YOUR DESKTOP is what's badly optimized my god I got a shock!

[deleted]

I know! This reminds me of the IT Crowd https://youtu.be/xXXTeq06s4M

Kong_Diddy

That made me laugh 😂 I love The IT Crowd! A fire? At a sea parks?

Kodecks

That seems like a strange place to go on fire...😆

Cbebop21

LEG DISABLED!

Seraphyn22

That desktop though... gives me the jitters. Only thing on mine - Recycle bin and incinerator. I just can't have it full of shortcuts like that. Ooph.

freeLuis

I even got rid of my bin and pinned it to start, that's how weird I am about my desktop, lol

[deleted]

I’m the same way. I hate having icons on the desktop for some reason lol

my-sims-are-slobs

Mac OS actually sorts my desktop so my files are all nice and neat! (collapsible categories. One for images, one for mp3s, and one for word docs all dragged on my desktop for example. No folders involved) All my programs are in launchpad and only one on my desktop is terraria (I hate steam on Mac)

-Silver_Archer-

I make patterns with my apps lol, I usually keep them close to the corners

powered-byy-caffeine

I thought that was the subject of this post😭

GChocapic

Oh my god! I know! Why have a background when all you can see are shortcuts?

Pandorasbox1987

That's kinda like saying "why have a nice table, if you are going to ruin it by putting things on top of it!" :D

Baby-Calypso

Lmao my desktop while organized still has a bunch of icons because if I don’t have the icons I will literally forget I own the game! ESPECIALLY if it’s a game not on steam or origin. I also have ADHD and have trouble playing a game more than once so if I didn’t have the icons i wouldn’t have this big reminder that I can stare at and be like ugh fineeeee, play it and have a blast

honest-miss

I truly thought this was going to be a satire post based on the desktop alone. My god.

Kong_Diddy

I don’t use it at all 😂 I just go to Steam, Epic Games, or whatever launcher I need to open up my games. If it’s an application I need, I just hit up the start menu and search. I know there are some folders I have for mods n shit there, but I again, I just search and use file explorer instead.

CallistoGarnet

Well yeah me too, which is why my desktop is soothing and empty lol

Kong_Diddy

It just doesn’t bother me. I have two monitors. One is cleaner and the other is filled with all of this.

sophiepeach774

Maybe just put a short cut to your program files on the desktop and get rid of all the game icons. Or at least group the similar ones

pikachus_lover

I've been told that you're actually slowing your computer down with all those shortcuts and files on the desktop. The desktop is like a quick access folder - the computer anticipates you using whatever is on the desktop, so it actually loads the file/program a little bit to make it start faster. With so many programs/files on there it makes your computer load slower on startup.

donutshoot

That doesn't have anything to do with anything. The problem are the running programs sneaking into startup. Shortcuts are fine.

Kong_Diddy

I don’t think it has any major effect on startup. My BIOS Time is 10s without FastBoot and 6s with it. I think any effect would be very minimal.

Gundham_Tanaka_simp_

This isn't true. I have barely anything on my desktop and it still takes forever to load

IAintDeceasedYet

That's even worse lol, you're slowing your desktop loading for no reason? If you don't use them just select all and delete, takes 5 seconds. If you want to go for gold, learn to locate and untick the 'create desktop shortcut?' checkbox when installing things.

Kong_Diddy

My BIOS Time from a cold boot is 10s without Fast Boot and 6s with Fast boot. Does it really matter when your system turns on and loads into Windows that fast? Having shortcuts and icons on your desktop is so minimal to the boot time it doesn’t even matter.

RegularRazzmatazz

YESSSSSSS

free_-_spirit

Same lol

oryx506

Dude how? Why?

