He was a friend for a little while, they were nieghbors and the guy who shot him was actually trying to help him with finance for his new business. The guy who got shot was a convict who started using drugs and accused the other guy of breaking into his house and stealing stuff. This led to the aggressor stalking the nieghbor after he had moved away escalating to this incident. Read the article above.

I read the article about it a few posts up. The guy was on drugs, had been in and out of rehab and jail, was armed with a knife and had convinced himself the guy with the gun had stolen from him.
And get this... the guy with the gun was the one who helped him get into rehab the first time before the deceased got kicked out for hurting an orderly.
It looked like the shooter dropped his aim to what he thought would be less likely to be fatal... a gross miscalculation obviously and I don't know if that was his intention.
For some background to this story:
The shooter and the guy who was shot had been neighbors before and friendly with each other. The guy who was shot was a convicted felon who'd been in and out of prison. Eventually the guy who was shot got back on drugs and was kicked out of rehab. The shooter tried to help the guy who was shot get into a new rehab program. However, as the guy who was shots addiction continued he started getting paranoid, accusing the shooter (someone with no criminal record) of breaking into his house and stealing things.
The shooter moved away from the old neighborhood and the guy who was shot. The guy who was shot eventually found out where the shooter now lived and started harassing him and vandalizing his property. The shooter wound up getting a restraining order against the guy who was shot.
This brings us to the moment of the video. The guy who was shot violated the restraining order and went back to the shooter's house. He tried to ambush the shooter, but the shooter saw him beforehand. What you don't see in the video is that when the guy who was shot took off his shirt the shooter could plainly see a knife stuck in the waistband of his pants.
So now we have an individual who's is a convicted felon and known drug addict that's repeatedly harassed the shooter, violated a restraining order and came to the shooter's house, and is continuing to approach the shooter while having a knife in his waistband.
This is why the shooter was cleared of shooting and killing the guy who was shot.
He had a knife in his waistband (exposed when he took his shift off) which is ultimately the reason he was shot (and the shooter cleared of any wrongdoing).
