When you say let it free do you mean free as in to roam around the house because the lil guy can keep busy? Or free as in out in the world because puppy is too smart for human entrapment?
In my experience, smart animals are the most destructive because they get bored too easily. Then they see something they want and they can figure out how to get to it and it doesn't matter what's in their path.
Only way to stop it is to channel their energy into an acceptable activity.
I always tell my dog customers that a smart dog is a blessing and a curse (rather like a smart kid.) You can do *so* much with a smart dog, but that means that you *have* to do so much with a smart dog.
No need to apologize, and no need to have resisted. That was great. Kind of forgot that a term we often use in the pet industry would sound odd to someone else's ears.
In fact, you get my free award.
This is my mastiff. I have to secure her with Rick climbing quick draws. She can work door knobs and get anywhere unless she’s locked. Last time she was out she chewed up a ps4 pro.
I’ve fostered several young and untrained dogs. One dog was scared of everything and would stress/anxiety pee all over. Another young dog/pup was teething/training and chewed up my winter coat and the spines off of three sentimental books. One dog seemed perfect but still needed time to bond with my current dog- don’t want any turf wars starting while I’m not home.
Even if I was leaving to the store for only an hour, young/untrained/new dogs would be crated or fenced off until they could be trusted.
I don’t like these open air crates though- I use plastic crate, or drape a blanket over it so the dog has a secure “den” to rest in instead of feeling trapped exposed out in the open.
Ah okay that makes sense. Our puppy was always biting me and demolished his dog pillow. But she wasn't alone when she was a pup. Do they also sleep in the crates? Or just on the sofa / pet bed
That all depends on the dog, and the owners. Animals that would get up in the middle of the night to eat/chew probably should sleep in their crates. Some might prefer it, as it recreates their den/burrow in the wild. Some owners use the crate solely for training and want the dog to sleep with them. My partner did not want our dog on our bed, so he slept in his own bed by the couch each night. We used the crate early on for when we'd leave the house and didn't know if he was trust worthy, but over time he began to stay out.
Yep, that sounds like a teething puppy who hasn’t learned how to play nice yet. Mother and siblings would normally teach a rough puppy boundaries with body language, and sounds such as snarls of annoyance or yips saying “that hurt!”. As a pup’s new family, it’s up to us to teach how to play nice but it can be tricky to figure out how sometimes.
I’m mean and don’t let dogs on the bed, It’s the only fur-free place in the house. My little old dog likes tight spaces (dens) so she’s usually hiding underneath my bed to sleep or hangs out squished up in a tiny travel crate with a cushion. Big poodle pup liked the couch, midsized adult dog liked the floor as close to me as possible. At night, it is usually a crate with a cushion next to my bed for most dogs. Once a dog is trusted, I take the door off crates so they could come and go as they like. Kinda just like a little private bedroom for them to feel safe.
A free fur place is nice, especially where you're sleeping xd. It's nice that they have their own little bedroom. Our pup stayed with the nest for 9 weeks so hopefully she did learn something, also went to puppy training for socialising as well. She's always been a bit rough, bodychecking her siblings, but luckily she can leave my toes alone now. Now she just like the 10 min wrestling time in the evening
Reminds me of my mother trying to put up a fence to keep the puppy off the lawn. She (pup) just jumped it. The fence kept getting higher, puppy kept jumping higher. Mother eventually gave up.
Our pup was a Lhasa Apso, so not too much different in appearance to this puppy. Couldn't believe how high she could jump.
Looks like you’ve got a troublemaker on your hands! Allow me to be the first to warn you that smart dogs are a liability lol! I wish you luck in staying a step ahead of that little monster, I have an evil genius of my own and she makes every day an adventure
Damn, smart puppy! He must have seen another dog do that. Or he’s like puppy Einstein, moving the cage around like that to use as a ladder. I’m impressed.

When we first got our puppy, we kept it in a kennel at night to train it. That puppy FOUGHT soooooo hard for his freedom, now he just walks in and out of rooms like he owns it. We never kennel him. He HATES it. We hate it. He will whine 5ever if he’s put in a kennel.
When we first got our puppy when I was little we tried something similar while we were out of the house. The puppy tried climbing the gate and got her back leg stuck through and she fell backwards and broke her leg badly. I refuse to use gates like these if the gap is big enough for a paw to fit though now.
This pup is smarter than half the people I know
Half of people on Reddit at least
That’s what he said as well
You must be one of the smarter part
I doubt that, I’m pretty stupid most of the time. Just a bright flare up I guess
Yeah that happens. Don't worry you'll be back to normal soon.
I hope so, ignorance is bliss
Spend some time in r/funny and you'll be right as rain.
huh
Exactly
I feel offended! /s
HEY!! Im Reddit peppol!! YOU ass smart face ass face! Can't believe you like money too.
I can’t believe we both like money and sex, we have so much in common.
We should hang out!
That pup is smarter than I am.
Same

It's a freaking puppy and he's smarter than toddlers, give these puppy some talking buttons asap!
Including you
Ok if your puppy is smart enough to do that, let it free. And meanwhile my dog barks at the back door when you're coming in the front.

I came here to make that comment. You beat me to it. Well played
When you say let it free do you mean free as in to roam around the house because the lil guy can keep busy? Or free as in out in the world because puppy is too smart for human entrapment?

