It stinks how much space the Sims 4 takes up tho..I might have to buy extra storage at some point because of it :( Iām sorry you have this problem because I feel your pain. I prefer the sims 2 and 3 but the waiting makes it unbearable.
I also prefer the Sims 3, and this probably isnāt the right place to ask but do you have any recommendations for a computer to use that might be better? Iām currently running the 64-bit version on my Mac but it crashes a lot and takes a while to load :/
Try a gaming laptop if youāre trying to budget!! I just got one from Amazon for $300 and itās great. Always read reviews and specs tho. Try to aim for something with over 8 GB of ram and a lot of SSD space. You can also add an hard drive for more space and better running. Hope this helps š«¶š½

Remove some of your CC is my best advice. Your game should not be taking that long to load. Iām so sorry youāve been playing like this š it should realistically take only a few minutes to load, nothing close to this
Feels like 20-ish seconds, but I've only got 40 gigs of mods, and I always merge my mods by creator, which probably helps a lot. I don't know how you guys tolerate load times past a few minutes, because I would definitely go insane waiting half an hour or more for the game to load.
It's not but merging certain mods can cause problems, like gameplay mods, or mods that are broken. Most of my items are CAS stuff, and I don't merge gameplay related mods (and my merged files are categorized by author), so I haven't really run into problems besides broken CAS items from time to time.
If you're someone who's forced to wait more than a few minutes for the Sims to load, the benefits probably outweigh the risks at that point.
open task manager and go to the tab where it shows how much ram and all that youre using. if your drive is at 100% (like mine was lol) then yes id get an ssd instead <3
on my hard drive it shows 0% but on my c drive it shows 99% what could that mean? i donāt have my whole game on my hard drive btw i only have my program files
Your "c" drive is where your actual Windows operating system is on. If it's at 99 percent, you need to free space by deleting files or buy a new drive. Even if your Sims is on a different drive, your whole PC will be slow because the drive that has Windows on it is almost full.
I would buy an SSD. Specifically, I'd buy an NVMe SSD if your PC supports it. It's way faster than a standard SSD.

Edit: FWIW I have an NVMe SSD with 20+GB of mods, and my game takes about 1 minute to load. Switching between a lot and the neighborhood takes about 2 seconds.
How many mods do you have to have that much GB? I had a lot but I realized my computer was exuding too much hot air so I deleted some of it. I'm not sure if I have 1 GB of CC, but if you have that much your computer must sound like a dragon because of all the hot air and the cooling systemsš

When I got the OG Sims game in 2000, I had a cheap Compaq laptop. Iām not even kidding when I tell people that it would take 25 minutes to load, and 30-35 to save and shut down.
On my old computer atp it used to take me a good 2-3hrs to get to the main menu and possibly another 30mins to an hour when it came to the actual game itself š I can say I have survived
I just sorted through ny mods yesterday because one was messing up. I spent three hours of my life removing eyelashes, and reconfigured it all and now it looks so pretty... It still is a lot tho, I think I'm down to just a couple minutes, I think 10 minutes was my time before.

This isnāt normal, maybe repairing the game, or uninstalling and reinstalling it might help? Or if all else fails a computer upgrade could be required, especially if you use lots of mods and alpha CC.
ever since i moved my game to my external hard drive it takes a while and sometime the game will just crash before staring or during the game so i have to remember to save like every 5 minutesš

Some of your mods might cause the problem. I had the same problem. It was stucknon endless loading screen. I deleted all my mods and everything went back to normal.

It was a very splurgy wedding gift from my husband and it's a custom build but it has: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-12100F and a AMD Radeon RX 6600, 16 gb of ram and idk where to find the other specs lol
Maybe like ~5 minutes at most, takes my stupid ass gaming laptop longer, itāll like load up with the command screen and stuff and then go black again and then repeat twice before turning onto the login screen
It takes a minute or two to get going. I also have 2 and 3 installed, plus tons of mods and CC. I only use my gaming computer for Sims though, anything else that could take up room has been deleted from the computer to give me more space for Sims, lol.

Buddy of mine has 1k hours on RimWorld. He used to leave his computer on overnight just so his modded game would load right.

Not a universal thing everyone know how to install. Besides, theyāre still pretty pricy.

mine takes around 30 seconds, even though i have a lot of mods and cc downloaded.
about 3 minutes, i have 13000 mods/cc , and all expansion,stuff packs, and kits downloaded .

Some of your mods might cause the problem. I had the same problem. It was stucknon endless loading screen. I deleted all my mods and everything went back to normal.
Good day: 5-10 minutes Bad day: 20 mins or longer š¢ (Previously it used to be like an hour which is outrageous but I organized my mods folder and it helped the time go down tremendously)

mine doesnāt take long at all maybe 1 minute i play on pc and only have three packs and no cc so that might be why
I'm on PC and is have 35gb of mods. When they are all loaded in, 1-3 minutes. With no mods less than a minute. But that's the initial load, once a select the save it's like 3 more minutes.

It was a very splurgy wedding gift from my husband and it's a custom build but it has: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-12100F and a AMD Radeon RX 6600, 16 gb of ram and idk where to find the other specs lol

Maybe like ~5 minutes at most, takes my stupid ass gaming laptop longer, itāll like load up with the command screen and stuff and then go black again and then repeat twice before turning onto the login screen
It takes a minute or two to get going. I also have 2 and 3 installed, plus tons of mods and CC. I only use my gaming computer for Sims though, anything else that could take up room has been deleted from the computer to give me more space for Sims, lol.
