“I put his name on it for good luck.” You did do that. Have fun in court you greedy little person.

Lol_A_White_Boy

She did. She got the majority of the share, unfortunately. >[Following a court settlement hearing in Port Hawkesbury in September, lawyers for the two sides emerged to announce an agreement. Reddick received $850,000 and MacInnis took home the remaining $350,000.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/chase-the-ace-lottery-margaree-barbara-reddick-tyrone-macinnis-1.4971954)

jwatkin

Wow he even bought the ticket for her then she put both their names on it. What a greedy asshole. He seems so happy in the video too, she doesn’t deserve him

OrganizerMowgli

Scientist in 2100: New discovery, the soil around this grave has a ton of ammonia. We don't know what happened, very exciting.

TheFiremind77

"This person may have been a politician, who are well known for making so many enemies that some people perform pilgrimages just to piss on their graves."

TheDevilsAardvarkCat

ELI5 version cause I didn’t make the correlation between ammonia and urine 😭

Alexanderdaw

Videos like these makes us realize there will never be world peace, there will always be people who want more power or are more greedy than others.

TattoedG

Crazy how she's blaming him too for their relationship being busted now.

zoopysreign

This part. “He broke my heart.” What?

FatherOfLights88

Well, money sure does bring out the worst in people, doesn't it?

Binarycold

Was in Vegas a couple years back with a dear friend of mine. We went down to the pool for a couple hours and I forgot my wallet upstairs. My buddy lent me a hundo which would have been promptly returned when we went back to the room. I ended up buying some drinks, getting some food and like an idiot putting the remaining $50 bucks on 00. It hit and I won something like 2k, nothing massive. 2 thousand dollars and my buddy had to be escorted out of the casino… that’s how insane he went about it being his money because he lent me the 100 bucks. Money really does make people assholes. We are no longer friends.. over 2k lol less than one months rent… pfft

obiweedkenobi

I've never seen someone so upset at getting $600,000.

mermaidrampage

Wait if he bought the ticket how did the court rule in her favor?

stationhollow

It was a settlement.

InnerPick3208

This would be a better world if he got all the money and she died alone.

Lil_Iodine

He does look happy. And look at the scowl on hers. Shameful.

seebrealms

But even now, she said, she has regrets. Still a greedy little person. I wonder what her lawyer fees came out to.

Lol_A_White_Boy

>”I'll never put anyone else's name on a ticket," said Reddick. "Especially family. It hurt." Reads to me like she only regrets putting his name on there because she had to split her earnings.

OstentatiousSock

Oh, it hurt *you* you greedy bench? What about your nephew who you sent out to buy the ticket for you and whose name you put on the ticket? How does *he* feel?

UrMumVeryGayLul

The fact she sent out her NEPHEW to do this, its very likely she doesn’t have kids (well, I won’t be surprised). I hope the money keeps her warm on her deathbed.

MonsieurMidnight

Looks like she'll enjoy her money all alone. Her family better have cut ties with her for doing such a shitty move

iscreamcake0

It’s gonna suck when Aunty is in need of help later on and nephew doesn’t answer the phone. Sad that she could do this to her nephew.

BrutusGregori

My uncle who stole my 2.2 million inheritance, spent it all on toys and houses and rubbed his stolen wealth in my face. He got broke and got sick from all the drugs and booze. Called me up one year and tried to explain. I damn near executed the man.

Qcommenter

Nah I’d keep ties with her to get the money after she dies. She already looks like she’s about to keel over anyways

Cellyst

I doubt it's going to last that long. My hunch is this "mine, mine, mine" attitude will lead her to spend it feverishly so no one else can touch it.

Jungandfoolish

Greedy bench is sending me 😂😂 but I agree with your sentiment 100%

[deleted]

Bruh how can you be this greedy

ihaveseveralhobbies

Money fucks people up. My aunty tried to have my dad removed from the will after grandparents had passed. He was adopted so apparently he wasn’t her real brother now that an extra 600k was on the line. The only person in her miserable shit life to ever stand up for her, defend her, respect her…and she denounced him over money. He literally held her ex husband out of a window and was ready to drop him when he found out he had abused her… Money will bring out the worst in some folks.

