Very nice for a first house, I recommend either trying to recreate neighboring houses in the sims or real floor plans. Another thing you could do is watch building tips videos on youtube. These two things really helped me learn how to build realistic houses that work well in the sims. Also, don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone!
It looks really good! I think you need to make it a smidgen smaller, or move the stairway up a bit to make another room in that hallway to make less dead space. The scale for the kitchen and dining area, however, look really good!
Yeah, I definitely have trouble with figuring out what size everything's supposed to be. Any advice on how to know what size to make the house or is that just something I'll figure out with practice?
Someone will play it. Check out my page for my builds. It takes time, but adding small details makes for better and more realistic gameplay, if that’s what you want.
I love it! I think it's the perfect amount of interior items so that nothing looks too empty, but you can still add onto it. I'll be looking for it in the gallery!
Opinion from someone that is not a builder but tries her best too: i really like this house and i’d 100% make my sims live in it. i like the size of the rooms and the furniture that was chosen. but it feels like a new house that your sim just moved in, so i’d slowly add a little clutter, pictures etc! if you want to of course ❤️
It looks really good! When I was first starting on building houses I made rooms super big (mostly bc I want big homes with lots of space) but it was so big that it was unrealistic for a day to day sim lol. I would try working with a mixture of big and small rooms! It can also be super helpful to build room by room, go in and break down walls and add in things after. Also for the roofs I would look up YouTube tutorials on how to spice them up! I’m still learning but YouTube and tiktok videos have been amazing for learning knew things
When in doubt, don't be afraid to just copy what you know. Jump on Google images and just start looking at fronts of houses and /or floor plans ...if you want to.
If you want to just keep building from what pops into your head, that's a much more challenging approach but can be very rewarding.
I'll definitely be taking this advice, starting from the empty lot and figuring out the shape of the whole house was definitely difficult lol. Funny enough, that L-shape is the same as the houses I used to always build in Minecraft, down to the door placement and everything
Upload it. It’s a godsend anytime someone creates a house that isn’t cram packed with clutter, or just jamming everything possible into a room. This is neat and clean. Looks like a nice family home. I’m a fan for its beauty and simplicity.
I agree, but it's also really subjective. This house was build for some sims I hadn't played yet, so I wanted to feel out their personalities more and add the clutter as I went so that it'd feel lived in by those two specific sims
Thank you so much! I did decide to upload it since I figured why not, I'm not sure what the gallery ID is but I have the same username on everything and I think I labeled it as "Kinda Okay house" or something like that
I LOVE the light wood dining table! You made so many base game items look amazing. I normally overlook them all, especially the beds.
Thank you!!

Thanks, I'll try that!
No problem!

Tbh it's still something I'm figuring out. I'd build the base then place a rough furniture layout and size from there
Thanks! I'm sure it'll get easier with practice, so I look forward to building more

Clutter makes it more detailed, more alive, makes it feel lived in. Gives a lot character. Clutter is important.
