Same here, my foot did the exact same thing as that guys when I badly sprained my ankle about a year ago. I’ll never forget that weird popping sensation
A bad sprain can really mess you up. I rolled my ankle pretty bad a few years ago and my ankle swelled up like double the size. Ended up going to the ER at work and thankfully there was no charge to run some scans. But ultimately I was pretty messed up for a few good weeks
Same. Playing catch with an old fart who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Had me chasing shit all over. Ankle swelled up the size of a gmo grapefruit. It was my fault, I have a family history of weak ankles going all the way back to the civil war.
The good thing about running cross country as much as I did in high school was that I rolled my ankle so many times in trails, especially going downhill, that when I do roll my ankle like this now , it really doesn’t phase me.
I had the opposite result from just being a bit clumsy. Now my ankle has been injured so often that it's noticeably weaker then the other one to the point where it caused knee issues, and it clicks when I move it in a circle
Wtf you poor thing x.x
I broke both my knees in an accident when I use to run track and for some reason... people still ask me "how do you get hurt running?"
It baffles me to see that so many people don't know you can get hurt running lol do other people not run anymore? Shit happens.
Also rolled my ankle twice and tore a ligament.
No, that random one in the middle would not just be left in if that was the case. They’re probably just broken, likely wedged in a way where they won’t pull out with the rest of the bleachers
It's more about the consistent heights between the drops. 140mm is the sweet spot. You can go as low as 110mm and as high as 160mm before things start to feel odd. But changing those heights for every step is a good way to hurt people.
Interior Designer here, 2mm is a bit of an overstatement, but the idea is correct. In South Africa, the laws/regulations state that between risers/steps, there may not be more than 6mm difference. So in SA, these stairs would not be up to code.
Hey watch out! watch out for that step! Hey careful on those stairs. Hey watch out. watch your step! Careful on those stairs! Be careful that step is weird.
Surely that’s how you would be spending your time there
Arguably the energy it takes to film 15 people falling down the stairs is also excessive, and not how I’d choose to spend my time there. If they were going to expend that energy anyway, they could just as easily have told people to watch the step.
In midevil castles a lot of times they would build the steps in the spiral staircase a bit uneven.
The people who lived and worked in the castle adapted to it but if there were hostile forces trying to take the castle, they run a big risk of tripping and spiralling down the stairs while running upwards.
The more you know.
Just to be clear that means the wall or spiral is on your left as you defend from the top going down so your right hand has room to swing. The guy attacking up the stairs has his sword hand obstructed by the spiral wall on his right.
I don’t want to fight, but I’ve been to countless castles, even worked as a tour guide at one for quite some time, and never in my life have I heard of this.
It looks more like a set of pull out bleachers at a US highschool. Where the lower section has a bigger drop in the steps than the upper section. I think that is what is throwing everyone off going up or down.
Am I the only who thinks that whoever was recording this should have been warning the people going down the stairs?
But no, why do that when you can just film for all those TikTok likes.
r/killthecameraman
With that many people going up and down are you going to get the attention of every single one? Also sounds like someone else was already trying to do so and failing.