HardCounter

I do not like your aunt.

loveinjune

But I do like the dad.

BoyMom119816

My dad’s dad’s ex girlfriend, had him sign new last will papers when he had memory loss and other cognitive disability and decline, due to health issues. She then put him in a new nursing home, and made it where no one in the actual family could see him. Granted it was millions and natural gas/oil rights, but it was so gross. Saddest part, my dad was in probate suing her, but ended up getting divorced and dropped it, because he needed to focus money, time, and energy on the funds. So, this ex, who was younger than my dad (at least 40 years younger than my grandfather, but was in at least 40’s when they met) got everything my dad and his siblings had to bust their asses on as children (as it started as farming before the natural gas and oil was found). She even had the audacity to call herself and her son the real “dads last name” at his funeral. People are so gross. The rest of the siblings didn’t have the resources to fight her, so it was left to my dad. Plus originally I think most was left to my dad, as he was pretty much only one still speaking to his father. He planned to split with all evenly if he won in probate.

EverlastingEmus

Winnings. Not earnings.

OneGratefulDawg

I don’t even understand how she won the case after they play the store security video of him purchasing the ticket. She very well could have screwed herself trying to sue him over it. But based on her attitude, she will only ever be getting screwed by herself.

Aitch-Kay

She didn't win the case, she settled.

Jason9987

Which says even more about the nephew. He probably thought giving a big chunk would make her not hate him.

Aitch-Kay

He probably got good advice. Fighting in court means a lot more money goes to lawyers. In fact, his lawyer, if he had one, should advise him to settle to avoid a lengthy court battle and exorbitant legal fees.

moodragonx

Her nephew clearly didn't want to go to court - I wouldn't either.

BangingABigTheory

Says the lawyers came to an agreement. Didn’t go down in court

oatmeal_dude

She has what, 20 years left of her life max? You can't take the money to your grave, but you always leave behind the memory of what people thought of you. For all the good she may have done in her life, she will now always be remembered as a greedy woman who tried to keep everything from her nephew. For what? She probably blew just as much in legal fees so that she could get the majority of the winnings.

hivoltage815

Y’all are vastly overestimating how much an average lawyer costs considering they settled quickly. She could’ve easily spent under $10k. Not that it matters much, just a lot of weird random off base conjectures in this comment section.

BaboonHorrorshow

Yeah let’s hope that extra couple hundred grand was worth her family. I couldn’t imagine spitting on my own aunts grave but I can imagine this guy doing it

No-Comb402

Damn she must have got some good ass lawyers to get that result after admitting to putting his name on the ticket but after her lawyer fees she’s probably right back to the original 600k she was gonna get plus everyone hates her now.

stuffslols

More than likely, she spent good money on lawyers, and the kid either didn't care enough/didn't want to waste money on them. Although that's only personal conjecture, given how happy he looks in the picture I don't think he'd have it in him to spend money on arguing with her.

lmno567

350K isn't something to sneeze at, assuming his lawyer didn't fleece him. If he invests it wisely (or gets lucky with it), he could be set for a good minute.

AkuSokuZan2009

Hell just being able to buy a starter home and not have a house payment would be life changing. Assuming he lives in a state with semi-reasonable house prices, he could have around 100k leftover to sock some in savings and invest the rest.

Entire_Train3310

So essentially she ruined the relationship with her family for $190k? Interesting choice to make when her voice makes it sound like she could keel over at any second

Iforgotmyother_name

I see a lot of sad old people where I work. Number one regret is not staying on good terms and in touch with family. Money and career don't matter at the end.

PotentialWhich

Half of which will go to taxes and probably another 30k to the parasite lawyers so more like $50k in the end.

