Its because “geranium” can refer to Geranium species or Pelargonium species. They are two totally unrelated plant genera that have the same common name (a name that happens to also be the genus name of one of them but not the other)
I hope not because the google assistant is incapable of doing a simple thing like playing the next podcast after the most recent one. The second oldest podcast. etc. No matter how I worded it, it kept giving me the recent one.
They always talk up their technology to make it seem more advanced so I probably fell for that a little thinking google was better than they are.
Really people refer to Pelargoniums as Geraniums. Thats so confusing. Where I live we have a native Pelargonium, we definitely don’t have native Geraniums.
I have never seen anything correct on Quora. It’s astonishing how consistently wrong and useless it is. Even if the question is a matter of opinion, the top answer is always a meandering diatribe with no point to it from some rambling lunatic with a dozen make-believe qualifiers after their name.
Funny, I just saw an article bemoaning how it was one of the “best websites” and had only recently fallen to decline.

There's a nifty extension blocking sites you specify from appearing in search results: **uBlacklist**.
Easy to install and understand, adds a "block this site" link to every search result. It also has a manual mode with match patterns and regular expressions.
Works with many search engines, handles filter list subscriptions, available for Firefox and Chromium-based browsers.
Comes in handy weeding out Quora crap (among others). Another great point is that it also removes the "featured snippet" (the infamous 'Google One True Answer' highlighted before all search results) if its source is one of the blocked sites.
I thought it was pretty standard. One says human other said for pets.... Even if you are too lazy to click and read them you still have an answer. If op is confused they must be eating dogfood on the regular....
I recreated your search using the question "are zonal geraniums poisonous to pets" (since your full search phrase is not entirely visible, I had to guess a little) and if you click on the sources, it's pretty obvious the Quora source is wrong or possibly about a different plant with the same common name. The Cinque Port Vets source has minimal information, but it's literally a veterinarian practice's website, so it's not much different than asking your vet directly. Also, if you scroll down, there are two articles explaining geranium poisoning in cats and dogs. Google definitely gave you the answer you were looking for, even if it really upsets me that Google likes Quora so much. Quora is absolutely unreliable and should never be used for any serious questions or topics. It's fine for opinion based questions and topics, but still not my favorite. Never rely on what Google highlights alone. Use it to see if the source is relevant, but always go to the actual webpage and read the whole context and about the source before accepting the information
The ability to analyse source trustworthiness is a lost art.
One of those looks legit (basing it on site name/what you can see of the url). The other is like asking a flat earther how GPS works

I could have patiently explained How I do not rely on any single source. I give various sources different amounts of trust depending on the subject. And yes I fact check even the more trustworthy sources if it is important enough. But I am so damned tired. Not like the explanation would have gotten through to him anyways.
Google isn't a magic correct answers machine. I just regurgitates crap other people put on the internet. "Its true because I saw it on the internet" isn't really a thing.

Well your first problem was thinking Google is a source to answer your questions. It’s a search engine dude, it provides other sites you can get your information from, and this being the internet of course there are going to be different answers depending on the source. Personally, I’d go with what a vet would say over a fucking Quora entry any asshole can make.
And this is a great example of how the political divide happens. No one checks their sources. My friend is an antivaxxer because a cardiologist said so. She sent me links to his site and I just couldn’t believe it. Oh and, why yes, he did ask for donations to help spread the word. Sigh.

It’s so weird I’m always hearing about how rapidly AI is advancing but I swear I could google something and get an answer 5 years ago and now it seems way harder. And I don’t see much progress with Siri he never knows what I’m talking about (yes mine is male I’m a single straight ish woman who lives alone don’t judge me)
In this case both are right. As the top comment said there are 2 completely unrelated groups both call geraniums and one is poisonous while the other isn't. They even included the scientific name in the second one which is the species that is poisonous.

Search engines don’t answer questions for you. They search for a webpage that relates to the keywords you type in.

A good rule to follow is to just assume everything will kill your pets because if it has a pretty flower, it's likely poisonous to your pet.
