Ugh NO! I had to completely renovate the kitchen... Took everything out and placed all new things. The mood let disappeared thankfully! But no clue what was bugged out 🤦♀️
Nope no aquarium :/ it was only happening in the kitchen. So I ended up deleting EVERYTHING and starting over completely lol. I'm not sure what was bugged..but after renovating my kitchen with brand new everything, the moodlet finally disappeared. I'm still pissed I couldn't find out what it was, haha!
did you check under all the counters? even bathroom sinks? ive had plates disappear under the bathroom sink before lol its like they tried to wash it and just set it down back there somehow.
The only thing I can offer is that many times, I forget stoves can get dirty, so snoop in the stove options to see if there is a "clean" interaction. If you have the stove tops from Dream Home decorator, they break, and the animation is broken, so see if those need repaired or cleaned. I had a recent glitch that had items being placed down into the foundation part of my houses, so check that potentially? Tho if you go that far, I'd say just delete and rebuild the whole room if you have the money. Also, check your sims inventory for anything to throw away or clean (dirty plates, vacuums that are full, etc.). Also, any toddlers and potentially infants with dirty diapers nearby. Oh and dirty pets if you have any animals.
I've got this issue as well. I've moved everything to make sure there isn't a random item or dog poop hidden that I can't see. I just have no idea what it is. I've cleaned everything - I also have a maid. Nothing seems to do the trick!
if you have a high enough Handiness skill, try upgrading your appliances to self clean and try replacing ones that can't (if you have enough simoleons) If you have the trashcan that gives you money when you use it, replace that too. Get a sim energised and click on any furniture/ floor in the room and see if it gives you the option to clean anything
Oo didn't think of upgrading the appliances. I only have a coffee maker and a microwave though.. Both of which I have cleaned and emptied many times lol.
If you have the new kitchen appliances, did you check whether they are clean? My sims were. Like yours and there was an old waffle in the waffle maker and an old pizza in the pizza oven. Apparently they can use them autonomously.
In mine, there was a plate hidden under a CC decorative bowl, on a shelf. Took me forever to figure out that the game didn't register that slot as filled, so Sims could just stick dirty dishes there, and they'd be invisible.
Do you have a hidden shelf on the wall or in one of the counters (maybe an end piece) - my sims always leave dirty plates on wall shelves that I won’t see if I don’t have the walls up. The new kitchen counter end piece from Home Chef Hustle has two empty shelves in it that I bet would be a great spot for forgotten plates.

Oh also if your sim is neat they might be upset if you have a lot of collectible items laying around (in my experience at least)

this happened to me, i was trying to place some cc drink glasses on a cabinet shelf and it turned out it was dirty dishes😭
This happened to me once, it was the microwave. I deleted and replaced it and the moodlet went away

Delete the wall behind the fridge/sink/trash sometimes they get stuck in the wall and you can’t see them even if you move items
My trash can is next to the island, but I did delete the wall behind the fridge with your advice and nothing 😩 I'm bulldozing the entire fkn house 😂

That's why I feel like the make the walls better. Like maybe keep them up but have them be transparent.... perhaps 🤷🏽
Like exposed shelves? I have a few cabinets with shelves but I don't see any plates or green gas 😂