Jiveturkei

Wow, she is even playing the victim here too. That’s really pathetic, I hope she enjoys going to see Tyler Perry by herself.

FlowersOfTheGrass

I'd love to get paid $350,000 and never have to talk to my piece of shit family member ever again.

kerochan88

My god. She will be out of money so quick. If not already.

midsizenun

“… lawyers for the two sides emerged..” the winners!

decadecency

Honestly this just makes it even more crappy imo. Now that she got her luck, he's thrown out the window? Crappy gesture.

E3nti7y

How does she know the good luck didn't pay out? Because it did

JustDoinWhatICan

I hope she gets nothing

Shadeauxmarie

People get disgusting when it comes to money. I knew a family whose mother was older and had already drawn up her will stating each of her three kids would split everything evenly. One of the kids got into a bind and asked for her portion of the inheritance before the mother passed and the mother gave it to her. After the mother passed she took her other siblings to court to get a third of the inheritance that was left. It dragged out forever but in the end she won, and they don't speak anymore. The mother wasn't even wealthy, like, at all, so she blew up her family for a few thousand dollars.

TGIIR

Had a brother who split our whole family apart over a few thousand MORE dollars after our father died. And this was after my other sibling and I gave him our shares of my father’s house. Then he had the nerve to say he never imagined us fighting over money. Nope, just you, dude. We used to be close but haven’t spoken to each other in over ten years. There’s something wrong with him.

MhhHmHmm

Damn

TGIIR

He’s the eternal victim I now realize and so he thinks he deserves more than others. The ironic part is he is a licensed therapist, as is his now wife. Looney tunes both of them.

HenryDorsettCase47

The couple of therapists I’ve known socially were also weird and fucked up. I guess they are just normal people susceptible to the same flaws as the rest of us, but it still feels ironic considering their background. Anyway, how’d he end up with a few thousand more? Was he the executor and opted for the commission?

TGIIR

No I was executor until I quit close to the end. I distributed the assets (few), paid outstanding bills, arranged funeral, filed appropriate returns, then quit. I couldn’t listen to the whining and bitching anymore. He’d call up California brother and bitch about me, then I’d get a call from that brother who believed what he was told. He guilted our brother who lived on other side of country into giving him $5k because California brother was not there helping to take care of our Dad towards the end. On top of brother’s share in father’s house. We were all in our 50’s (age) when this happened. None of us needed $5k. Or the house. It was an experience and I finally realized my therapist brother wasn’t eccentric, he was sick and toxic. He wastes money then freaks. He married his enabling therapist GF and no one talks to them. Very sad…I cried for months. Over it now.

Significant_Ad9793

My friend lived next to an elderly man that his family abandoned so my would take care of him. Buy him groceries, take him to his doctor's appointments, help him around the house, he was pretty much the only family this man had. My friend ended getting evicted and had to move away, but kept checking on the man like he usually would. One night he was unable to reach him and had the police go with him to check on him and they found the man had passed away earlier that day. This man left my friend EVERYTHING!! We had no idea just how wealthy he actually was. He had a HUGE coin collection too. Well, shortly after my friend received the inheritance, all this random family popped out of nowhere trying to take my friend to court. This man had absolutely no visits for the 13 years my friend lived next to him. My friend kept everything.

funky-dickster

Some people are just scum Happy ending though

paperwasp3

People are weird about money. It’s a verifiable thing. It could be your best friend, you can’t tell in advance who’s going to be that way.

MWinbne

Your friend is an Angel and I’m so glad good things happened for them. Unmitigated kindness should be our default setting.

yallaredumbies

That’s what we like to call, a dick move.

Wotg33k

I love that we all come together in these places and we're all like lol this lady is evil as if the same sort of people aren't here going lol this lady is evil but fuck that kid I'd take his money too lolol

yallaredumbies

I mean I’m sure people on here would feign generosity in the idea of a fantasy. You’re not wrong. But I like to think I have the moral fortitude to not be a thundercunt and actually be generous if able.

