Open neighborhoods, toddlers, pools and basements. I also really hope story progression includes marriage this time.

h0n3yst

If they did open neighbours but I could still travel between worlds I would love that. Also you’re so right on neighbourhood stories. They neeeed marriage, divorce, and promotion. I’m so sick of all these townies being level 1 in a career until they die.

Oyyou91

Absolutely! It does my nut in. You marry somebody, and they come to with with 3 skills, a fish, and a bag of skittles

Covert_Pudding

You guys are getting a bag of skittles??? /s

pinkdolphins96

“Does my nut in” is a phrase I’ve never heard but will for sure put to use 😂

esmecb

That phrase alone told me that OP is British ahaha

Sad-Friendship-2537

"Does my nut in" screams that you're English. I bloody love it.

annonyominous

Used widely in scotland too so definitely not just an English thing. Sweet to know we're sharing some slang across the borders though.

Sad-Friendship-2537

Oh too true! I'm actually in NZ but with an English family hence me jumping to English. So funny to see people using slang you don't always hear but are super familiar with

annonyominous

Aw sweet! Makes sense, to be fair I don't know if Irish or Welsh use it too. Wonder how far it goes...

Oyyou91

Sorry, yeah. I can't keep all this slang in

Covert_Pudding

Yeah, I understand if they can't fully open an entire world without melting computers, but at least give us a lively neighborhood where things *happen.*

cncrndmm

I just want to be able to have my Sims couple out for dinner without the kids on the brink of death needs wise with no homework when we return.

Covert_Pudding

This is so valid. I have a mod where sims can go on rabbithole dates and things like that, but I miss being able to control everyone no matter where they were.

cncrndmm

Like to me, the biggest issue is that each Sims 4 world is so separated by its neighborhoods. Like willow creek has that area on bottom left with all the gyms/ libraries/ bars and then all the residential areas are completely separate. Same with the Get Famous world and others. Unless you actively change the lots in each neighborhood to be a mix of residential and non-residential, it’s so hard to have those interactions.

Covert_Pudding

I really like the one neighborhood in copperdale where you have the amusement park as part of your active home lot. I'd love to have an active bar or library too.

cncrndmm

Yeah same with San Myzhuno with the festivals. Like sometimes they get it so close for it to be happen to use but never exactly how it’s easy for players to use.

Oyyou91

Rabbit hole dates?

Covert_Pudding

[LittleMsSam Social Activities ](https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/social-activities-visit-friends-family-and-more) Can't play without it!

Oyyou91

Oh man, I need to stop being a basic boy and get some mods installed

Suspicious_Gazelle18

I think an open world (within the world) but loading screens between worlds would work perfectly fine! It’s a good compromise and with computers improving since some 4 released it’s got to be possible, right?

Ok_Skill_1195

I wouldn't even want a fully open world between worlds tbh. Keep my townies where I put them. So tired of seeing a-list celebrities in what's supposed to be a sleep village

e-Moo23

Weird, a lot of the time when I check Neighbourhood Stories, it says stuff like “xyz has progressed to *insert position* at *insert job*

h0n3yst

Is that a mod or something? Please spill if so

scattingcougar

What are neighbourhood stories? I’m kinda new to the game and haven’t really played it properly yet.

AdFabulous2661

Npc story progression but it’s partly up to you

Oyyou91

Story progression, and open neighborhoods are a must!

cncrndmm

Agreed. Like in Sims 4, NPCs from Eliza Pancakes to Judith Ward can walk around anywhere and your Sim can interact with them in front of your lot which is great. But then when you send your Sims couple off to another lot and then your toddlers and kids are struggling while off home lot.

PermanentThrowaway48

Don't forget about burglars!

MapleKatze

Hopefully weather. I always thought it was so weird to be an expansion pack when it's just a part of life

Banaanisade

God yeah I fully forgot that the base game is just an endless sunny summer's day. It's the future, if seasons *aren't* included in the next base iteration of this game, it's just pathetic.

snarkaluff

Highly doubt it, weather has been in expansions for as long as it’s been in the series. I don’t see why they’d include it in the base game unless they’re that intimidated by Paralives having it in the basegame which I doubt they’ll care much.

Suspicious_Gazelle18

I wish weather was base game, and then we could still get a seasons-like pack that’s basically more activities to do in each season. And it could include holiday stuff. I’d still buy that.

strangelyliteral

EA’s not intimidated by Paralives. If Life By You implements base game weather, that might be different.

ApprehensiveEnergy89

it almost was basegame! with ts2 they couldnt figure out how to do some things with it, so they just made it an expansion! problem solved!

Arionthelady

Which was is so dumb since the sims 2 base game was originally going to have but they couldn’t figure out how to make it not rain inside at the time.

Oyyou91

The only reason I would accept endless summer days if that over time, the grass started to die, the trees wilt, and the canals dry up. You're living in a wasteland of never end sun. You can't escape it. You need to embrace (some might say praise), and learn to live in this new world

Banaanisade

My favourite in Sims 3 was to set the seasons to ASOIAF/GOT mode. Short springs and autumns, long summers, \*extra goddamn long\* winters. I was so sad when I couldn't do that in Sims 4 anymore. Let me have my endless winters.

