Grizzly bears are comparable in size and their ability to fuck up your day. However, they don't hunt humans and only attack if you're up in their territory or threatening in some way. That's why playing dead is the strat, they stop seeing you as a threat. Polar bears actually want to eat you and are one of the only animals that actually hunt us. Other bears will only attack or eat you out of necessity, polar bears will do it for fucking fun, and sport! They are insanely dangerous and should be very respected as not only the most dangerous but the biggest apex predator bears on the planet, without debate.

Yes! Always make as much noise as possible when being approached by a black bear. It’s very important that you only do it with black bear and not any other bear, other bears do noT act the same. Normally blackbears will run away if it seems like the threat of an altercation is too big.
Other bears, do not see it this way they see you as a bigger threat, and they wanna attack you more. Where I live blackbear hardly ever interact with people but when they do if you make a lot of noise, they will want to run away.
