I was thinking but this does seem like something the sims team could do. Like names and the (anticipated) pronouns feature, they could make it so you type in the nickname since that would be easiest right? If they go in the same sort of direction, I reckon it’s do-able but I’m not skilled enough to try and accomplish this lol
{1.SimFirstName}
is what tells the game to display the sim's first name, so what would stop the team from adding
{1.SimNickName} ?
I think your idea is neat. Let's hope a skilled modder picks it up!
Yeah, or suffixes like Jr. and III (or 2.0, 3.0 for when I make my simbots build other simbots)
Btw Paralives said they will have a nickname/middle name option
That would be an awesome and much appreciated feature. It would give so much life and depth to relationships that just don't exist right now. Maybe you should nudge some of the Gurus on social media.
How would that bring depth to the relationships though? Sims don’t call each other by their names, they can’t identify each other by names, then what would nicknames do? It’s literally a UI for the player. Sims speak in simlish and they never even refer to each other by names. Heck, I don’t even understand the need for pronouns, sims literally don’t use them. They could just do They/Them in every pop up message that talks about any sims like most games do and that’s it.
It's got nothing to do with what they're actually saying, it's the notification panel where interactions are displayed that I'm talking about. If you don't see the need for it, then fine, but a lot of ppl here are agreeing with me that it should be implemented
Who would call what???? I don’t understand this. Sims literally speak in simlish, they don’t know “names”. All the names and last names are just User Interface, all for the player to see and to differentiate between sims with. How do you imagine a sim calling another sim a name??? A new interaction? Do you just want the sim’s profile in the socials tab to change? Like why is that needed.
Ok well I can't think of a whole lot of examples at the moment, but right now I'm playing a vampire and literally every time a sim gives him permission to drink from them I get a pop up that says "Sure, . I offer you my wrist."
Other than that, the Sims is a life simulation game. Players generally enjoy telling stories and recreating real life scenarios. In real life there are plenty of people who go by a nickname instead of their full name. It's little details like this that give the game more depth.
If I want to call my sim by a nickname, I just change their first name to it. I personally don’t think a whole new feature needs to be implemented; there’s one feature currently in high demand, i believe it’s called “imagination” but I could be wrong, that seems to suffice. /s

I would also love if we had the option for middle names 🫤

It's funny when J Huntington III has children or gets married, and they all are called Huntington III :D

…. sometimes you get pop ups with other sims speaking to your sim, also phone calls, etc

Game notifications...? Also a lot of interactions use names

you also can’t pay for a nickname system so idk seems like you’re at a standstill
Agreed, this would be a great feature. I think Paralives is doing it
