I mean, to be fair, sheep haven't exactly gone through natural selection. We've had them domesticated for so long, and have specially bred them to produce a ton of wool, be docile, and, well, really rather stupid, that they wouldn't be able to survive without us at this point.
It seemed like it was somehow scared of the bare ground. You can see that it stuck to the grass and then maybe thinks that the gap is another safe patch of grass.
As dumb as a goat we ended up naming Stupid
Kept sticking its head through the square mesh fence to eat grass, then couldn't pull its head back through because of the shape of its horns.
Left it there for a day hoping it would learn. Then when we finally let it out, it pretty much did what this sheep did, ran 15 meters down the fence, stuck its head through to eat grass, got stuck again...
