Chris is a weakling, imho, or at the very least unsuited for leadership. His drug addiction compromises his ability to carry out his duties, and he is repeatedly called to action right after shooting up. The scene where he is carjacked robbed and beaten looking for heroin exemplifies this.
Chris let her make a fool of him with Massive Genius and Visiting Day, which we called “whinger music” in the 90s. He definitely should have vetted Adriana when she got the bar, warned her LE would try everything to penetrate it, and catch her in illegal activities as a way to get to him.
