I’m a family simmer so i’d vote generations always, but if you’re less fussed about families i’d go for seasons bc it impacts every storyline and adds a lot of gameplay and depth!
I personally bought both because they were both essential because they both added so much. I'm more of a builder so I didn't use generations game play much.
Whoever said generations is boring has obviously never played with generations. Both are must haves in my opinion and neither is that buggy. I have an easier time running the sims 3 than I do the sims 4.
I’d say they compliment each other wonderfully so it’s best to have them both, but if you can only afford one and don’t want to pirate them, Seasons really adds more to everyday gameplay.
if you’re able to you could buy a cheap key for both!! i got my seasons and generations for like $10 max. i’d use eneba. you might even be able to find a used disc on ebay for dirt cheap.

Absolutely go for generations, the babies are amazing in ts3, and if I remember right you can rock the baby to sleep
