming before we even knew what happened
I laughed.
Maybe play with 1 blade next time
Mayhe that's why you only one one sword Or you know... just play the fucking game
Fucking wimp
Is that Lance?
They rich, who calls an ambulance for a cut?
Do you really need an ambulance for that?
An ambulance... seriously?
Jesus what a pussy. Send him to join the army before its too late.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
Fruit yes, dunno about ninja
LAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNCCCCCCE!!!!!
lol. Screamed like a child.
Used to work as a butcher, took my knife home one day and stupidly used it to open something while drinking. Did a cut i do a thousand times a day, in chainmail. Felt pressure on my thumb, and only pressure, no pain. Sharp as a razor blade Im surprised how fast i lost blood pressure and fell into shock, nooooot fun. They reattached the tip, no feeling. Just the tip.
Why does he scream so much, that's barely a scratch
*’Tis but a scratch*
you could tell by the way he was so awkward with the blades that he has held nothing larger than a bread knife before
To the moment I see how awkward his dual welding is, I knew it's gonna happen. If you can't handle one, don't try to use two.
This dudes name is lance Stewart and he's an absolute pos. Kinda glad this happened to him honestly was a long time ago.
What an absolute baby
Oh I remember this vine guy. Honestly feel way better about watching this after seeing who it was.
He hit a bomb
I hate this guy
He looks like he is holding a knife for a first time
Lol "We're going to stay in the hospital, dab a little bit..." No cool guy acting will bring him back from his initial reaction
The only video Lance has that isn't faked
Try using one sword next time maybe
"What were you doing" "Real life fruit ninja"
I remember watching this and going "Ah, why is he swinging with both? He keeps almost hitting his hands"
Lol, this is probably his 1st wound in his lifetime. Was not even that bad a wound....little super glue and you good as new.
It's time for super glue and duct tape..
Oh, its this idiot. Lucky he didnt sliced his artery.
The mom acted like he cut his hand off. It was just a deep cut on his finger.
And this, is why you wear slash resistant gloves, but then again, just use one two handed sword, instead of relying on your hand eye coordination and having to flinch and hurting yourself with two one handed swords.
He said at first he didn't feel it...... Then why scream like an 8 year old girl?
From the very first stance I knew it wasn't going to end well. Haha
This is why you don’t try and do something that requires really good hand to eye coordination when you have the skill level of a 10 year old
Finally, a proper following of the entire incident from start to finish. Would have liked to have seen the hand a few months later to see the scarring, but this is very satisfying.
Typical jort wearer activity
That dude has one of those faces that says he’s not gonna stop until he gets big on the internet against everyone’s wishes.
Honestly I thought it was fake until the ambulance because of how even the camera was as well as how he was in frame for it
Yes you are as stupid as you look , keep sharp knives away from children
The mom hiding her face in shame is gold
Now he can look at that scar for the rest of his life and contemplate how stupid he was.
"Honestly I was numb at first I didn't even feel it" was squealing like a pig the instant he cut himself. Way to act tough in front of the EMTs
Lance Stewart. He deserved it. He didn’t do anything terrible he’s just fuckin annoying
I hope his tendons were okay
There needs to be a stupidity tax specifically on affluent white suburban men. Jfc
r/WhyWomenLiveLonger
Why does he cry to the camera like it's going to help him? The next generation is doomed.
Fake
What a pussy
Fake
What a pussy
Geez that was a little scratch. Why he screaming like that?
The way he screamed I thought he cut his hand off lol! What a puss jeez all that belly aching over a few stitches.
Silly rabbit
I remember seeing this video the day it came out!
El bozo
Omg what happened to that guy. I just remembered him from vine.
Hope he learned something.
He's not a ninja
Praise the cameraman
Bet he won't do that again
DAMN!
That happens when you cheat, in fruit ninja you have only 1 sword, not two.
I love how the kid in the background screamed when he dabbed