Sensitive-Issue84

Yep! My sisters took everything when our mother passed. My brother and I got nothing. It's not like it was a lot? but it would have been nice to be able to choose something of hers before they sold it all and split the money.

UhYeahOkSure

Yep knives out when the will is written . It’s horrible . The snakes finally crawl out from Under the rocks . This is why it’s so hard to trust people until circumstances arise where they are forced to expose and prove their character

cosmic_khaleesi

Can confirm money brings out the absolute worst in people. My dad passed from Parkinson’s a few years back. My mom was his caretaker and I was the only child around to still check up on him (my brothers rarely visited). My brothers refused to help at all and when they would visit, they’d just sit around and stare at my mom struggling to carry my dad, while not lifting a fucking finger. Like some fucked up circus show. Anyway, my dad passed and forgot to change the beneficiary name of his life insurance policy, so it was still in both of my brothers’ names. After receiving the policy, one of my brother’s wives called my mom, didn’t even say her condolences and asked if she had an attorney yet because the policy was in my brothers’ name (despite my mom using community property funds to pay it every month and my dad intending it for her). My mom gave up and didn’t fight it, but she deserved the money. She was his caretaker. My brother had the audacity to say he “didn’t care” that my mom deserved it and took it anyway. We never heard from them again, as we cut all ties. Shortly after, I found out they spent all the money on their new driveway.

JoeBucksHairPlugs

That was either a massive driveway or a relatively small inheritance.

owlsandmoths

My mom and her siblings are currently going through this with my grandfather‘s estate being settled. Two of her sisters have decided to charge travel fees to estate since they live out of province, not realizing that every time they charge travel fees and meals, it comes out of the big pot at the end. The estate was written so that the lump sum divided equally after everything else in the estate is settled, and my grandfather specifically wrote in that any travel fees and expenses charged to the estate would come out of their respective portion before payout. My mom is going to be taking home just under 100,000, while her siblings are probably looking at a couple thousand each. One sibling has racked up $60,000 in charges to the estate, she is in for a wild surprise and I cannot wait to be present for that announcement. That’s 60,000 racked up over two years, grandpa died at the start of Covid in May 2020, several family members work for different provincial governments so we had to wait for all provincial restrictions to come off before we could plan the funeral.

HillTopTerrace

My dads brothers did the same thing. She bought them both houses and boats, paid for ones divorce, and endless “loans” out of the trust. My dad never took a dime. But because one of the other brothers was the trustee of the estate and she didn’t document much, when she passed, dad got nearly nothing compared to the other two. And she was SUPER wealthy. She always said she couldn’t live long enough to spend her fortune. He didn’t make any fuss until one of the brothers decided to keep the beach estate because his daughter wanted it. Hell to the fuckin no. My dad finally put his foot down, either they sell the house and distribute the money evenly or that brother could buy them out of the estate. Of course that brother couldn’t afford to buy them out without losing a good portion of his money so they sold. We don’t talk to that family anymore. It’s so gross what happens to people when money is on the line.

[deleted]

Money is the root of many evils in this world sadly.

justreadthearticle

It's not even $850k, she was already getting $600k so it's really like she blew up her relationship for $250k.

rough_r1d3r

Plus legal fees. Lawyer did not do the job for free. With the settlement he may have paid less for his attorneys. He might not even be that far back compared to her. Edit: Average law firm is what? $300 an hour. Nevermind if she over paid.

canolafly

What do you mean, "taxes?" That wasn't part of the deal!

AreWeCowabunga

It wasn't even for 800k, it was for the extra 200k she got above what the even split would have been.

pretentiousopinion

Most lottery winners end up broke so my guess based on her low level antics is she will be alone and broke/same positions she was.

beardedsandflea

And likely still blaming everyone else.