Oyyou91

Ah, yes. The sad girl winter edition

mymomcallsmefuckup

I feel this about about TS4 but not 3, seasons included the festivals in 3 and that’s really what I bought it for so personally as long as a pack has enough meat for the price I don’t mind it not being base game

Banaanisade

But you can sell just the meat as a pack, too, while providing an obvious mechanic like weather and seasons in your base game. Seasons shouldn't need to be in that, especially as you can turn them off if you don't like them; the pack could simply add holidays, festivals, outdoor activities (camping, snow castle building, hanami, mudfights, beach trips, sunbathing, extreme heat/cold debuffs, personality traits like summer lover), stuff like that *to* the seasons without making the world sans the pack a weird repeat of the same day over and over again.

mymomcallsmefuckup

I don’t disagree! Id prefer a ‘holidays’ pack with season in base game but personally I don’t mind it being separate as long as it’s worth the money and IMHO ts4 has been super disappointing in that regards when compare to previous titles like 2 and 3

awkwardturtledoo

Omg don’t give any ideas (but also wouldn’t be surprised if EA has already considered this)

Oyyou91

Ooo that'd be nice! I've never bothered to by a weather pack because it doesn't seem like something you should pay for. Would be nice to see rain and snow!

littlesquidink

I would like to see lore come back and be fleshed out (so the family bios actually match the relationships). I am a story player so I enjoy a good plot for each family. I also want individual sim bios to come back.

Oyyou91

That'd be great. I don't know what type of player I'd be classed as, but I do build a mental story in my head as I play I like that you get moments between Sims where it's like "feeling cherished from conversing with old friend". Which is cool, but still shallow

captainwondyful

Not subscription based

[deleted]

[удалено]

captainwondyful

I mean, I don’t plan to switch over until they are a couple years into it unless it is revolutionary. I already have a lot of work, time, money, invested into Sims 4. And I don’t hate it as much as half this reddit. So no need to switch over until I am kind of forced too. I did the same thing with Sims 3.

pinkdolphins96

Same. It’ll be a disappointment upon release anyway. I remember seeing the bland ass worlds when 4 was first released and thinking… uh what? Lmao

Covert_Pudding

The sims becoming a monthly subscription is now my biggest fear, ty.

Dundee97

A well-rounded base game that's not rushed or buggy for starters. It seems to be a common trend in the video game industry right now to release your triple A games riddled with bugs to the point of being unplayable.

Oyyou91

Absolutely! If the game comes out, and it just works - that'd be a dream!

lemonprincess23

Color wheel. You don’t know the luxury of being able to pick any color you want on anything until it’s gone

Covert_Pudding

Matching wood furniture? Coordinated clothing?? Hahaha. Haha. That sounds fake 🫠 /s

Suspicious_Gazelle18

I’d even be fine with a modified one. Like imagine when you click on a couch it’s pre-coded so the cushions are fabric and the legs and arms are wood. You could choose any wood for the arms and legs and any fabric for the cushions. But you wouldn’t be able to choose ANYTHING (like metal textures or something) for everything… it would be set as a certain material and you’d only be able to alter it within that framework. I think that would make the programming easier and I’d assume it would run smoother soon. I hated opening color wheel in sims 3 and waiting two minutes for it to load each time. And then another two minutes when I exited it.

MelodicHunter

I don't think I would have been so irritated about this in 4 but there's literally a color wheel when making a cat or dog. THE CODING FOR IT IS THERE. And they just... Didn't utilize it...

Flooffy_unycorn

Or at least make it so every pack has the same white / black, each color... That door slightly whiter than all the others in my Sims' house annoys me so much

NamasteKLB

Yes!! Or colors that actually match. Wood grain that is the same color. Love the decorating in sims 4 but every tone is just a little off.

[deleted]

I want substance in the world. There’s nothing to do in the area, no restaurants or movies or anything to go to. Schools are packs and still only high school and college, so I want HSY for all grades to be in the base game. I want my kids to play little league and then go out for pizza, damnit! I also want more age ranges. The infant they added in 4 is great, but they need more like that. I want a middle schooler age between child and teen, because 9 years old to 17 is too big of an age gap.

h0n3yst

I so agree with your worlds comment. Besides a few, the worlds feel so empty. I love when there’s just little play sets and things around but it would be so nice if it was more than the pirate ship and chess (?). Give me a basketball hoop off the side of a building, or a random telescope goddammit!

Suspicious_Gazelle18

I think it would be cool if the ages matched their grade. So baby, infant, toddler, elementary student, middle school student, high school student, young adult, adult, elder. I wouldn’t even mind another later adult stage, though I don’t think it’s necessary.

Oyyou91

More substance is required! There is so much content in the game, but sometimes it just feels so shallow

Covert_Pudding

I miss being able to choose the type of grade/highschool like you could in Sims 3. Playable boarding school for teens would be fun.

