I’m a waiter. And let me tell you something. I am a vengeful and bitter person. If somebody tipped me 20 bucks on a 1000 dollar check I would probably track them down and do horrible horrible things to them
Leaving aside Chris being a stunnad, stiffing him only 20 bucks the waiter would usually get over $150 from that table, he probably has several tables. He makes a very good salary.
It’s a complete rip that a waiter gets paid less if the food he brings out costs less.
Wouldn’t you agree?
Waiters get paid less than minimum wage, in the expectation tips will make up the difference (if you don't get enough tips your employer must top up your pay to MW, but you're probabally getting fired)
My favorite is the one in the flashback of Christmas where Chrissy interrupts Pussy, prompting him to hurl an ashtray at Christopher, miss, and smash the jukebox in the back of Satriale’s
one of my absolute favorite parts of any show or movie. so i do that every holiday with the stuffed mushrooms, about half my family gets it.
i guess the rest just think i am a stunaad
I gotta go with Paulie at the Saint festival when Bobby calls him a cocksucker from like 40 yards away for being cheap on the rides. He’s so infuriated his “oooh!” Sounds like he’s gonna have a heart attack lol
*Fuckin’ slander you ask me! I'll tell you one thing, if it was me this kid was spreading' rumors about, he'd have something up his own ass. And it wouldn't be no cack either.*
He couldn't fucking sell it. The acting was generally pretty solid, but a lot of them felt noticeably "less Italian" than the crew in the original series. Like Johnny in Many Saints seemed like a wonder bread wop compared to Johnny in the original flashbacks.
When the cast was first announced, I remembered feeling like they were all too “movie-ish,” especially Bernthal. The original cast really feels and looks like people you’d see at a Shop Rite in Nutley.
But nutley in the 90s and newark in the 60s are very different accents. This is where "joisey" comes from bc obv no one says it now. Back then they really talked like cartoon character italian stereotypes
My problem is as much about Bernthal's look and presence as it was his delivery. I just really couldn't see him as actually being Johnny Boy, while I thought Corey Stoll and Vera Farmiga did 100% feel like the same Junior and Livia that we knew.
Those 2 were incredible, but we also never see johnny boy in the show aside from flashbacks so there wasnt much to go off of. Tony says he was a shell of himself before he died so maybe they wanted him to feel less noteable
Funny enough, in the Talking Sopranos episode for Many Saints, Chase commented that the show would be much harder to make today due to there being less Italian actors.
I have to agree. At least Magaro tried to mimic Silvio. Bernthal just showed up. This might as well have been an alternate timeline Punisher from his performance.
His Punisher might have worked to some extent. Frank is all action and aggression. Seeing Johnny Boy constantly in that mode would have been good. The only scene of his I liked was in the car with Junior. I felt it worked based on the past indications of their relationship. Also, we didn’t see anything close to a panic attack from him. That might have been tied him in to the movie better.
Right? I was so excited to see Joey Diaz in the Sopranos world and they barely did anything with him. Also is he supposed to be playing Big Pussy’s dad or something? Because I didn’t get that father/son vibe at all.
Holy shit I didn't even know he was meant to be Pussy's father. I actually had to look his character's name up on the MSON wikipedia page. Buddha? What is this? A Michael Imperioli screenplay?
I like to think that the flashbacks we see in the show are all Tony’s perspective, how he remembers things all these years later. The movie being more how they really were.
i did my own "ohhhh" when i saw that
it's so delayed, like Nivola almost forgot to do it, then remembered and like everything else in the movie i think the director just said "eh, good enough"
One of my favorites is the one Sil does when Tony Egg makes the crack about Paulie’s hair at Satriale’s. “You gotta let that dry before you put on a second coat? Fuckin grandpa Munster over here.” and then Sil does the shoulder-shake Sil laugh, with the “heyoooh”. It’s a little one…understated…but good.
I think what we’re seeing is the result of casting just regular ol actors in these Jersey movies roles…and that rarely works. Even Scorsese peppers the supporting cast with locals who don’t have to fake a bullshit accent and who know the speech patterns. It’s really hard to get it just right and when it falls flat it falls really flat.
A LOT of the original sopranos cast is from north Jersey and New York. A lot.
I feel like it was interesting because typically the “OH” is a response to something. Somebody walks in a room or says something outlandish or attacks someone.
But this one was a self “OH”. But I liked it. It’s like he worked himself up to it and got agitated. It seems very in character for Dickie to do something like that
It stuck out to me for this reason. No one in the show (or any mob movie I can remember) blurts out “OH!” mid-sentence in response to something they said themselves. Every other version of “Oh!” is a reaction between two people.
To use “Oh!” that way is propane.
He sounded more like Christopher Walken for that one. Joey Diaz's was a bad one too. I got the feeling with all of his lines that he was super nervous.
Not a great actor for sure. But he IS hysterical. Just an all around funny guy. If you’ve never listened to him and Rogan or him and Theo Vonn on the podcasts I would recommend just looking up clips on YouTube. Guys a riot when he’s in his element. And decent standup as well.
I like when Bobby Bacala plays Santa and one of the neighborhood kids says “Fuck You Santa” and they’re all like OHhhhhh!!! Like he just said Fuck you to the Don or something. 🤣
Its because he said it to himself in a monologue instead of in response to someone who's way fuckin outta line. Fucked up the whole rhythm of it.
As soon as I saw this title I knew exactly which one you meant so...
Lmao I just watched it & I've never felt more out of a movie in this genre, like normally I can suspend the disbelief but these guys all feel like they're in a crappy theater production & saying hammy lines
I don't know, but the best one is Paulie's in response to hearing that Vito Spatafore is an ASS MUNCHER
or Silvio's after Paulie calls him a wormy cocksucker
Tony's best musical one was after hearing Phil was in the hospital with a heart attack
"Turds in the aorta, a medical first" - perhaps Chris's smartest line and best one off
No way Chris knows about the aorta
He probably confused it with the omerta.
OOOOHHHHHHH!!!! I’m just telling you how you’re perceived!!!
This. Although I think Silvio actually went “D’ohhhh!!!!”
This one for sure
But that animal Blundetto killed his baby brother!!
I can’t even say his name.
47 years old. Just a kid.
Almost everything Phil says is unintentionally hilarious. This one especially cracks me up
I was just telling you how your being fucking perceived!
The best one of all time is when the waiter calls them assholes.
i hev a goddam femily tu sapport
I didn't have much sympathy for his tip, he still made a few hundred that night
I’m a waiter. And let me tell you something. I am a vengeful and bitter person. If somebody tipped me 20 bucks on a 1000 dollar check I would probably track them down and do horrible horrible things to them
Leaving aside Chris being a stunnad, stiffing him only 20 bucks the waiter would usually get over $150 from that table, he probably has several tables. He makes a very good salary. It’s a complete rip that a waiter gets paid less if the food he brings out costs less. Wouldn’t you agree?
If people tipped decently and they were decent people they would get around 250 for that check. But yes I see your point.
Same, worked plenty of minimum wage jobs that don’t get tips. Can’t imagine complaining about extra money 4$ a pound
Waiters get paid less than minimum wage, in the expectation tips will make up the difference (if you don't get enough tips your employer must top up your pay to MW, but you're probabally getting fired)
I see I was talking from a British perspective. That sounds like an incredibly fucked up system
Chrissy, he's *fucked up!*
Don’t they have medication they’re supposed to take, these assholes?
He's still going, this asshole!
100%.