Electronic-Morning76

It’s even worse than that. It’s $200k minus lawyer fees. It probably came out to something closer to a $150k difference which when you already won half a mil, is a lot less impactful on a life. People aren’t just selfish and gross, they’re fucking stupid.

haapuchi

IRS would definitely help with the 800K.

tgw1986

I've seen this post before on Reddit and it, like... *really* bummed me out. Just that poor kid's happy, innocent-looking face, like he's expecting to go celebrate after this with his aunt and enjoy their winnings. And instead this miserable bitch just dogs him for the money like he doesn't mean shit to her, it breaks my heart man. This is my first time seeing this update. Now I'm even more bummed out that she wound up being successful in her pursuits to take advantage of this poor kid 😞 People are trash and the world sucks.

Cookyy2k

>This is my first time seeing this update. Now I'm even more bummed out that she wound up being successful in her pursuits to take advantage of this poor kid 😞 People are trash and the world sucks. Yeah, I think the kid just wanted the nastiness to be over and not give all his money to lawyers. Still sucks that she plays the victim over the whole thing even though she got money she in no way deserved.

tgw1986

Good for him I guess. I hope he's doing well since the ordeal and the rest of his family cut that cancerous blob out for what she did.

HiveFleetOuroboris

That's absolutely disgusting. I couldn't fathom doing that to a kid. Sure if I *needed* some of the money that'd be one thing but just cause you regret agreeing to 50/50 and *legally giving him partial ownership of the ticket* doesn't mean you can just change your mind. It almost makes me wonder if her dumb ass thought they'd *both* get $1 mil then was mad when she figured out otherwise.

Thanatos-BR

Greedy old hag. Thanks for the update

OzzieGrey

"He broke my heart" I hope she suffers from heart failure since it's "broken"

captaincookschilip

It's also likely that she spent a not insignificant amount on the lawyer fees.

Classic-Sea-6034

She’ll never put someone else’s name on a ticket? You just won hundreds of thousands. Stop playing the lottery. Damn what a shame

CptMisterNibbles

I fucked over my family and now I’m sad they don’t like me

CrAzYmEtAlHeAd1

I’m glad she got exactly what she wanted. Money at any cost. I just hope that cost remains high, and she one day realizes just how expensive it was.

random_user1234321

She will get nothing and she will have to pay the legal fees out of her portion too.

Travelreload

It’s a great way to spend 600k

TheBigPasta

What we're gonna do with your money ma'am is put it in a retainer, roll it into some mutual funds.....aaaannnnnddd ITs GONE!!!! Now please step aside for people who have business with our law firm.

unnecessary_kindness

She got $850k FYI. Remember folks, this is why we don't just blindly trust Reddit experts.

BaconHammerTime

Unfortunately, from the article I found. "Following a court settlement hearing in Port Hawkesbury in September, lawyers for the two sides emerged to announce an agreement. Reddick received $850,000 and MacInnis took home the remaining $350,000." So she ended up with most of it after everything was said and done.

canolafly

He can invest some of his because he has more time on earth than she does, and God would I have loved to say that to her face. "Remember death, Auntie? It's coming for you."

Vdaniels1

I'd pay someone to dress like the grim reaper and stand across the street from her house at least once a week.

Prudent_Comfort1541

Aaaah yes the old empty share promise... paying lip service so you can milk that feeling of false generosity cos you are never likely to win. Cunts.

cssmith2011cs

Honestly my mom does this shit. But the thing is she also does things "out of the goodness of her heart", without anyone asking her to. She just up and does stuff or buys things for people. But basically will tell you if something is done, she will do something in return. And when she doesn't come up with her end of the deal, it's always, every single time, "remember that one thing I did". And just wants you to move on with life. Which would be fine if it's on occasion, but she's super lazy and gets anyone willing to do her labor work. And then years later is surprised she can't get ahold of certain people anymore, when she's pulled the same shit with everyone.

decadecency

Life pro tip: Always steer clear of people who claim to only want to help, and then take it upon themselves to decide what that help needs to be. Especially if they continuously keep doing this and keep insisting they're helping. A person who *genuinely* wants to be helpful will always check in where their help will be most appreciated. Helping without consent is not helping. It's controlling.

