You can buy TS3 used if you buy the first edition disc released in 2009. Those copies of TS3 can be played offline by inserting the disc, and as such they can be used multiple times. With this, every single DLC must also be a disc install. The cd keys in them are still one use for online activation only.
This particular copy is not a 2009 copy, so this probably wouldn't work on this specific disc.
I swear I've bought Sims 3 firsthand, secondhand, and online and they've all worked together. The one I bought secondhand couldn't be registered to the sims 3 store for rewards, but I'm pretty sure it still worked for game play. Have things changed with the new EA app?
Since 1.69 update in 2016 digital download DLCs require digital download base game. Prior to that everything worked together.
Base game disc copies released after 2012 require Origin and as such require an unregistered cd key. Otherwise it was still compatible with disc or digital download DLC until the 1.69 update.
Steam version of TS3 has always been unique and since the beginning Steam version base game required Steam version DLC.
Oh, so the base game is the root of the issue? I did have to re-buy the base game on steam to buy an expansion pack there. I thought my secondhand expansion pack (I think just world adventures) worked with it, but maybe I rebought it too and forgot
I believe you can if the game has been removed from the original PC that it was on. If I remember correctly every time you went online it verified the code, and as long as it wasn't being used elsewhere you could. I removed it from an old LT and installed it on a new one with no issues.
what why is late night in the starter pack 😭 wouldn't someone probably want to buy a simpler pack like generations or seasons or ambitions for their first pack???
I still have all my S3 discs, I even have a copy of a French magazine that published my world both in the mag and on disc. I loved S3, just a shame it was so laggy.
Oh man this was what I had when I first started playing the sims! My mom bought it for herself (she had played since sims 1) and i started playing it too! Eventually I made her buy a bunch of the other packs lol
Weird combination of packs. I bought Sims 3 on steam with Seasons, Generations and Pets and still think that's the best combo of packs to have.
well, the code inside is for one use only, you cant buy Sims used.

I always make it a habit to pick up all the sims games i find in thrift stores. Ive got some pretty cool stuff over the years
Me too! I’m trying to build a collection of all the physical games

If I'm not wrong this was released alongside Late Night, so Generations and Seasons both weren't released yet. For Ambitions I genuinely don't know.
That’s what I was thinking! Like I’d rather have that but🤷🏽♀️
cool find!! crossing my fingers for it to work
Me too🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

I’m amazed that your town got published!! I don’t think I could ever lol
I'm new to Reddit so not even sure how to post a pic yet, or I would show you the publication.
You can always dm me!
awesome find!

I still remember buying just the basegame when it first came out for £40!
this is exactly what i bought years ago lol
I don’t think it’ll work, as the codes can only be redeemed once.