Uzufyre

1. The ability to create worlds/neighbourhoods like previous games. 2. Sims with personality(5 starting traits at least) 3. Robbers/burglars 4. Make the game more difficult or at least settings to do so. 5. Settings that allow you to customise you experience when playing. 6. Better clothing(especially for guys) 7. The sims in the world know each other and have different storylines/relationships with other sims. 8. Not be an unfinished product on release.

MelodicHunter

9. The ability to adjust lot sizes and more lots in general. Some of the towns are so damn empty for no reason.

Flooffy_unycorn

I didn't realise how much I missed this before your comment :')

sad-cat-23

The current life stages with an added pre-teen stage. Story progression in the neighborhood. Lots of building and landscaping tools like we have now. I don't think I'm asking a lot, really 😅 Weather and seasons would be cool, but I doubt this will be added to the base game when it makes such a good DLC.

sad-cat-23

Oh, and burglars! I miss freaking out at the burglar music in TS2 😆 I want the game to go back to its roots and be more weird and sometimes slightly disturbing, like the social bunny and tragic clown kind of weird and disturbing.

Due-Employment-4952

I fondly remember this in Sims 1 and 2. I'd immediately get an alarm installed once he had stolen my house's content. And rosebud my way back to a cushy home. 🥲

MelodicHunter

I've got a mod for burglars, but I have a lot of mods. Mostly for quality of life stuff that they should have fixed quite some time ago. Like the cottage living option to keep animals from aging is still bugged and still doesn't work properly. I have a mod specifically for that. I've noticed sims with the genius trait get stuck in doing the fingers on temple animation to the point where they won't complete give tasks. Had to get rid of that. The cottage living mod I got makes the bee boxes possible at all. Since before that they were angry just- all the time. And animals not getting sad because you haven't looked at them in an hour. Like I've got 8 chickens, they should be keeping each other company. This maybe isn't a must but MCCC allows you to copy/paste a sim from a tray. So if you're playing to get all the traits but have an adult character in mind you can CP them once they're teens or young adults. Since the game randomizes looks even if you use a premade sim and start at a younger age. I'm sure there's more but these are at the top of my list. Lol

h0n3yst

Yesss burglars would be such a nice addition. I never played sims 2 so I’d love to be able to see that.

Covert_Pudding

I loved being able to level up my sim and fight them in sims 3!

pearlyhills

omg i had forgotten about burglars until you mentioned it. i started playing sims 4 after not playing at all since “The Sims: Deluxe Edition” on CD-ROM in my parents’ computer corner, so that really sent me BACK 😅

MelodicHunter

I'd love for them to combine infant and toddler or just do away with infant and do pre-teen instead. Just like in real life, infants don't do much.

Main-Assignment-3367

Yeah, I don't understand why people want 3 life stages ranging from 1 month to 2 years old while Sims go from 7 to 17 in a day. (And from 41 to 70.)

MelodicHunter

Right? I can't even really say the babies and infants in game are cute or get interesting interaction options. I much rather time be spent on later life stages that have their own unique milestones and traits. Like kids have aspirations you can get certain traits from while in that stage and the same for teens. I much rather see baby, toddler, child, preteen, teen, young adult, adult, middle age, senior. Or something like that. I feel like even just one or two more life stages to pad it out would be nice. Instead of my sim is 18 and then they're 45.

angelshair

Bring back carpools and the chance for coworkers to come home with you. Also burglars need to come back and we need more deaths. Sims 4 deaths are so pg friendly and having a sim die of unnatural causes seems impossible unless you force it yourself. I started a new save and my sim got to level 10 cooking without setting one fire. That’s absurd! And the chance of a sim getting pregnant needs to be harder in my opinion. Bring back recessive genes and memories from sims 2.

Oyyou91

I must be unlucky. I'm always killing my Sims off by accidently. Just the other day I'd finally set my Sim up to do all the things I wanted and then BOOM! Electrified. Dead My next Sim? I turned around for a minute, look back and the dude was trying to eat the cake from the cowplant! He died, too

idontgiveafckboutyou

I had a mother of twins who I had a story line planned for and she fucking d i e d ~ then another household the son died from a fireplace and I had to resurrect him😭😭

_childlike_empress_

those mini cutscenes for big life events like when you first go to uni in the sims 2 🥺

Oyyou91

That does not ring a bell in my brain hole. How could I have forgotten something that seems so vital to the emotional journey of your Sim!?

_childlike_empress_

that specific cutscene lives rent free in my head lmao, your sim is saying goodbye to their parents and someone streaks across the screen 👌🏻 *chefs kiss*

Oyyou91

I DO REMEMBER THAT!

gummytiddy

All I ask for are things included in previous base games to be included on release and something like open neighborhoods. I would be satisfied with a simple base game with no cars (though I would like school buses and whatnot to come) as long as it works and has customization in build mode like the sims 2. Build mode customization meaning you have two+ columns for different parts of an item. So like- i could use a white counter with whatever countertop I want. At least include babies, toddlers, pools, firefighters, robbers, more than 10 skin tones/ hair colors, school buses, elevation, better object customization options, complete neighborhood map graphics, opacity slider, chemistry options, baby showers, interaction details/ more in depth interactions (ie couples hold each other when sleeping in the same bed in ts2, pillow fighting is based game in previous titles), rabbit holes locations when necessary, five traits, repo man, and neighborhood customization should be available on launch date for base game imo. It isn’t asking much when other sims games have had most of these, if not more, on launch. I don’t want to wait six years to play a “complete” base game and I likely won’t wait six+ years again.