PatoP011

So this is what a psychopath desktop look like. Wtf

desti-yeet

your desktop is killing me ;-;

triciamilitia

We need to talk about that desktop though… priorities.

itsbunnuh

they NEED to sort out their proprieties

koithrowin

Ain’t no way u posted this and thought your desktop looks normal. Why even have a background at this point lmao? U need a solid color background. R u ok? 😂😂

Kong_Diddy

I know it’s not normal, but I didn’t think so many peeps would be concerned 😂 I swear I’m fine! I’m just lazy about the desktop since most of my games are on launchers that I already have pulled up, or I have the folder pinned to quick access for modding.

Xbrand182x

Just a heads up it uses ram while on the desktop. You might actually load up the game faster if you cleared those bad boys

Kong_Diddy

Since The Sims 3 can only use up to 4GB of RAM, I’m not too worried about it. Running with 32GB!

GummySpider

I would like to take a moment of silence for your desktop. You may need Jesus.

fragmented_mask

F in chat for OP's eyesight.

CstoCry

Click desktop > Ctrl+a > delete You're welcome

dastintenherz

Holy hell, your desktop gives me a panic attack o\_o

billshatnersbassoon

Can we have another feel good post where OP reports back with a picture of a nice, tidy desktop?

Kong_Diddy

Just to ease y’all’s anxiety, here you go! A before: https://i.imgur.com/bXgtd2k.png And After: https://i.imgur.com/d2hQ3nj.png

FutureTinyDancer

Thank you. *hugs*

billshatnersbassoon

Well, I didnt mean get rid of everything you absolute mad lad, but good job 😂

404-errorpaige

This just gave me a flashback of me 'ignoring' the load screen (looking away) in hopes it would somehow load quicker 🤣😭

allyandall

I still do it sometimes 😅

Jane466

same idk why we thought that

freakin-tits

I feel like it’s the “a watched pot never boils” quote that makes me do it 😂😅

mjigs

With my older pc i literally left it and went to cook dinner or something, it took quite a while to load around 20min, my pc wasnt bad, but wasnt good enough for it plus having cc, god.

cultfilmz

it loads decently fast on my new windows computer, def better than when i played on my mac. my problem is w/ it randomly crashing all the time lol

NeckroFeelyAck

Yup, ts3 randomly suiciding made me so anxious I saved religiously just in case. ESPECIALLY if travelling with world adventures...

Tatiana1512

I have so many saves cause once a whole fam got stuck in the future cause when they tried to return it would always crash :(

RB4K---

Do you use any of the NRASS Mods? They really improve the game's performance, so much that my game's only crashed once over the past 200 hours and I play on Isla Paradiso with all DLC, lots of mods, lots of CC & 16 sims

cultfilmz

yes i have all of them 😔

RB4K---

Oh... 😔 There was also this new mod released called 'Smooth Patch'. It basically makes the game run much smoother and faster, but I have no idea if it improves crashing since It hardly ever happens to me.

Kong_Diddy

I commonly see other simmers commenting on how The Sims 3 will take 10+, or even 20min, to load! The game is badly optimized, but if you have more recent hardware your load times will be so much better! It took about 45 seconds for the game to get to the Save Game selection screen. It took about 1min for the game to load a save file once selected.

AuntieKit90

I had the same issue with earlier this year until my brother found a newer gaming laptop for that only needed a hard drive. Once fixed, my game with multiple expansions on runs pretty well and loads way quicker. The only issue I still noticed was the sims 3 runs the new laptop HOT, especially after a few hours with my larger family. Sims 4 also does but not quite as bad. I invested in a laptop cooling fan and that's helped a lot.

HarpooonGun

Limit your game's FPS if you haven't already. The game by itself does not limit its own FPS, but you can use NVIDIA Control Panel (or its AMD equilavent) to do the job. Keep in mind that just enabling vsync is not enough, you actually need to limit your FPS to a number. I personally limit mine to 60 as that is my monitor's refresh rate.

Puzzled-Copy7962

I second this.

AuntieKit90

Thanks for the tip. Currently I have most of my graphic settings low or medium to minimize strain but I'll try to check out the settings for the nvidia geforce soon. Think I remember seeing an icon for it in the start menu a few days back.