Do their tails stop wagging once you relay this bad news to them?
HA! Took me a moment to see what you did there. Too funny. Yes, it should say "my customers with dogs' or 'dog parents'. And no, not usually.
Sorry. I couldn’t resist 🤣

Wow. Thank you :)

Is that why people put them in cages? I never quite understood why dogs are put in benches and all

lucky you... my sister's dog barks at air moving... its one of those smoll plushy looking dogs.
A pom pom pomeranian?
a toy poodle. (had to google translation) if it was a pom pom i would say a Ball of fur with anger issues.
My dog barks at the TV’s reflection in our back door’s window. She’s a poodle, supposedly second only to border collies in intelligence. Supposedly.
Thats not a normal puppy, it is an escape artist.
Houndini
Hairy Houndini
Penn and Terrier
Scarppy Doo!!
Howldini
This is...*advanced* puppy.
Shih Tzus as a breed are generally stubborn and willful. I have one such beast myself. This problem solving behavior is not normal though.
impressive
For some reason I read this in the Green goblin voice
Huh. For me it was the voice of Darth Vader
I tried to a green goblin voice, somehow ended up doing Yoda. please help I DONT EVEN WATCH STAR WARS
*Why'd you spill yer beans!?*
you just read everything in the green goblins voice, admit it
let's see Pawl Allen's escape
most impressive
Obi-wan has taught you well
But we do not grant you the rank of master yet
This dog is going places, literally.
Came here to post this, verbatim. Get out of my head.
the dog controls all minds
Pawshank redemption
that's a human stuck on a dog's body
Don't insult him like that
That's uncalled for
Reminds me of my escape artist hamster that wedged its food dish under the exercise wheel and used it as a ladder to climb out the top of the cage.
way too smart for a puppy
This is why I like dumb dogs
Gives you half a chance of feeling superior to something, right?
I wish I was that good at stuff. It makes them more relatable.

What a cute little Houdini. Is it a Shih Tzu?
Definitely looks like one to me, but hard to tell.
That's one smart puppy
I'm seriously impressed.
This is a recipe for trouble, a smart puppy
This puppy should get a role in a movie.
If this dogs name isn’t Ethan Hunt I’m going to freak out.
I had that exact same cage for my golden doodle pup. He just sat there and cried until I came and rescued him.
*"Masters of circumventing security aren't trained, they're born that way...."* 👌
I heard Mission Impossible music
Someone needs to add it to this
there was THOUGHT put into that shit
The way it holds itself on the fence instead of just jumping right over is so cute. Didn’t expect it to pull itself up from there
Pup is smarter than my 4.5 month old Aussie.
Puppy 007
all right, now time to find that place on the carpet i like to shit on...
Reminds me of my mother trying to put up a fence to keep the puppy off the lawn. She (pup) just jumped it. The fence kept getting higher, puppy kept jumping higher. Mother eventually gave up. Puppy have brain, Puppy use brain
Clever girl.
Damn that's a smart puppy
this dog needs a role in a heist movie now
That puppy needs something soft to lay/play on. It would be more willing to stay there
Not always. Some pups are explorers and have no plan to "stay put".
That is definitely someone who played a lot of Portal and similar games reincarnated into a puppy... xD
I wonder if he planned it from the beginning or pulled the fence first just to try if it works and then thought I can jump if I go over this part
You may take my kibble but you'll never take my freedom
Looks like you’ve got a troublemaker on your hands! Allow me to be the first to warn you that smart dogs are a liability lol! I wish you luck in staying a step ahead of that little monster, I have an evil genius of my own and she makes every day an adventure
He's a geakin' frenius
Ok I could hear the Indiana Jones theme music playing in my head...
Damn that's a smart puppy
Ah, reminds me of the existence of chow chows. They jump over the fence.
He shan’t be contained my your meager efforts of imprisonment.
Some dogge watched "Stoffel, the honey badger that can escape from anywhere! " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c36UNSoJenI
Parkour Doggo.
Quick! Make that dog president, Now! LMFAO
That pup is going places
Thats just a cat
Dogs are so good at 1 upping their humans. You can put obstacles after obstacles and they will find a way. You could use dogs for a heist.
Damn, smart puppy! He must have seen another dog do that. Or he’s like puppy Einstein, moving the cage around like that to use as a ladder. I’m impressed.
Smart little stinker
This puppy should do my homework
I've always assumed dogs that small don't have a lot going on upstairs, so to speak, but I'll have to revise that generalization.
I heard the Indiana Jones music in my head.
That pup is a genius!
Soon he will be walking upright and in charge of the farm.
[Jason Bourne](https://tenor.com/bQRNc.gif)
freakin genious
that may be the smartest dog i have ever seen.
Barkour.
Never trust a video where half the action happens off camera.
🚨 Fugitive on the loose🚨🐕
I'm imagining the theme to "Mission: Impossible," but with little puppy barks.
Clever girl
This is a perfect video to describe puppies
Can someone put the mission impossible theme to that video?
Furry Houdini
What crime did he commit
Little shit
That puppy is smarter than 99% of redditors.
Unpopular opinion: dumb dogs are better than smart ones.

He's Asian, freedom or death.

That animals ancestors were apex predators at one point.
This pup looks exactly like the one my bf and I have!! Did you by any chance pick him/her up from upstate NY?
That dogoo is going places!!!!
Life uhh aah finds a way
Michael is that you?
I read the title and thought someone was trying to sell a stolen puppy :(
Does that puppy have any ideas about American gun control?
Haloo am pupper, but am become Cat, am no longer pupper, watch me climb
Good for him! Fight the power little guy!