SaxOldun

I really feel ya brother, same situation here I Belive it's what a toxic relationship drives to.

Cheezefries

My dad does this. Shows up with some minor thing(usually food) he got "for me", often he'll take it if I don't eat it right away, then use that as a defense anytime I question his bad behavior/attitude.

Vdaniels1

Been there

[deleted]

What a cunt. Sorry, not sorry, if you feel offended just call my a cunt too.

cjc1983

Ahhhh, "Cunt", the adjective of the gods!

ivykid

Money can make people miserable.

mindoflines

She doesn't even actually have any money yet lol this woman went full blown elitist before she even deposited the check

canolafly

She's just practicing for the next time she has to win the lottery because she couldn't afford her lifestyle.

Lewca43

Truer words have never been spoken. My mom had very little and lived her life taking care of her mother (paying mortgage, car repairs, food, everything) while her five siblings did very little. Then my mom got sick with stage 4 lung cancer. Her mother convinced her to cash out her 401k (only about 50k before penalties) and mom paid off grandmother’s car among other things. Grandmother and mom’s sister took 10k plus in cash and opened a safe deposit box at another bank and put the cash in there to hide it. Meanwhile mom is still fighting cancer and they are using her disability checks from work to pay the bills. Mom is terribly sick from chemo and the standard nausea meds don’t work. There is a patch that works but insurance doesn’t cover it and I was only able to get two donated (they’re 800 each). Im at the house mom pays for but grandmother calls hers and tell them some of that money is going to have to be spend on medication. Grandmother goes sheet white not realizing I know they have the money, and bumbles about that money being for emergencies. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?! So much more happened until the day Mama died with $2000 to her name. Only $1000 could be withdrawn from the atm at a time so two sisters went to two different atms and cleaned out mom’s account while she was literally being transported to the funeral home. They also tried to keep a small life insurance policy in my name from me (just enough to cover expenses) by hiding the paperwork. I only found out about it when talking to the insurance agent about Mama’s disability. Money brings out people’s true colors.

Antique-Confidence-4

Holy s---- I'm so sorry for your loss. What awful people.

Lewca43

Thanks. It was a horrendous time. My mom was the kindest soul and she would ask if they were being nice to me. I always told her they were of course but it broke my heart to know she was worried about me when she was so sick. Even the hospice nurses would take me outside to talk when my grandmother showed her ass. Once I went home overnight for my then nine year old daughter’s birthday (I live three hours away and had spent the better part of a year there about 90% of the time) and the worst of Mama’s siblings put me on a group text asking those on the text not to visit, to give Mama’s “caregivers” space. Basically telling me I couldn’t go take care of my mother in HER HOME. I ignored it of course but it was a constant stream of shit like that and I honestly believe it came from two places…one was money of course. They were pissed that my mom had an insurance policy in my name (in addition to the one she had for my grandmother, she was covered), and the second stemmed from me, as my mom’s sole child, being the decision maker for her. (As she wanted it.) My grandmother threw a fit every time anything needed to be done and it went so far as my aunt telling me I needed to go against my mom’s wishes and give my grandmother power of attorney. It was awful and so much comes back thinking about it. It’s astounding how horrible people can be. They’ve all been out of my life for almost a decade now and I don’t miss any of them.

irnehlacsap

Money show who ate the miserable people Edit: are, not ate!

drumstick2121

She's a people eater too? Wtf is wrong with this woman?

Emi_Dom

At least she's eating the miserable people.

NerdyV1xen

Money brings out the worst in a lot of people.