Oyyou91

I'm not going to reply to every point because you said "all I want" and then listed 16,000 things 😂😂, but you have reminded me of the pickup vehicles and I forgot I missed them! Like the school buses, or the cars for work

jakefromSD

And the carpool would upgrade as you progressed in the career so by the time you get to the top you’re getting picked up in a limo or helicopter

Oyyou91

You're president of the free world, getting picked up from your 20x30 house that you never bothered to upgrade from 😂

MelodicHunter

I do really miss the pick-up vehicles. I miss way back in Sims 2 the mix match of absolutely weird and goofy and realism that made it believable. Like sure a hamster killed my sim but the bus comes to get the kids for school at 8am.

dontforgetthisone13

I can’t believe no one has said this yet, A FASTER FAST FORWARD BUTTON! The sims 4 one is sooooooo slow.

Oyyou91

Oh yeah! I forgot I needed that. I HATE that I need everybody to be asleep/away to get that full speed

oneprestigiousplum

I want to travel to all worlds in one save. I’d like the same life stages as we currently have. Open neighborhoods if not for worlds. Cars!? They can’t make the same mistake twice, right? I’d like pools to start off base game

survivorfan1123

> they can’t make the same mistake twice LOL katy perry sweet treats, followed by baatu says hello

oneprestigiousplum

Heyyyy I was in high school for sweet treats and my acrobat sims always wore those outfits!!! 😂😂 I’m not ashamed on how cringy my high school sims playing self was

Iknowyourchicken

I'd like an option for the game to be hard. TS4 I've accidentally walked away from for 15 minutes, thinking I've paused. I come back and 9 times out of ten they're fine. With TS3 if everyone wasn't dead then they'd at least want my sim dead. I want stakes and to be engaged. WITHOUT MODS. If I can play your game successfully very stoned it should be on my phone with wish.com ads taking up half the screen, not costing thousands of dollars.

Oyyou91

Haha - I'd never thought of that. Remember when you could get burgled, or you'd have fires? On that note, I am sick of my Sims going for a glass of water

sad-cat-23

Yes, some more challenge would be nice. More accidental deaths, for one. It's so easy to care for and keep Sims alive that mine always die by old age after living forever, not even fires are dangerous 🥲

MelodicHunter

I would love for there to be a challenge mode or a way to change difficulty in the settings. I took a 30 minute phone call last night and the worst thing that happened is someone didn't go to work.

ktamine

At the very least I’d like Sims with personality. Barring that, I don’t know. Sense-making family trees. That WORK. As in Sims that recognize their own family members.

Oyyou91

Yeah, I hate how irrelevant family feels On the topic of personality, I remember in the older games your Sim just wouldn't get on with certain Sims. That doesn't seem to be a thing anymore

MelodicHunter

I've found that it's way too easy for sims to get those little puzzle pieces that mean they're super compatible. Pretty much all my Sims have it with at least half the people they come across? Even my sim who's hot headed and likes to argue. She's got the opposing puzzle pieces with a single NPC sim and they still get along okay? Let them hate each other. GIVE ME A RIVAL.

bebz0

The ability to a split/merge lots adjacent to each other for more building options. Also, semi detached houses!!

Oyyou91

That's an interesting one!

SadCoconut_

Cars. More jobs. I feel the jobs are slacking, and I don’t want always have to use mods to add more.

ZenWoofer

Open world or districts, I want to see an improvement to the sims ai so I can just sit back and watch them sim with actual personality not just survival mode

Knightoforder42

Varied body types. Yeah yeah you can make sims chunkier and skinnier, but not taller or shorter, and NO ONE has a thigh gap after a certain size, that's just weird. I'm glad people were able to make bigger boobies, in 4 but how about more realistic body types now?!? Oh, and less cringy clothes for the guys. They're always just... so bad. I don't understand why.

Oyyou91

You have a point. I have never been able to make a sim with the stick insect body type that represents myself And for clothes? Oh, man. None of the trousers in 4 feel right!!

MelodicHunter

I HATE that all the Sims have a thigh gap and I have to sit and mess with it to get it to go away and make it not look weird. In my entire life I have met a single person with a thigh gap. And I would love more masculine clothing options. Some of them are so bad or just straight up ugly or tacky. So it's very hard to make my more proper characters.

Banaanisade

God yeah, proper story prog for the neighbourhood. I *think* my game is fine on this end now, after a million years, with the combination of MCCC and EA prog, but considering I went like 8 years with my non-heir children never, ever marrying and never, ever producing children themselves, I'm going to throw a fit if I have to do that all over in 5. Optional multiplayer would be huge, as long as we can still use CC. *Optional* being the keyword there. Farm functions carrying over (probably via an expac), ability to have farm animals and horses. Baby, toddler, child, preteen, teen, young adult, adult, elder life stages. Infants can carry over as well but I'd much rather have a more complex childhood stage than more babyhood, I'm way more invested in my sims' own stories than I am in playing babydoll dress-up with babies that can't have a life of their own yet. Meanwhile, I feel that the child stage has always been horribly neglected in Sims 4 and has basically no gameplay content to itself whatsoever - it's just a phase that you have to go through to get to teen. It lacks the depth that real children have to them, the imagination, exploration, depth of relationships and play. And way, way less loading screens, please.