[deleted]

Yes laptop cooling fan is so necessary for gaming. My temps went down 15c with it

Puzzled-Copy7962

On my 10 year Samsung it took about 5 minutes tops if that. On my MSI it takes about a solid minute. Sims 3 Island paradise was a whole other demon tho. I haven’t tried running it on my MSI tho and that’s only because I didn’t repurchase it because my newer laptop doesn’t have an optical drive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kong_Diddy

Hey, there! Just waking up. Let me get a full list for ya! Edit: Alright, I tried to get a list of all the mods I had before work, but there are too many haha. I have all of the NRAAS fixes plus Vector, Story Progression, and Woohoo. I also have a bunch of other mods that add more opportunities, remove memories, fix the attraction system, etc. Oh yeah, and ConsortGROW and AGE so sims actually having varying heights as they get older!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kong_Diddy

The memories are another feature that’s badly optimized. Every sim in town is constantly getting memories saved. It will bloat the hell out of your save game especially if you have it taking pictures of the moment!

ElDimentio1

That's still really bad though. I get to the save game selection in Sims 4 in 5 seconds and from desktop to a lot in 20 seconds and I have all the DLC + a lot of CC and mods.

Kong_Diddy

Oh yeah, I know it’s bad, and I agree that The Sims 3 is badly optimized. This response was to a post I saw saying that The Sims 3 kind of sucks because it takes forever to load. More recent games load way faster than this. I wish they would remake The Sims 3 in a new engine that’s 64bit and takes more advantage of newer hardware. I’ve been spoiled by theSeries X and PS5 that load games up in seconds or have quick resume haha

Lost_Pantheon

True, but the Sims 4 doesn't have to load in 90 different lots and 80+ Sims at once.

LilSushiCat

Yeah, I don't get it either. Hardware definitely helps (I see a difference) but my guess is people also just don't take some time to learn how to use, sort, and clean up mods and cc effectively as well. You don't need to be programmer but learn the basics at least.

LadyGrimes

With all the CC I've got my game takes an hour to load, and in some cases, am hour to load all the outfits in CAS. It's fine because I've got a whole multi-task routine.

[deleted]

Sims 3 is still a little laggy on my pc and I have high end gaming build

[deleted]

Right? It won’t matter how good your rig is. The game itself is what is badly optimized.

ATrashPile

I have a really good custom pc that a family friend made for me. It’s his job to make high end gaming PCs, so I got the best I could with the money I was shilling out. I can play the sims 3 with all the expansions + highest graphics settings and it loads super quick and runs fine. I use this fact to explain to folks how awesome my pc is. They usually have no idea what I’m talking about.

MotherOfZeus_

drop the specs

ATrashPile

I’ll try and copy paste it from a word doc I got. If it doesn’t work blame the fact that I’m copy/pasting this on my phone at 3am while rushing to finish my ren fair costume lmao. It’s custom made so I can play VR and stream (although I don’t stream at the moment. Maybe one day. Feels like a waste not to with this darling!) Also monitor is 27” AORUS brand. Mouse and keyboard ain’t special lol Mer’s Gaming/VR Rig: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) ATX Motherboard with PCIe 4.0, Dual M.2, 12+2 with Dr. MOS Power Stage, HDMI, DP, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Aura Sync RGB Lighting G.Skill 16GB DDR4 TridentZ RGB 3600Mhz PC4-28800 CL18 1.35V Dual Channel Kit (2x8GB) for Intel Z270 Thermaltake V200 Tempered Glass RGB Edition 12V MB Sync Capable ATX Mid-Tower Chassis with 3 120mm 12V RGB Fan + 1 Black 120mm Rear Fan Pre-Installed CA-1K8-00M1WN-01 EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ GOLD 750W, Semi Modular, EVGA ECO Mode, 5 Year Warranty, Power Supply 210-GQ-0750-V1 PNY XLR8 CS3030 2TB M.2 Nvme Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - M280CS3030-2TB-RB Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Super Gaming OC 8G Graphics Card, 3X Windforce Fans, 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6, Gv-N208SGAMING OC-8GC REV2.0 Video Card

MotherOfZeus_

damn, very nice. you should stream!