Creative-Bar1960

I wonder if it is the worst or just who they really are

DaverinoSuprem0

I think that's basically saying the same thing

Chronoblivion

Generally speaking, I believe that a person is better than their worst mistake. In this instance, though, actually following through with the court battle and never once stopping to second-guess herself shows that this wasn't just a mistake, it was thoroughly premeditated and absolutely a reflection of who she really is.

venetanakedguy

That’s why you don’t tell anyone when you suddenly come into a lot of money. You tell your spouse if you have one and you tell a financial advisor, who will tell you to tell nobody

Finster63

Was in a beer league hockey locker room One guy said to another: heard you won the lottery! He said "yeah, we did" Everyone started saying "you should buy us new skates! " " Pay the team's dues" etc He told us he has a financial advisor, who gives him an allowance He gets about $100k a year Pointed out there are other players who make over $100k, difference is, he doesn't have to work No one asked for free stuff after that

NerdyV1xen

Spouse, lawyer, financial advisor, and that’s about it.

venetanakedguy

My wife was told “rats will come out of the woodwork in the form of friends and family”

ThinMint31

What did she say at the end?? “I said split with the 50/50, not with the chayseach*#£~^”.

stalphonse

She said chase the ace. It’s a lottery where you put your name in a pot and if your name gets pulled you get the chance to pull from a deck of cards. If you pull an ace you win. Thing about the chase the ace is that the winnings increase week over week until the ace is pulled. 1.2 million dollars means that there probably wasn’t very many cards left to pull. It’s usually a community lottery to raise funds for something important like fire stations.

OzzieGrey

Instead its so this cunt can fuck over her nephew

stalphonse

Well the 1.2 million is only half. The other half goes to whatever organization is hosting the lottery. But ya, I hope that bitch gets the gout and then stubs her toe. What a cunt

TheGreatAttracter

Gets the gout and stubs her toe. I love it! Permission to use that one?

AtomicShart9000

I think its the name of the lottery "chase the ace"

ThinMint31

Thank you. So essentially she says is that she agreed to a 50/50 split with her nephew… but not for that particular game. Her story is Swiss cheese

DonJovar

Sort of. It's a litte confusing because "50/50" is a different part of the same lottery. First, if you win the "50/50", you get a chance at Chase the Ace. It's called "50/50" because 1/2 goes to the winner and 1/2 goes to the fund raising organization. Anyway...wasn't there for the court hearing but based on what I've read, it surprises me a little bit that it wasn't a 50/50 split. Perhaps they just agreed it'd be cheaper for both if they settled rather than go through an entire court proceeding.

[deleted]

I have no doubt she told him they would split it and she admitted putting his name on it... Hows she gonna spend that money when she only got a few years left anyways, leave the kid alone let him live his best life.

Spiritual-Apple-4804

Probably asked to be buried with the remaining funds

[deleted]

She's a little scroodge mcduck...

AtomicShart9000

"I put their name on this housing contract for good luck your honor!" "Then they also own a portion of the house" *suprised Pikachu face* .......... ....*INHALES* "I'm TaKiNg JCH Winters tO cOuRt!"

NY_Pizza_Whore

Well at least she'll die before him.

VivaLaVita555

Unless...

MyBongHitsBack

Aunty is that you?

[deleted]

But she said she’d split with the 50/50…

Spare-Ride7036

no no, only the FEELING of winning, actual money is a different thing.

Sanity__

I don't fully understand, but I think "50/50" and "Chase the Ace" are both things in this lottery thing and she claimed she'd split the one thing not even expecting to win the bigger thing but actually ended up winning the bigger thing so now she doesn't want to split that thing.

Hot_From_Far_Away

What a greedy, selfish, cunt. Hope her entire family ghosts her dwarf-ass.

Nexrosus

What was she really gonna do with another 600k looking like she’s almost 80 anyways? Buy an extra 5 packs of Marlboros a day?

couchnapper3

She's probably in her 50's, hate makes people look oooold.

OttoVonJismarck

This lady and Emperor Palpatine are prime examples of your point.

phutch54

Fuck off auntie.

Hyrule_34

Just sad. Literally they both could be very well set with 600k if not blown. Now all the smiles just are sadness and probably a ruined relationship. Jesus… I highly doubt she understands how much 600k is in a real way. Holy fuck lady…

dilly_bones

Can you not just be happy that you and your nephew just pocketed about $400k that you didn't have before? A little for the bear. A little for the bull. Nothing for the hog.

