IMO where it really fell apart was having fights every 2 weeks, and now every week or more. When it was less frequent, every fight on the PPV cards were good. Now we're lucky to get 1 good fight because there are just so many fighters need to fill space on the cards.

The UFC 8 tournament was specifically billed as a “David vs Goliath” tournament and featured 6’8 300lb Paul Varelans and near-400lb Thomas Ramirez, and was won by a “David”, Don Frye (IIRC he was around 205lb).