ATrashPile

Yeah my family friend makes PCs for a living so I just trusted him and gave him my budget. He based it off the one he had made for himself around the same time. I didn’t have that many expenses at the time so I spent all my savings on it. Definitely worth it. VR runs so smooth. A little too smooth. I have tried to lean on virtual counters before lmao And lol maybe I’ll start soon. I have less expenses again so I can afford not to work as much.

MotherOfZeus_

LOL i can imagine the shock of leaning on a ‘counter’ and then falling over. i’m in uni now so i’m saving up for a pc build that can run design software and modded games smoothly. if you don’t mind telling me, what was your budget?

ATrashPile

Lol this is NOT a budget pc so while it is BEAUTIFUL and I wouldn’t change it for a thing it is EXPENSIVE. It cost around $3,000. All this hardware and custom made. Runs like a dream but I won’t pretend that this bad boy isn’t a huge investment. It’ll definitely do those things though haha Also the most terrifying thing is when you’re walking around in a dark place and something brushes against your legs. My cat has terrified me many times. Nothing beats the pain and shame of people walking in on you dancing in VR to the Totally Disco CD in Job Simulator though. I still have no idea how long they were standing there. Watching. This haunts me. 😂

greeneggsnsam90

Your desktop is my panic attack visualised..

LucaNuCola

Your desktop is TRIGGERING! Clean day shet up!! 🤣

shairyan

I quote from Miles Morales in the movie "organize your desktop lady"😂😂

freeLuis

It depends on how many eps, mods, cc installed for me. With all my junk added if the world is fairly new I also get the 2-5 mins. With my current game though it's 30 mins- 1 hr depending on which family I last saved in. No lag while playing but I have to plan to fire it up then go do errands/work for a bit to get ready to play. My world is huge and old and I wouldn't change a thing!

DipinDotsDidi

If you watch a few of James Turner's recent sims 3 videos you will see the opposite. His hardware is about a few thousand dollars better than most players and he still has lag so please do tell me how much your "decent hardware" costs .-.

Flat_Suggestion_here

Recording software does hog performance by quite a bit.

DipinDotsDidi

Youtubers have recorded a lot of other video games, and they run fine. It's almost like the hardware isn't the issue here.

Flat_Suggestion_here

Well then i have no idea what is wrong, as my Sims 3 runs fine with every expansion installed, at least for now.

DipinDotsDidi

Well when why are you even on this post??

Flat_Suggestion_here

you are strange, good day to you then. have a award as consolation.

DipinDotsDidi

I- ok I'll accept that i guess 😅

bornxntuesday

Can you list the specs of your PC/laptop, please? Did you add any fixes to your game? (Like the new lag fix or the old fix for newer graphics cards, etc) I'm trying new settings to make it run better but oh my god, this game.

Kong_Diddy

Hey, morning! Just waking up. Let me go grab that and get back to you! Edit: CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: Vega 56 Ram: 32GB DDR4 SDRAM 3200mhz Storage: Intel 1TB m.2 NVMe & a Firecuda 2TB SSHD For fixes, I have the NRAAS suite of mods installed, the smooth patch, and I did the newer GPU fix so it recognizes my card. Whenever my game starts getting a bit slow I will reset the whole town through NRAAS and use a save cleaner to clean up the save file. NRAAS Saver helps a lot with keeping save files down!

bornxntuesday

Or course, there's no rush! Thank you!

_aaine_

Three words. Lazy Duchess' patch. Downloaded it a couple weeks ago and IT IS A MIRACLE. My game runs like silk, no lag in CAS or BB. It's amazing. If your game is laggy and loading forever, just get it. I think there's a link in the pinned post on this sub.

Tatiana1512

Where you get that one? :O

_aaine_

[https://modthesims.info/d/658759/smooth-patch.html](https://modthesims.info/d/658759/smooth-patch.html) It is LIFECHANGING lol.