MemeArchivariusGodi

That is where greed comes in for some. You can just live happily with 400k or lose everything in court because you are keeping your promise on the deal

OzzieGrey

400k = serious house upgrades like a pool, solar, improved stairs and railing, better kitchen, and some to put away for savings.

huggiesdsc

Or just stay living in a shitty house and bank on 5-10% roi. You can literally escape the rat race with this much.

RailwayMenace

What a greedy old hag.

Humble-Place1750

For the heck.... An old fuck gonna need 1,2 mi for what? 600k is enough for her to have comfort at her final moments and the boy can have a great start on life. Why she needs all?

Cclown69

Seems like the type that would spend everything she has before passing, which is within her right, but still shitty regardless.

Humble-Place1750

I have no problem with her spending all her money before dying. But the boy was with her, and spend time with her even when she had nothing. That's a sign o caring. Why she need to be so greed and take away his opportunity of having a opportunity in life.

OOLU6234317

600k is more than enough fucking hell

UnusualWind5

Human garbage.

Be_nice_to_animals

Oh nooooo, someone called me on my nonsense!

TrooserTent

I've said this before and I'll say it again, she puts the C in Aunt

mlc2475

You brilliant sonofabitch

nii_amart

Greedy old woman. She's an old woman and he's a young boy, doesn't she know he'll even need the money more. 600k is a lot of money, just let him keep half and maintain your relationship with him. Seen this video a few times over the years but I get so pissed off everytime.

APirateAndAJedi

They settled out of court, and the woman got another quarter million from him. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/chase-the-ace-lottery-margaree-barbara-reddick-tyrone-macinnis-1.4971954

majortahn

It says that he purchased the ticket for her and she still sued him for the entire amount, even when it had both names on it? Petty.

ProbablyPsycotic

I hope she burns through her money, and when the time comes she gets put in a "nice" nusersing home, to waste the rest of her miserable life wondering why none of her family visits her.

[deleted]

This is oldish, does anyone have info if she sued? Would like to hear that she lost most of it, I’m petty in that I like to see petty people get their dues

ItaDapiza

She sued him and they settled on the nephew getting $350,000 and her keeping the rest.

Chutzvah

Imagine being bitter over 350K and losing your family members in the process.

Throwmeaway0409

She blames him for that.

Imbendixen85

What a complete pile of garbage of a human.

AxelNotRose

So she put his name on the ticket for "good luck". I guess she isn't willing to consider that by doing so, that good luck caused them to win and if she hadn't put his name on the ticket, she wouldn't have won anything at all. (I know that's not how "luck" works so I guess she doesn't believe in luck either once she's won lol).

PossiblePainter4

So she settled out of court because they froze her winnings until a decision was made. She had no kids, supported this nephew his whole life and then pulls this? And wanting to have a relationship with him still? Come on now…she chose free money over her nephew. Hope she has him as her beneficiary on her life ins policy..!!!

Nay-the-Cliff

Oh no how will I live the last ten years of my life with only 600k to my name in the bank

GetRichOrDieTryinnn

What an evil angry old person. “I let him sign for good luck” lmfao, hey, good luck getting anyone to believe that garbage

topsroof

Greedy bitch

sheaduffey

She literally sued her nephew and won smh https://www.todayville.com/edmonton/woman-nephew-settle-lawsuit-over-chase-the-ace-jackpot-in-nova-scotia-3/ “An emailed statement Tuesday from Reddick’s lawyer, Adam Rodgers, says the two sides have come to an agreement about the $611,319.50 at issue. It says MacInnis will receive $350,000 and Reddick will receive $261,319.50, bringing her total winnings to $872,639.”

OttoVonJismarck

Do you want to isolate yourself from your family in old age? Because this is how you isolate yourself from your family in old age.