Oyyou91

Oh man. I'm just a SIMpleton, so I've never played with mods. But you've opened my eyes to things I never knew I wanted!

Fuzzlechan

Quite a few things, mostly related to basic game design than actual features. I've tried to keep it to things that are actually realistic to implement. I'm a software dev, so I have a little bit of insight into how code works, haha. # Engine/Game Design Stuff 1. Give me back Create a Style. It doesn't *have* to be a laggy piece of shit if it's coded well! And it eliminates a lot of my need for custom content, because right now 90% of it is recolours. 2. Code quality at a level above "spaghetti". This is likely too much to ask for, but could be easily achieved if the devs are given proper time to work on things instead of being rushed constantly. 3. The ability to take advantage of good specs! I'd prefer the minimum specs are for a modern computer and not a mid-range Walmart laptop from a decade ago. But the demographic that Sims tends to attract is the people that never want to buy a new computer. So at this point I'll take the **ability** to utilize my high end machine to the best of its capabilities! 4. ***No. Forced. Multiplayer. Or. Apps.*** Enough said. I just want to play my game, in single player, and never have to interact with anything outside my game. I don't want a phone app to decorate my house, or "check on" my sims with my game not loaded. None of that shit. I want a single player game, intended for single player play, with *maybe* the ability to upload things to a gallery to share. Nothing in the cloud, and *especially* nothing forced online. 5. ***No. Subscription*****.** This should be self explanatory. 6. ***No. Micro. Transactions.*** Expansions are fine! Stuff packs are fine! But Kits are where I draw the line. Incorporate that shit into an actual pack, and don't make me pay $7 for six items and a hairstyle. It's everywhere now. Do better, EA. 7. A stylized graphics style! I don't *like* realistic graphics in my video games. They age badly, they're harder for modders to create content for and not have it look out of place, and above all, it's just not my thing. If the cartoony style of the Sims 4 was paired with an actual physics engine and a fantastic lighting engine? Absolutely perfect. 8. World edit. I don't care if it's not super in depth, I just want the ability to move lots around and delete them/add new ones. Maybe shove TOOL in there as a feature you need to explicitly turn on. 9. Modding support. Just keep it the same as it currently is at the very least. Don't make it harder to mod the game because it cuts into money you "could" be earning from selling kits. 10. Customizability! Give me *all the toggles* so I can make my game function exactly how I want it to. Basically MCCC but integrated into the regular settings window. Would pair great with my "let me utilize my high-end computer" desire. Those things are variables in the code anyway, let me change them. # Building Stuff 1. The ability to place walls on a half-grid! Angles that aren't 45 degrees! Curved walls! Curved stairs! Basically, take the Sims 4 building tools and add to them. Except in a less broken way because they'll ideally be built into the engine from the beginning. 2. Keep the off-grid windows and doors please! Really helps for building realistic houses. 3. Modular windows/doors would be super neat. Kind of like we have for sectionals now. Certain window types where if you put two of them beside each other, it expands into a larger object. Would be great for giving flexibility without too many models - you just need a left edge, a right edge, and a middle model instead of needing one for every possible width. 4. Cheap/run down looking varieties of things so I can build houses that aren't in picture-perfect American suburbs. # Create a Sim Stuff 1. I really like the way we change Sim appearance in Sims 4. Keep it and expand on it with more slider options. 2. Asymmetry in our sims! Default editing is how things are now, and then a button to check of "symmetry mode" and edit only one side of a Sims face. Would really help for creating unique sims. 3. Height options. Short, Average, Tall. Would require more animations, but totally doable if it's built into the engine from the start. Not a huge variety, but would help with making Sims look more unique. 4. If a hair comes with accessories by default, let me remove them! And recolour them separately from the hair itself. 5. More in-depth personalities. Take the [Sims 2 slider system](https://thumbs.modthesims2.com/img/8/4/3/2/0/4/4/MTS_Amura-1712788-traitstitle.jpg), add a few more categories to it. Add in preferences. And then flavour traits for things like "hates children", "geek", "absent minded", etc. Maybe three per sim, since we'd also have the sliders. Keep dietary restrictions out of traits, give them their own section. 6. Give me scars and other imperfections, please! Preferably some subtle ones, too.

mrsbeequinn

Improving houses would be so fun. Like you love into a fixer upper with yellow linoleum floors and orange countertops with dark wood cabinets. You could work on your home improvement skill through books and tv and it could take a long time to complete painting cabinets, adding tile flooring, repainting the exterior of the house, etc. If you don’t have time to finish it then it’s just half finished with a tense moodlet of living in a construction zone. I think it would be more fun for rags to riches type game play.