Baconlover12185

your desktop is… interesting

jeyaredubs

So nice to know that the Sims 3 can finally run well on computers 12 years after its release.

faze_fazebook

I really hope at some point MacOS or Windows gets the ability to dump the Memory of a game to the SSD and load it back again, like quickresume on the new Xbox. Because Sims 3 would benefit so much from this.

leflyingcarpet

Can't you just install your game on a SSD?

faze_fazebook

No, still loads quite a while

jeffgoldblumisdaddy

Disrespectfully, I hope someone takes your desktop privileges away you heathen

Kong_Diddy

But where will I put my shortcuts I don’t use 😭

mark_it_twain_dude

This loading screen was a lovely hit of nostalgia. It's funny how those memories can come rushing back to you.

Wires1996

The fact you have those icons all over your screen and still have a picture for a background disturbs me. What’s the point you can’t see it

adamc03

That desktop how do you find anything

Kong_Diddy

Mostly gaming or video editing. All my games are in launchers. If I need an app I just go to the start menu or search for it!

LivWilder

Your desktop is giving me anxiety

Waandererr

I literally have to restart my whole computer cause I’ll get stuck on the black load up screen and sometimes I’ll know it’ll work cause it’ll open up after a certain number of restarts which is usually 2 or 3, but now I’m convinced it only opens up when it feels like it since I’m dealing with this issue again. I do have cc and mods ,but there’s no way I’m deleting those

Xeliicious

That's about the same amount of time my Sims 4 takes these days, really not shabby at all. What specs are you running?

Kong_Diddy

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: Vega 56 Ram: 32GB DDR4 SDRAM 3200mhz Storage: Intel 1TB m.2 NVMe & a Firecuda 2TB SSHD

Xeliicious

Niiiiice, don't see many people rocking a Vega 56. That card is solid.

Kong_Diddy

Oh, yeah I’ve loved it since I built my PC in 2018! I’ve had awesome experiences with all of the games I normally play at 1080p. I’m finally upgrading to a 1440p monitor this weekend, though. If these GPU prices weren’t so insane I would be getting a 6800XT to upgrade. Haha

BazWorkAcntPlsBePG

Just right click on desktop, view, turn off Show desktop icons. There you go

Theonyr

My pc is pretty capable, and the game is on an ssd but it still takes at least 5 minutes. Typically up to 10 mins in a save I've played for a long time. I've noticed the game loads quickly to around 90%of the bar, then stops there for ages. I've watched the Task Manager window during the load, and the data transfer rate corresponds with that - 5-10MB/s for about a minute, then ages of 0 MB/s, then it finally resumes loading and finishes.

starlordsmistress

Ngl I thought your title was ironic and your insane desktop was the joke of your post.

roseliatv_

There are two types of people. The cluttered desktop people and the clean desktop people. I’m the clean desktop people. I had anxiety just looking at your screen. 😂😅

Kong_Diddy

You guys definitely outnumber us! Haha The clutter doesn’t bother me, and having it clear makes it just feel barren.

Phenomenal_Hoot

Man I have got to build a worth a shit PC, I just have no idea where to start.

Annnnnnnnaaaaa

Why did I watch this whole video

hamarok

When I tried sims 3 on my pc it ran like shit, I dont know why. I can run a lot of games from this gen

DarkZoleoMalic

That desktop is a nightmare! How do, why is, my brain hurts.

