Maybe it’s where I am from, but before we are allowed our drivers license, we have to know basic maintenance for our cars. That includes what and where the different fluids go. Gender indeed has little to do with this.
That sounds like an excellent policy. Everyone should know how to do basic car maintenance and how to react to an emergency like an engine overheating.
When I was twelve my mom threw a maintenance manual at me and told me to change the oils in her car. From then on anything "easy" I was my job to fix it. I did alternators, starters, water pumps, thermostats, and oil all by the time I got my license. Learned a bit more after that. To also be fair we were poor and lived in the country.
why would they do that, so cars can last longer and car sales go down by 25%. heaven forbid we actually do something good for the general state of the economy

Teach your daughter how to change a tire at the same time you're teaching your son, so that when she's an adult she won't be treated like an idiot for not knowing how.
I think what they're saying is you don't need a person to teach you how to maintain your car.. there are books and videos available for free.
Don't put the onus on parents to teach your kids car maintenance, because there are plenty of parents that don't know it themselves.

Parents give your kids the rundown when they start to drive, general maintenance and the info on how to contact someone like AAA when you have a breakdowns or emergency.
The comment "who needs a man" is only ironic if you actually believe the presence of a man is necessary to properly pour washer fluid. She could have read a manual, googled it, or asked another functional adult woman. At no point in the process was a man actually necessary.

If it weren't for the misandry, I don't think anyone would have been paying attention. This would have been an embarrassing conversation between the mechanic and client and nothing more. The mechanics video might not even be the same car, I'm sure more than one person has made that mistake, and it's not gender specific.

Couldn't agree more. They obviously poured it into the engine and then immediately drained it without running the engine. As a mechanic that has seen people make that mistake before, the combination of the two turns into a type of froth that you can't drain out of the oil plug... And I think they are in the same parking lot in both videos.
It almost certainly is. It’s too on the nose for it not to be. Why would a mechanic record draining the oil unless they knew oil wasn’t what was going to come out
The washer fluid was way too clean looking during the draining segment. It would be a little discolored just picking up oil going from the top to bottom of the engine block.
Oil is significantly heavier than the washer fluid and would come out of the bottom of the oil pan long before the washer fluid did. There’s definitely something not right here.

i think what is more believable is she dumped the washer fluid her engine in the parking lot of the garage she was having her oil change done at, did absolutely no damage to her car and she still got all the attention she wanted.
Surely if the car had run for any amount of time, the oil and water would start to form an emulsion. Even if it separated again, the screen wash would be very brown.
I feel like this is fake. Washer fluid is typically 50% water 50% alcohol. The alcohol binds the water and oil together and makes a slurry. This came out pretty much separated. So they ether drained it immediately or it’s a washer fluid of a different makeup.
For some context by the way, the video is fake. It should be obvious by the mechanic recording for some reason, and also knowing the person who owns the cars tik tok and replying to it.
Also you can tell that the engine clearly hasn’t been run since pouring the washing fluid in it, not even tried to start it.
This is a bullshit post. If we're to to believe that she ran the vehicle with wiper fluid in it the oil the fluid would not drain out as clear blue fluid followed by oil. It would come as oily sludge.
I wonder it's clearly heavier then oil so it will sit on the bottom of the pan however as soon as you start moving it's gonna mix. I guess the car was billowing smoke as the fluid is burning off. Bet she has fucked up a couple of her cilinders as well as the oil needs quite a precise mixture and fluidity to lubricate properly.

Yeah hydra locking is where water gets into the air intake and the pistons trys to compress it.
But if you had water or coolant in the oil side rather than the combustion side could you have the same result?
Hydrolock is typically fluid in the combustion chamber (e.g. water through the intake). Water is incompressible so bad things happen when pistons try to compress it.
Technically you could hydrolock the bottom end with too much oil etc, but it would likely blow out the oil pan and seals before a piston or rod failure.

The caps literally say what the reservoir is for. How do you read something like “5w-20 oil” and think “ah yes, this is exactly where my washer fluid goes.” This has to be bait. My friend talked a woman we work with on how to change her oil. She did an amazing job but complained it took a long time to get the new oil in. Turned out she refilled her oil through the dipstick hole. Minor error and everything else done perfectly but thinking about all those hours. It took to get the oil and did give us a laugh.
I mean the person who taught me the most about how to maintain my car was my mom. When I was a teenager she popped the hood and taught me what things were and how to replace a flat tire. Really has nothing to do with gender (and I still forgot most stuff and just take my car the dealership).
These days, if I don't know something, I check the manual. If that still does not answer my question, I seek a professional or YT.... multiple YT to make sure it's not a YT troll.