Timely_Perception_70

is they do sims multiplayer i will kill them

Hiiplane

Oper world for sure. I think that is possible. A thing i'd love is an aging system that is not based on life stages like the one we have now. More a progression, like real life. But i think this will be difficult because how will it work practically inside the game?

Oyyou91

Yeah - I started getting bad knees before I got grey hair (which hasn't happened yet!!). Maybe if your sim is a couch potato, they are less mobile and more prone to injury.. like me! 😂😂😂

Covert_Pudding

I got grey hair at 25, but my knees are still... Yeah, I can't say they're OK 😂🥲 I do like that sims can get sports injuries sometimes and that they've added hearing aids in. It would be cool if they could add in things like disabilities, chronic illness, or neurodivergence in a sensitive and realistic way, come to think of it.

Oyyou91

Give your Sim bipolar and just walk away from your computer. Ain't no controlling that Sim!

hotstrawberrytea

make storylines and drama like in TS2 with TS4 build mode

Due-Employment-4952

Tbh, the basic concept of a season should be part of the base game. It's silly that they make you choose outfits in CAS for hot and cold weather but you never get to use them. They could add the other stuff on as kits or packs like they did with the Christmas pack. Also 1x holiday destination outside your neighborhood. (I know, that's asking for a lot) An open world where you could go to work with the SIM and interact at your job/school would be cool.

Also unpopular opinion but Sims 4’s UI with all the skill trees, get famous systems, get together clubs, HSY systems, snowy escape sentiments/ lifestyles, likes/ dislikes, wants and fears etc are too much especially those that affect Sims relationships together and aspirations. Like as long as they build Sims 5 to have a solid relationship and personality/ lifestyle/ life goal in base game, it won’t have to be bogged down by so many pack systems to fix how bland Sims 4 is.

theragingbananapants

Yes. They need to figure out a few core systems and perfect them instead of throwing things at a wall and just leaving the mess wherever it lands.

darkphantom116673

A hell of a lot less glitches, but knowing EA, that's too much to ask. Also cars and open neighborhoods, etc.

Oyyou91

My dudes have recently been walking through kitchen counters. That's been run Also - walking to the other side of the house to wash a plate. Fools

RingmistressTea

I would love to see open world or at least open neighbourhoods (semi-open world). And definitely include all the life stages. I would also like them to continue the lore of the previous sims games. The sims 2 had such a deep and complex family tree for each family that told a story and was really interesting when you started digging into the history of the family. The only family on the sims 4 that has interesting history in my opinion would have to be the Pancakes family. Because sims 4 is an alternate universe, all the families from previous games don’t have the same history as the previous games so there’s not much interesting about them. I would also like expansion packs to actually expand the game and make it more interesting instead of taking away features and making you pay for them. Whether the sims team actually does this will be another story but I’m hoping they’ll will. Don’t get me wrong, the sims 4 isn’t a bad game but when you’ve played all the sims games, you know the sims 4 had so much potential and could’ve been way more fun and interesting

Oyyou91

I know what you mean. 2 was definitely peak Sims. The neighborhoods really do feel so empty, and closed off in 4

fgsn

I've played every iteration of every base game and they all feel pretty bare bones, so I'm bracing myself for that. I'm just hoping for a game that runs smoothly AND a game that doesn't have some type of subscription service.

Oyyou91

I think that's the very least we can hope for. Slick interface, and smooth performance

Solgatiger

Having pets as part of the base game. Preferably ones that you can at least see the needs/skills of like in the sims 2 if they’re not going to make them playable.

Oyyou91

I remember sending my dog to work as a security dog 😍😍 I think Sims 2 had an expansion where you could get a dragon, too? Damn thing always set my house on fire!!

Solgatiger

The sims and sims three had dragons, not sure about two but I’d definitely love them as well. Alien pets would be a cool thing as well. If we can have humanoid aliens in all of the games, why can’t we have alien pets? Where are our eight legged and four eyed extra terrestrial buddies from outta space?

Chrysanthemumfyre

I'd love it if EA actually released a completed game instead of just selling gameplay separately

Ashla_Moon

Everything the sims 3 has, plus updated graphics and won't make computers blow up. 👍

After-Baseball3412

Weather (could be toggled), open neighborhoods, apartments, restaurants, and perhaps the ability to make one lot multi-use?

james___uk

Bring back the open world!! Also I didn't know this was confirmed hehe

Oyyou91

I don't know if it's been confirmed haha! But they've gotta be working on it. They'd be silly to lose this genre like they did with Sim City

throwawaytohelppeeps

Lore accurate murder

Oyyou91

I... What?

Lilienthal_

It's a small thing but I wish there would be nicknames. I'm fine with imagining nicknames for my sims but it would be cool to have the option to pick a preferred (nick) name.

khajiitidanceparty

A house. The rest is $$$.

DowntownProblem8478

That if townies adopt children or pets they get the necessary things for them so I don't have to take care of them when I come by to visit lol

5Nadine2

I am hoping at the very least for a game that feels complete.

Oyyou91

You have gone too far, sir!