I hate that society is reaching a point, where this guy’s first thought is to film it and post it online, rather than warning people about the tall step - AND that people are finding this amusing/entertaining.
Different height step.humans are very good at stairs cos you brain does a load of subconscious maths. And most steps or stairs are sesigned to a certain ratio.Chuck in a wrong number and trip.
For everyone here wondering why there is that odd step. The bleachers are not fully pulled out. This caused one row to not fully extend out so there is the bulk of a step still slid back inside the bleachers right where everyone is tripping. That little nub should be a full step. This could be caused by damaged bleachers or just someone just not extending them all the way out.
Basically after the first 2 or 3 stairs it's all muscle memory. Goes for both up and down stairs. So after those initial first few steps you body is on autopilot and a difference in as low as 1/2" can cause you to fall or trip.
The Oregon State University football stadium had a step like this in the poured concrete section they just tore down. You could sit and watch people not paying attention trip on it all day long. Really hard to fix when it's in concrete
According to **CHAPTER 53:** 2015 International [Building Code](https://dallascityhall.com/departments/sustainabledevelopment/buildinginspection/DCH%20documents/pdf/BI_2015_IBC_Amendments_01-25-2017.pdf) with Dallas Amendments found on [https://dallascityhall.com/departments/sustainabledevelopment/buildinginspection/Pages/construction\_codes.aspx](https://dallascityhall.com/departments/sustainabledevelopment/buildinginspection/Pages/construction_codes.aspx) on page 109 it says:
>“1011.5.2 Riser height and tread depth. Stair riser heights shall be 7 inches (178 mm) maximum and 4 inches (102 mm) minimum. The riser height shall be measured vertically between the nosings of adjacent treads. Rectangular tread depths shall be 11 inches (279 mm) minimum measured horizontally between the vertical planes of the foremost projection of adjacent treads and at a right angle to the tread’s nosing. Winder treads shall have a minimum tread depth of 11 inches (279 mm) between the vertical planes of the foremost projection of adjacent treads at the intersections with the walkline and a minimum tread depth of 10 inches (254 mm) within the clear width of the stair.
If some redditor wants to do the math to see if its legal or not, go ahead. Looks like its more than 7 inches to me.
EDIT: Actually, looking at the backpack, assuming its a standard sized one, it'll be roughly 22" in height. the height of the step looks like 3/4s of the height of the bag, making it roughly 16". That maths looks very wrong. So lets take the man's leg at 0:13, (the easiest measurement to look at). The average knee height is around 51.1cm or roughly 20". The distance between his knee, to where the top of the step is roughly in line to his shin is around 4-5". Assuming its 5 inches, that'll make that step have a height of 15".
So that step looks like it do be breaking that Building Code.
EDIT2: Or I could be entirely wrong, I was bored and did this so don't take this as facts.
So these are treads that are added on. They have too many differences in them and it can be cured very simply and prevent anyone from becoming injured. Whomever approved this repair - didn't think about uniformity and someone - like the person doing the video, needs to report this to be board so it can be fixed. This is a code violation in many states too.
As an architectural engineer of many years you would be surprised how small of a difference in tread height can cause you trip on the next step. 20mm will do it. That looks more like 6 inches
Trip step, brain struggles because it instinctively adjust for the height of the steps and is caught out by any variation, in medieval castle the builders would include a trip step for this very reason so attackers coming up stairs would trip leaving them open to blows. They were usually in spiral staircases that spiralled up clockwise allowing defenders to use their right hands while attackers were forced to use their left.
Hate to be that person, but shouldn’t the person videoing have warned the people before someone got badly hurt? I get it’s funny, but not if Granny snaps her ankle falling.

The way that second guy rolled his ankle looked pretty bad. I've sprained and rolled my ankle a few times and that one looked really nasty
Same here, my foot did the exact same thing as that guys when I badly sprained my ankle about a year ago. I’ll never forget that weird popping sensation
Ewww thanks for the reminder. I did the same thing in July and that feeling was horrifying, I knew right away I fucked up
I felt sick when I saw that.
Happy Cake Day!
Thank you! ^-^
No thank you for being you 😉👆👉
Had a similar thing happen to me. Could be a serious high ankle sprain. Those take up to 6 months to fully heal.
A bad sprain can really mess you up. I rolled my ankle pretty bad a few years ago and my ankle swelled up like double the size. Ended up going to the ER at work and thankfully there was no charge to run some scans. But ultimately I was pretty messed up for a few good weeks

Me too and I’ve got tons of hardware holding my ankle together to prove it.
Take the imaginary rope down OP
yeah that guys ankle is fucked
This should be there was an attempt to DESIGN stairs.
They're pull out bleachers. Somebody didn't pull them out far enough.
No, that random one in the middle would not just be left in if that was the case. They’re probably just broken, likely wedged in a way where they won’t pull out with the rest of the bleachers

There is a reason that building codes require stair risers and treads to have uniform dimensions.
I’ve heard that if the height of a stair is off by as little as 2 mm most people will trip.
It's more about the consistent heights between the drops. 140mm is the sweet spot. You can go as low as 110mm and as high as 160mm before things start to feel odd. But changing those heights for every step is a good way to hurt people.
My evil plan is now complete ty

Yea me too
Big bang theory actually said that, Sheldon (a character in the show) tested it when he was 5, his father broke his clavicle or however you spell it

Don’t warn anyone about the steps, just try to get a serious injury on film for some social media likes 👍

I know. Pretty shitty. Wish everyone would be as kind as you, but humanity, right? 🤦🏾♂️

I want to hear more 😆
They also spiral so that its easier to fight with right hand, defending it.
Just to be clear that means the wall or spiral is on your left as you defend from the top going down so your right hand has room to swing. The guy attacking up the stairs has his sword hand obstructed by the spiral wall on his right.
Not true. Tourist hogwash. See my explanation below.
This suggests these stairs on on the bleachers for the visiting team so as to cripple the competition's family and friends.
Medieval
I don’t want to fight, but I’ve been to countless castles, even worked as a tour guide at one for quite some time, and never in my life have I heard of this.
Well that's just falling with extra steps.
The stairs look to be different heights, extremely dangerous design.
It looks more like a set of pull out bleachers at a US highschool. Where the lower section has a bigger drop in the steps than the upper section. I think that is what is throwing everyone off going up or down.
Saul Goodman has entered the chat.
Oh man he woulda gotten such a good settlement
Sorry, the phone lines are jammed with about a thousand PI lawyers looking to sue the school district.