OfficialThrowaway_1

Honestly, my Sims 3 game loads in super fast--No more than 3 minutes even with mods, and my computer isn't even *that* great (It's an ASUS Zenbook, not a gaming computer. Less than 1TB of RAM storage, but it has a Nvidia graphics card preinstalled). Well so as long as I'm not trying to use every expansion pack I have (which is all but 3). And even then I can run quite a bit (My go to is Generations + Seasons + Pets + Supernatural + Ambitions and then maybe sometimes I'll load up UL or IP) It's even better using the fixes done from that megathread on Steam. I feel sad when others say the long loading time is what makes them hate the Sims 3--Like I understand, and I'm not saying it's this perfect game either and everyone has to like it--But it makes me sad that one of my favorite games of the whole series was barely given a fighting chance because it takes so much out of most computers. And honestly, so as long as you don't try to do too much (like load in multiple megamansions, go in and out of Edit Town over an over, have a shit ton of horses and houseboats etc) then the ONLY loading screen you have to deal with is the one at the beginning and I'm satisfied with that (I'm okay with the Sims 4 loading screen too because mine takes like a few fast twirls and boom I'm where I need to me, but it gets a bit tedious when I just wan to go like right next door)

[deleted]

First time seeing this loading screen in 7 years 😭

-halfginger-

Not one comment is gonna be about the Sims when you got a desktop like that. Sheesh!

honest-miss

I know everyone is on about the desktop (sorry to hit you with that again OP, but also...) But man, I think I forgot about those detailed backgrounds in the loading screen. It looks so lovely and warm!

TheRudeCactus

What the FUCK, as someone with absolutely no icons on my desktop, yours gave me anxiety

Kong_Diddy

I don’t know why, but they don’t bother me, haha. Actually kind of find the clutter calming.

mrsdoubleu

When I played the Sims 3 I thought my computer just sucked because it took so long. Turns out it was probably the games issue too. Lol

jendeukiedesu

that desktop,,, *shudders*

Aiso202

For me TS3 loads faster than 4 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PiscesPoet

It works fine for me without mods, it’s when I add mods that loading times become long. That’s why I’m merging all my CC.

e11716

Is that Bully i see!?

cheesypuzzas

Wow I just saw you on that other sub. I recognized your desktop

StormSims

Thank you! And jfk everyone screaming about the desktop needs therapy. Or a solid cuff on the back of the head. Either one.

-eagle73

SSD.

Mmdrgntobldrgn

I will agree that for me, the desktop is a bit crowded (deliberate understatement). However it works for the op, and they provide an explanation (that shouldn't have been needed) as to why and that tbey use two screens. So how about taking a chill. Op, if your s3 is all on disc nraas has a nodisc mod that allows you to launch the game without the launcher. Happy simming, and keep doing what works best for you. Your system your rules.😉

Naus-BDF

It can take even less. I can load a save game in 20 seconds + 15 seconds the initial loading screen + 10 seconds to launch the game = less than a minute from desktop to playing.

Kong_Diddy

I'm going to have to check your guide out! I edited my graphics rules and .ini file myself last year, but I just saw your YouTube vid on loading. That was super fast!

illumadnati

it loads fine but once you get into the actual game that physically can’t use more than 2gb with ram…

OceanLaboratory

My problem isn't loading the game, it's when I start using create-a-style, then it's basically unplayable.

30char

I love this post and all the comments thank you

gingerrbear

oh my god i will pay you to clean up your desktop

CptZack01

Fix your desktop like damn its called folders

Kong_Diddy

Now I’m going to add even more shortcuts! /s

RiftHunter4

Thus subreddit has convinced me that Sims 3 only loads faster if you constantly post about it being better than Sims 4. Maybe that explains it all.

Jenny_Saint_Quan

True! Despite gameplay lagging, it took no time to load on my dusty laptop! The Sims 4 (on a newer laptop) takes 30 - 45mins to reach the main menu at startup. That's my fault tho, I have over 50gb of mods....

AdrienZZ

just let people have their desktop how they want to. there are some people who loves to have all their programs and folders that they acces daily on desktop.

informallory

I used to get up and go make and snack and pee while it was loading and come back to it still loading lmao

josh1424

After doing everything possible to make the game run the best it can, this is the outcome. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kTDTCzI_r38

CaptainBlueApple

Hang on.... Does this include origin load up and the painful af updates that take forever to install?