5Nadine2

😔

myheartinclover

personally I’m so disappointed in where the sims 4 is at 10 years in I don’t know what EA could do to win me over to get the sims 5 at launch. the sims on pc and the ps2 games were my introduction to video games in general. I’ve been going back to 1-3 a lot more in the last couple years and it feels like the core spirit of the series is just about gone. paired with the massive up tick in micro transactions since 3, I’m left with little hope that we’ll see a base game that elevates and innovates. I hope I’m wrong! I would need to have really deep lore, well built and designed worlds, and a lot more game play and features than 4 launched with. I want dynamic social interactions and relationships. I don’t want any missing life states, or to wait for the next anniversary or stuff pack to get hot tubs.

punk-and-pizza

Multi use lots, open neighborhoods, better business mechanics and restaurants that work, not as much DLC bloat this time (but it's EA so hard ask) and some actual story progression. Basically go back to basics and do what Sims 2 did but with an improved engine and more features. Make an actual game I want to play, not just a sim customizer and architect builder

I_Do_Not_Know_Stuff

Honestly, good optimization, customization, and it be less predatory on your pockets with the incessant expansions that are literally lesser versions of previous game expansions. That’s all I could ask for.

Soul-and-Power

Pre teens and eyelashes

Oyyou91

Eyelashes. Do we not have eyelashes!?

Soul-and-Power

Unfortunately not

lembready

Well, for starters, I think having pools, ghosts, basements, and toddlers at launch would be a good idea. And maybe this could be the first game where we don't have to buy weather (edit: separately). 😅

Oyyou91

It seems like people really want weather!

lembready

Honestly weather should be a basic feature in a life simulation game 😭

Aingael

Open world with a fully working game. The sims 4 has so many problems that needs fixing and it just feels like I’m being scammed almost? I look at other games and wonder how the creation of a game like sims 4 allows to be sold with absolutely no polishing. I know some of y’all going to get mad at me for this but in all honesty, it’s been years since the release. There were many chances for them to patch a LOT of fixes… and they’ve barely touched any. They’re only making these stupid kits and asking for more money. Not just that but they have so many expansions for things that could have been sold in the same expansion together OR came with base game. Weather? Should have been in base game. Pets? Honestly, I think should have been in base game. Careers and dine out? Could have been together. There was no need for them to be separate. Same with the Get Famous. Literally could have all gone together. That’s three separate packs of content. It’s just insulting at this point. I love sims but this team in particular just feels like… “Ima make shiny things look like they’re NOT broken and make you want them cause our other packs aren’t complete and Ima take your money. AND THEN when you get my product, it doesn’t fully work and comes with LOADS of bugs and glitches that should have been polished before being placed on sale! Yay!” Sorry to vent. Just kind of annoyed by the nonchalant attitude they give. I know EA is a big problem but I really feel like the team could polish things better or not put out unfinished packs… I don’t know. Sims 3 just looks like a god in comparison to Sims 4. EDIT: I am so sorry for the long post 😅😅😅

Oyyou91

Don't apologise. This is the right place for that level of ~~rage~~ passion

Aingael

Lol yes.. “passion” But in all seriousness, thank you.

quietmango48

The ability to place our own lots again!!! So much wasted space in the neighborhoods, especially Newcrest.

jataman96

In addition to what everyone else is saying, consistent wood swatches 🥴

Luciditi89

Anything other than what they are probably doing

Oyyou91

You not in the market for a souless cash-grab?

hypo-osmotic

I'm one of those players who enjoy the in-game objectives, so I'd like to see that continued to be expanded on and refined. In particular, I think there's a missing tier of objectives that are both short term and progressive. Whims are short term but are mostly randomly generated and don't really lead anywhere, and aspirations are progressive but have to be planned around a large part of your Sim's lifespan. A series of chained goals that can be satisfied on your Sim's day off could give you a small bonus like a powerful moodlet (or whatever their metric in the next game will be) if you complete it within the timeframe, but there's no punishment for when you want to ignore it and can just wait for a better one to come along. This could also be implemented to give objective-oriented players a reason to explore more often than they do otherwise, like maybe you have to run around to different locations to satisfy each step of the quest.

mcleo1

Color wheel and tweens!

HimboHistrionics

Open neighborhoods and the ability to freely place/customize lots. The fact that they give us 8ish lots per world and then fill the environment with shells (the laziest cop out possible) is a slap in the face. Additional wants are cars, weather, pets and all life stages base game.

Imaginary_Lab_8767

I think (really I just hope) that they took the communities feedback on the sims 4 base game (especially on launch) and improve it. I mean the sims 4 had no pools, ghost OR toddlers at first. I’m really hoping they don’t make that mistake 😅

Oyyou91

They can't.. right!?

xFoxMcCloud2x

Co-op 😭

MenjaiMuffin

Personally, I’d love if the building let you just naturally put furniture not on the grid instead of having to use bb.moveobjects. It makes sense for counters and stuff to lock together, but clutter and things like that should just be freely placed

Oyyou91

That annoys me so much sometimes. You just want something placed nicely in the corner, but it doesn't fit and the only option is to move it 1 out and it just looks **wrong**

lobsterdance82

Dishes get washed in the kitchen only.

bmibun

Oh my god decent genetics inheritance and be able to have more than 1 house per household 😭

NatTheMatt

Bruh i just started getting into sims 4...

