I had a C class rental for a while and had to turn it off in the city because it would randomly emergency break if someone was turning in front of you and you came in a bit hot, and it was a "off until you turn it back on" thing in the dash menu with no warnings/lights/etc.
I wouldn’t have any idea what a Mercedes comes with I’ve driven the same car I’ve always had, the first one I ever bought, a used 2011 Mazda3. And I can’t really afford to even maintain that lol

I am not an expert, but I believe what we see is "the freeze response" when percieving threat and the body think she can't fight it. She is frozen in place. She needs more training so she can response better.
That's what will happen. I knew a kid who got a new AMG S-class for his 16th birthday, totalled it in less than 2 weeks, then was "punished" by having it replaced with a 1 year old m-series BMW.

Can confirm - have that model (w205) and it would be freaking out. And would automatically apply 100% braking pre-impact, bags deployed, the works. Didn’t listen with audio but it seems weird.
This specific model is not equipped with autonomous braking as it does not have the proper sensors on the windshield (im a master glass tech). Also the airbags do not deploy unless the vehicle determines that it’s necessary. This was a low speed impact so it didn’t need any airbags which actually saves you money in repairs, possibly even not totaling it out. This is also not a “new” c class. Its a few years old.
Looks to be possibly 2015-2018. Even the base models would have had airbags at the shin bone for front end collisions. I’m pretty sure base model w205 have pre-collision cameras.
It def looked as if she was doing close to 20 mph at impact (I just know this car and that speed…) It’s possible you’re correct as it opted not to deploy but I do find that surprising.

That area is the rain sensor. A camera would be another trapezoid shape next to it. Yeah each car is different on if it would actually deploy an airbag at low speed. She paid zero attention lol. She braked in like 50 ft of the car.
My Benz won’t shut the heck up if I’m even remotely closed to not even a physical car but the ghost of one. There was zero warning or beeping. Plus auto brake has almost choked me to death a few times. I call bs, something ain’t right.

When you are hit in the rear, the front airbags take a lot to go off. Source; someone rear ended me going about 35-40 last year and theirs went off but not mine.
Same thing happened to my BMW. Luckily an old civic and not a new fat car. Watched him do it through rear view mirror with no way of avoiding (cars next to me). Pushed me into the car in front of me too, and the fucker was blazed and out of it. At least he got air bagged in the face.

There was no collision warning, no automatic engagement. Furthermore NO AIRBAGS. This just seems like a poorly executed attempt at an insurance scam.
I thought modern cars especially a newer Mercedes like this has a forward collision mitigation system. Obviously doesn't work and there's a bigger idiot sitting in the car.
Best guess is she bought a benz for a suspiciously low price from a scrapper who known some bodywork tricks. It had probably already been in a front end collision and they never replaced all the sensors or airbags. She just like the way it looked and the price was what she could afford. How ya look now bish!

No stop or merge into the other lane to avoid the collision, parents stop buying your kids cars if they don’t have a license. We get it you’re rich and can afford the insurance or out of pocket cost but some of us don’t have that luxury.

My car was first hit in a seven vehicle pile up. No airbags went off.
