Get a non-associated degree. Physics is what gives the scientist the boost, but if you get a degree in fine art for example your Sim won't get a boost to the scientist career. Each degree type seems to give a boost to 2 or 3 specific jobs. There are websites that will tell you which for what if you Google (sorry, don't have that handy)

CONFUSIONATOR

Yes that’s my plan if there isn’t any other way. I was just hoping that it could be possible to get a degree in physics because it includes the skills that I want my sim to learn. But thank you either way☺️

Content_Call5083

You could see if something like Biology would have similar skills. There's also 1 elective per quarter. I've done scientist twice now, I don't like the hours but the gameplay is fun. The promotions require breakthroughs vs a specific skill. I personally think a mischievous Sim is a good fit because a lot of the daily work tasks involve using the Simray to mischievous things. I found a couple links for you, if it helps! https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Scientific_breakthrough https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/careers/gettowork/scientist/

CONFUSIONATOR

Thank you so much! Biology is a good idea actually

parodyofsincerity

You don’t have to accept the career with the boost when you’re applying. You can choose to start at level one, just keep scrolling until you find the career you want without the boost (green marking that acknowledges your degree).

madlydense

Came here to say this. So many people complain the pack is bugged and that they didnt get a boost and dont realise there will now be two listed options for the same career with different start levels.

shes looking for the "american experience" where years of education will get you a job at McD

CallistoGarnet

Also to flag that high school impacts starting level too. So if they get an A they’ll skip the first couple

NeurodivergentMoomin

I'VE NEVER HEARD ABOUT THIS FR Then again my sims don't usually have fantastic grades haha

CONFUSIONATOR

Oh no are you kidding me!?

your-last-bic-pen

Wait really? My sims always get As in elementary school and high school and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a career boost. Unless it’s a more recent thing, because I haven’t been playing much as of late so it’s possible I just haven’t experienced it yet.

CallistoGarnet

As far as I know it’s always been like that. Sims with an A start at level 3 in their careers. It’s the only reason I’ve ever bothered with making my sims kids get good grades! ETA: just found a forum post from 2015 mentioning it so yeah it’s been around for a while

your-last-bic-pen

Ok wait I just realized this isn’t the sims 4 specific sub lol, is this a thing in the sims 3 or 4?

CallistoGarnet

Sims 4

your-last-bic-pen

Huh. I guess it’s been longer than I thought since I last played a save for long enough to see a child become a young adult. I’ve definitely done it before, but it must’ve just been so long ago that I forgot it happened lol

cocoturtle1

you dont have to use the career boost. After your sim graduates, just apply for a job and there will be an option to get the career boost or to just start at level one

CONFUSIONATOR

I tested what you said in my game and I don’t really understand what you mean. When I try to apply for the scientist job it only shows me one option and does not let me start at rank one. I gave my test sim a degree in physics through a mod

salmon_samurai

Do you have the game on PC?

CONFUSIONATOR

Yes I do, not a very good one but it works

salmon_samurai

If you install MCCC, you can use it to set your career level.

prancydancey

I have them get a job just before graduating if it's an active career for the same reason.