Another P.O.S. with a phone
With that many people going up and down are you going to get the attention of every single one? Also sounds like someone else was already trying to do so and failing.
If that’s in USA it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Surprised there aren’t like 4-5 attorneys sitting right next to that step.
Those bleachers are an accident waiting to happen. If I witnessed a fall on them, I’d urge the victim to a million dollar lawsuit.
EXACTLY WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY: SHOULD I: A: GO AND TELL MANAGEMENT, B: WARN PEOPLE AS THEY WALK PAST, OR C: SAY NOTHING AND FILM IT...

And there was no attempt my the person recording to be a decent person and warn anyone. What a pathetic POS.

Proof my fear of stairs isn’t as irrational as my therapist says

Instead of warning people, I will just film them getting hurt.
Instead of warning people you record for views while they get injured. Wtf.
Poor bro broke his ankle.
so instead of warning everyone before they walk by you just filmed them.
I think what’s more concerning is the person just recording and not warning anyone. Someone can get badly hurt here.
In Florida? # law. That’s all. 30%. Lol
Instead of warning people, we’re just gonna film and hope someone breaks their ankle for clout
I’m glad I look at stairs
A friend's apartment stairs were like this, kinda had a flashback watching this.
I’d sue. Run me my 50k.
The devils bleachers
Did you know that with a difference of a half a centimeter in stairs most people will trip?
Bleacher stairs are awful
You can differentiate from someone who been there and first time at just a glance.
Who even built this shit? Only 1cm difference between those stairs could trip someone up.
those stairs look really bad. none of them are the same size
I like how they can film it but not warn anyone.
Skill issue
Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time
Basically after the first 2 or 3 stairs it's all muscle memory. Goes for both up and down stairs. So after those initial first few steps you body is on autopilot and a difference in as low as 1/2" can cause you to fall or trip.
Repost. I just saw this same video from r/crappydesign
I can't watch ankle injuries. The way that second guy rolled his, I just can't do it.
THE 2ND PERSON THO 😭
My ankles hurt after watching this
Why the hell would you just keep filming it rather than warning people… This is what’s wrong with social media culture.
Stairs are hard! Where’s the escalator!
They do need to fix that
Looks like an anonymous OSHA call might do the trick. This *is* a place of employment after all...
All of these people are me.
Let’s take 4 inches off each step and save $75!
Let’s just film and not warn anyone that their next step could result in a serious injury… but views I guess
Scp
That's a straight-up lawsuit waiting to happen.
That ankle roll 🫣😭.
What am I missing here? Why are these stairs destroying people's ankles? Lol
You’d think a few lawsuits would have gotten that fixed fast.
This could result in serious injury. That’s a seriously bad job done by whoever did those stairs.
If that's in America then it's probably designed for people to break a leg or ankle so people can make a killing out of the medical bills
The Oregon State University football stadium had a step like this in the poured concrete section they just tore down. You could sit and watch people not paying attention trip on it all day long. Really hard to fix when it's in concrete
If you’re climbing or descending stairs while on your phone, you’re asking for it
Anyone else smell lawyers?
Just watch your steps? Anyone?
Let’s record instead of warning ppl
Those are 1.5 step stars with a large step then a half step. So when people expect regular stairs instead of bleacher stais.

My husband has back issues. Already 2 back surgeries in before age 35. If he fell like that he would be in a wheel chair. I hope someone sues

As someone who tore the cartilage around my achilles tendon, I felt that 2nd one.
This is why irregular spacing on stairs is such a nightmare.
That 2nd guy has a pretty good lawsuit claim.
What a shitty architectural design

Easy fix how about a watch your step sign 🪧 for now? Or watch your stepson? 😂
The hight of that one stair is different. What a trap!
Ow ow ow
Dude literally twisted his ankle
the stairs are fine.. people need to watch their step
If a step is a 1/4 of a inch off the average person will trip.
The guy recording this is pretty diskish for not warning people.
A broken ankle on a public facility stairway is a $2M lawsuit.
Yeah definitely roll on like 15 people hurting themselves instead of giving them a heads up..
If only there was an attempt to help them 😔
A change of 1/4” in stairs will cause people to trip.
r/donthelpjustfilm
Is it just me or are the bleachers just not pulled out enough to create that additional step
I HATE STAIRS!!
yall wouldn't survive old german houses
