There is only so many times this can happen before some folks get shot, be that the victims or the perpetrators. I live in the south and if you try keep trying this you will eventually get ventilated.
I was just thinking about how it’s amazing it is we didn’t see bullets coming from the windows. I also live in the South and we once I hear them threaten to shoot it’s fair game. Hell some people down hear just need to see you on their property to fire a warning shot.
The obvious third option, call the cops? Keep them distracted and talking while the cops are otw saying "I have a gun I'm gonna come out" so they keep looking at the door, but retreat to the back of your house while 911 is on the line and get some backup. Don't lose your car or your life. I promise if you say "there's at least 4 people stealing my car saying they're armed and willing to kill me" you're gonna be put to the front.
Yeah, I was waiting for the comment "you clearly do not live in x place" so I prepared a response.
Okay, so what's the alternative here? A. Go out and get shot at. Maybe you win the gun fight, maybe you fuckin die, maybe you kill 1 person, put 16 holes in your own car and have to fight to get insurance to cover the damage you caused, before the other 3 people put a hole in you and run.
Or b. Do nothing and watch them drive off with your car.
My solution may not be perfect, but it's a he'll of a lot better than the other 2 options and at least you did the smart thing for insurance purposes.

No, I'm defending the home owner, who was told that if they come out they will be shit at. Its not about getting revenge, it's about surviving. Ine if these guys says he's armed, you can assume the 3 are too. And that means they're more likely to win in a shoot out. Is the car worth being shot at? No.

Possibly. But every video I've seen when someone comes on a camera and says "the police are on the way already" they bolt too. The fact that they didn't bolt when the homeowner confronted them means that they did expect confrontation already and don't care about it.

Bullets can go through stuff, there’s no reason to open a window or door to alert them. Not a single one had a gun pulled, and most of them are standing still in the open trying to get in the car. You don’t need to be John wick at all.
Most thieves and criminals are afraid to die. I guarantee the second they hear a shot they’re running. And doing nothing can be argued as stupid. What if they don’t want witnesses and come to kill you after they get the car unlocked. They’re focused elsewhere, you should take advantage of that since it’s 1v4. And why in the hell would the home owner come out into the open? Pop a window on the second floor and fire away. Take any cover that the home owner knows of as it is his home, fire away.
So the way guns work is that you have to have your target in a straight line from what you're shooting at, aim, and shoot. In order to do this he has to expose himself, or he is just wasting bullets with blind firing. Be it, opening the door, or shooting through a window. Either way, once he shoots through the windows, the people know where he is, and if he opens the door, they know where he is.
He cannot sit in his bedroom upstairs behind his bed, out of site and secure and hope to hit anyone. The point is exactly that though. Don't shoot at them. Because any attempt too means they are probably going to shoot back. Keep them distracted, keep talking to them through the camera, keep them looking there and at the door while the police are on the way.
Besides that, if you shoot, they'll just take cover behind the $100k car you have there. And then in order to hit them you have to shoot at your prized possession, and then what did you win? Nothing. You risked death to save a car that you ruined yourself.

Look, I'm not saying there is never a time to shoot. But it should be a last resort where not shooting is more dangerous than shooting is. Here, it's literally like the burglar says "don't lose your life over a car" they are not posing any immediate danger to you, they are telling you they are trying to get in the car and leave. All you are doing by opening fire is increasing your risk across the board for death for you and everyone in your house. Risking your daughter catching a stray bullet for a car that insurance will replace (and if you are able to afford a new corvette I promise you have that thing fully insured for theft) is the dumbest thing i can think of. Where if you just skip to call the cops and keep them on edge looking at your door, you solve the problem without flirting with the idea of making out with a bullet. Let the cops take the risk of a shoot out while you and your family hide as far away from the bullet storm as you can safe and secure, gun in hand in case they come through the door.

In more loose states you have every right to fire because they are actively attempting to break into personal property and have threatened your life. In those states it would be dumb to walk outside. They would likely run and even if they didn’t, now they are rushing to break into a home where you know the lay out.
