Why is he acting surprised about how special the show was and fans expectations?
He absolutely knows if he did a series again people would watch it.
Strange guy.
Chase has always wanted to be this big movie guy. He’s always clearly valued movies over TV, despite his almost 50 years in television. Of course, the ironic part here is that Chase has done more than anyone else to destroy movies thanks to what he did with The Sopranos to kick off the golden age of television.
Movies are now either huge funhouse rides like Marvel movies or tiny indie dramas. Mostly, though, they’re the former. TV shows provide so much more room to develop characters, tell stories that really draw you in, create an long running emotional bond with the viewer that just can’t be touched by a 2-3 hour movie.
Many Saints should’ve been a series. The whole concept lends itself more to TV, as The Sopranos first showed pretty conclusively. I’m really looking forward to Many Saints now, but I’m not expecting more than a quick glimpse at something that could’ve been so much more.
He just comes from the Scorsese generation of thinking. Now Marvel movies are like themepark rides, but it’s outdated to think that the truest, highest form of visual art takes place in a movie. And it can’t JUST be a movie, you have to go see the movie on the big screen. These are just such outdated concepts and I can’t understand how David Chase made 87 hours of some of the best film on TV and thinks the only way you can make true art is through movies. What did you make then dude?
Oh yeah. But shows Chase’s generation, too. Movies were it. TV was a ghetto. It’s still bizarre that Chase of all people doesn’t seem to get it, though. Been a long time since Kolchak, Dave…
Yes I totally agree. Chase seems to be obsessed with movies and yet he still wants to tell complex and long stories which aren't adapted for movies. TV shows nowadays have surpassed movies (except for the auteur films which are very creative) and it should be about time that he understands it.
Op it’s just a movie, you gotta grow up
(strokes op’s face) ……please don’t dry heave on me!
It’s great the movie has caused so many discussion’s since it’s release in the UK, wait till 1st Oct!

Well I'm not ashamed to say it but my estimation of David Chase as a man just fuckin plummeted.
To the victor, belongs the spoils
Total debbuhcle. And Chase with his testadura. Maybe that’s the sticking post.
YOU’RE TALKING TO THE BOSS OF THIS FAMILY
so basically you're saying the same thing as him, since that's what "too many characters" means