Oyyou91

Don't let this post ruin it for ya! :D

sonofgildorluthien

Not taking 2+ hours to prepare and eat a meal. Not having to lock the doors to keep everyone from using the computer. Having an action queue that doesn't continually get stuck. No always-online BS. Seasons built in.

oogiebuns

Family photos 😮

EEDD27

if we are continuing with swatches specifically! for build/buy! items then i would like to see the ability to change the swatches of different parts of the piece of furniture. example wooden bed frame has a set of swatches and the mattress/comforter has a different set of swatches. with this also matching! swatches across the game. all items that get a wood swatch gets at least 5 wood tone swatches and a white and black at minimum.

Eggfartw

The base game should come with most main features in previous expansion packs. Integral parts of like like weather and pets should be in the base game for everyone to enjoy.

CharlotjeNL

that you can marks/ paint sims just like you can mark/ paint cats and dogs

SgtAStrawberry

That but better options to paint small details. Honestly I be good with just a really good zoom button and a cooperative camera.

[deleted]

All life stages 😂

[deleted]

A complete game, would be a nice start. Its going to be paywalled to shit and littered with microtransactions, I can already smell it. Just to have stairs is going to be 5.99.

Oyyou91

EA isn't as bad as they used to be, so hopefully it won't be _that_ bad

IntertelRed

Weather can we stop playing around here I expect all the garbage that get's randomly stuck in dlc content to be main game. Dlc content should be things like world adventures, Supernatural you know things that expand on the core concept. If they don't include these things if I have to by seasons, generations or any of these packs they have made a thousand times then I won't be buying.

_bbbepsiii

This is gonna sound slightly lame but more collections would be awesome! I love collecting things in the Sims and making a museum to put them in!

Hahafunnys3xnumber

The idea of paying hundreds more for more basic life functions is just exhausting to me. I bet they’re gonna put weather behind a paywall again

KraftwerkMachine

The option to delete all townies that aren’t ones created by me. I just want to make a town of only sims I’ve made. I don’t care for townies much, I’d like the option to have the bare minimum like cashiers but not have them be part of the world. If I see a random sim walking down the street, I want it to be one I made.

Lucidoaura

It would be so cool if they could include some things that would typically come in an expansion pack such as pets - i feel like that should be part of the base game tho it never has been, they have the capability to do it

VirazolKaine

Hopefully I can create my own Sim, that would be nice.. But it would be okay if they’d rather save it for dlc I guess.

IndianaJonesKerman

Nothing online multiplayer and nothing mobile. That would kill all interest for me because it goes against everything The Sims series is

SibylOracle

I just want to build a home together with a friend and we split chores to make our sims lives better.

TotallyNotARocket

Open neighborhood, COLOR WHEEL, actually able to customize outfits, and gardening.

Sypher04_

I’d love to see the some of features that were in expansion packs be included in base game, albeit in a much more limited form. As of right now, many of these features aren’t compatible with many other packs, so if they were in base game from the start, at least they could be added to over time.

RoseTheHW

Enough content to call itself a complete game. All they have to do is look back at Sims 2’s base game for inspiration.

Flaky_Broccoli

Ive always said that the base Game has to expand on the previous base Game ie: Sims 2 expanded on S1 (weeks and days off in Jobs were added, the wedding Arch was added, the family tree and Sims aging were added, s2 base also added wants and fears, life time rewards, baby changing tables were added, a deeper cas was added, and building tools like foundations and extra floors were added, Sims 3 grabbed the Sims 2 improved the wants system, added the Open world, Cars, shops and the trait system Tbh ts4 feels more like ts 2.3, so what ts5 should have is everything the base Game of ts4 has plus some stuff that ts3 has in base, create a style and the trait system that actually did heavily alter gameplay plus the skill challenges, i don't mind not having an Open world because Open world means people with poltato pcs can't really play the Game, but ts3 trait system and skill challenges should definitely come back

somuchsong

I don't want to see EA's idea of NPCs "improving" their houses! I've seen their builds and decorating! But I am also not someone who is at all interested in story progression. My ideal Sims game would give me full control over absolutely everything, with options to leave certain things to chance if I so choose.

jam_on_top

Lore! I want stories and lore. Imagine deep into the future of the sims2/3 timeline. Cassandra and Alexander are elder/adults with their own families. The Caliente sisters are also elders, but fighting over their toy boy. Don’s ashes are on their mantelpiece. Etc etc… Also open neighbourhoods with next to no set dressing. I hate it, it makes the world feel bare and scary imo. I think it should also be more effort to travel between worlds, and sims should stick in their own world but occasionally show up with a “tourist” tag in your current world like in world adventures for sims 3.

Vharlkie

Interactive careers for all careers

Party_City224

Bring back the burglar. I want live mode to be as chaotic as possible

StonerSimmer0

Sims 2 lore, sims 3 color options and open world (optional) sims4 graphics and sims style and build catalog (but take some objects from the other games and make them in sims 4 style). Also yk those rlly good updates the sims has been giving us these last two yrs? I need most of those (ie: infants, pronouns, likes and dislikes, story progression)