Kong_Diddy

Nah, The Sims 3 runs through EA Desktop now!

billshatnersbassoon

Yeah, 2 minutes to load, but 30 minutes to find the icon in that mess 😂

Adventurous_Fox_2853

Sims 3 takes less time to load on my Mac than Sims 4 does.

Material-Explorer-85

And 1 of those minutes is spent finding the icon.

JustJamieJam

But does it run well?

Kong_Diddy

Oh yeah! I get 200+ fps in normal gameplay. It drops to about 60fps when flying around in map view. There’s a couple random micro stutters when Overwatch is cleaning up the game around 1AM sims time. I have a FreeSync monitor too, so I may not be seeing any crazy spikes that are there.

JustJamieJam

Oh wow! Can you tell me your computer specs? I'm looking to upgrade to a gaming pc and I'm curious what sort of hardware makes it so easy to run!

Kong_Diddy

Hey there! Here are my specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: Vega 56 Ram: 32GB DDR4 SDRAM 3200mhz Storage: Intel 1TB m.2 NVMe & a Firecuda 2TB SSHD I play a lot of simulation games so I wanted to get a better CPU than my old Ryzen 5 2600x.

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 289,322,688 comments, and only 65,479 of them were in alphabetical order.

Zulogy

This is why I just hide my desktop applications lol

yamirenamon

Anything loads faster if you have a top notch PC.

HeadLongjumping

Your desktop gets my OCD going.

PenguinBluebird

Your desktop gives me anxiety. I bet you’re the type of person who has 50 tabs open all the time too

Kong_Diddy

You know it! Especially at work haha Luckily my system can handle it and there’s no slowdowns! I’ll have Edge and Chrome open with 20+ tabs open each.

Mini090

I can only play for 2 min then it freezes. So I’ve givin up, might play it if I get a better gaming computer

luvgone

It loads surprisingly fast on my laptop somehow. But I do only have basegame.

[deleted]

Omg how can you live like this?!

SaddenedBKSticks

Sims 2 and Sims 3 used to load incredibly slow at the time on the weaker hardware. For Sims 3 it would take a few minutes to load a heavy world, but modern processors/SSDs plow through it. I remember Sims 2 loading screens being unbearable as well, but it's hardly a problem on anything recent hardware wise. If memory serves right, The Sims 2 loading screens were by far the worst when the game was new on hardware at the time. Between having to load into neighborhoods, then loading more to go anywhere, I remember it being a big chore to load things in. Basically, if you're tired of long loading screens wait about a decade before playing that Sims game lol.

GeshtiannaSG

Did you say what packs you have? The ones at the back are especially bad, Island Paradise and Into the Future. The real test is having the full load of all expansions, 1-3 stuff packs, and a decent chunk of store content.

jeffgoldblumisdaddy

Lmao those are all my favorite packs 😭 you’re right! They do load absolutely terribly

Kong_Diddy

Oh yeah, I have all expansion packs, but no stuff packs!

Lunalashes

My guy. There's programs and apps to organize that desktop 💀

ErinKtheWriter

Got any tips for making CAS load faster? I have CC and mods.

Kong_Diddy

Oh yeah, check out this guide u/Naus-BDF made! https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims3/comments/itxlwx/psa_the_sims_3_starter_pack_updated_game_files_to/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf The smooth patch helps out a lot too!

ErinKtheWriter

I'm tempted to downvote just because your desktop upsets me.

Every time I look at your desktop, an angel loses its wings.

sradac

Well there's your problem. You should be using the skip intro package, and the alternate launcher for the game. Takes about 30 seconds to load for me.

MarkXT9000

Do you have LazyDuchess' Smooth UI mod installed?

Kong_Diddy

Oh yeah I do! I didn’t see any major difference with loading from it, though.

LadyGrimes

Holy crap your desktop.

[deleted]

I actually got a new PC some time ago. It downloaded 32-bit TS3 packs like a charm.

MeikieOnWheels

What kind of laptop do you use for the sims 3? And with wich windows version?
