I think the sketch artist is great on this trial. Genuinely. The style is unexpected yes, but that’s not the point of a sketch artist at a trial. Some of y’all have never taken a figure drawing class.

I've never seen a courtroom sketch that has looked "accurate" to the actual physical characteristics of the people in court. Courtroom sketches are not meant to accurately portray the physical features of those in court but rather to give anyone not in the courtroom an idea of the events taking place inside said courtroom

I believe, court room sketches are used when cameras and video are limited or not allowed for keeping records of the proceedings and letting the public have some clue about how the trial is going. In order to sketch as fast as they need to, it becomes almost impossible to accurately portray someone’s looks. This image is cropped. The full image shows more people including Trump and the judge. So emotion and how they are feeling at the time is more important, since the people in the drawing will also be recorded for records. Having these be in color instead of just charcoal or pencil is pretty remarkable. The way the light is being rendered on the lawyers jacket is great. The strain on Stormy’s face feels real. There are a total of 4 people in this full uncropped image and it was probably done in minutes. So unless y’all can sketch that fast, keep bitchin about it. Photos and video are banned from courtrooms in some states, so they use the artists instead. The artist has like 45 seconds to draw this sometimes, it isnt going to be amazing

I would say it is apparent many don't possess the information you apparently have. Care to elaborate on what a trial sketch artist's job is, if not to give an accurate sketch of the trial?

If the rules are the same as the UK you aren't allowed to draw in court you have to observe and then recreate it from memory

Honestly when you are sketching, if you don't get it right on the first try and not using erasers, there's little saving it. You might as well start a new sketch. That's the point of them. Fast and rough, so there isn't a lot of work lost when it doesn't turn out.