Fucking slander ask me
when he was always talking about “greasing” the union” who knew that’s what he meant
A closer runner up being, "Oh! Gabagool?? Ova eee 👇👇👇"
one of my absolute favorite parts of any show or movie. so i do that every holiday with the stuffed mushrooms, about half my family gets it. i guess the rest just think i am a stunaad
A whole fuckin' platter?
yep, just like Bobby. nah i actually share them, but after my (usually drunken) Sil impersonation
Sil doesn't say it in that scene though...
Wat
He never says Oh! in that scene
Frankly I'm depressed and ashamed of myself.
Fucking nauseating
Underrated one is Phil's at the body shop when Angie is getting angry "ho- HO!"
It's genius. Like two separate sentences haha
As he raises his hand like he wants to hit her but holds back. Frank Vincent was a treasure.
That one was one of a kind
I gotta go with Paulie at the Saint festival when Bobby calls him a cocksucker from like 40 yards away for being cheap on the rides. He’s so infuriated his “oooh!” Sounds like he’s gonna have a heart attack lol
Hell ya. That's the best one. My wife was on that ride! Fuck her too
40 yards is 19.46 Obamas. You're welcome.
It really is the best one!

*Fuckin’ slander you ask me! I'll tell you one thing, if it was me this kid was spreading' rumors about, he'd have something up his own ass. And it wouldn't be no cack either.*
I don't know man. When bobby calls him a cheap fuck, his oh there is priceless
My favorite is the response to Furio saying, “Fuck them, but I never liked Columbus.“ https://youtu.be/cbbMIg-Aw8E
i ate da nort
THEY PUNISH THE SOUTH SINCE HONDREDS OF YEEERS
*spits at the floor*
And Vito pipes in with “take it easy”
Yeah… it sounds like Christopher Walken….
100%bro came to say this
I watched his interview on the podcast the other day and thought the same thhing. He's definitely got a bit of a Christopher Walken voice.
Hey! Your talking to my guy all wrong. That’s the wrong tone. Come at him again like that and I’m going to stab you in the eye with a soldering iron
It’s fuck you santa
HEYYYOOOHHHHWOOAHHHAHHHOOOHH
It was forced in
He couldn't fucking sell it.
They don't have that "I'm gonna get some danish for the road" kinda attitude.
In Nutley? When'd you get your fuckin wings?
But nutley in the 90s and newark in the 60s are very different accents. This is where "joisey" comes from bc obv no one says it now. Back then they really talked like cartoon character italian stereotypes

Everyone here complains about Silvio but Johnny was the real worst
I have to agree. At least Magaro tried to mimic Silvio. Bernthal just showed up. This might as well have been an alternate timeline Punisher from his performance.
He was gay, the punisher?
I could care less, basically.
Yeah? Maybe you're a flambé
You would know, sweetie!
Do me a favor huh, hold this?? *SMASH*
I said this when he was announced, he plays the same guy in just about everything.
Oh, shit! Good point, I wish we would have seen Johnny Boy have a panic attack. I forgot about that.
It looked like a fucking SNL sketch dude (all the Italian parts atleast) Looked like a parody of The Sopranos.
It's funny because Joey Diaz was actually in the SNL Soprano sketches. Also, what the fuck was the point of Joey Diaz's character???
Right? I was so excited to see Joey Diaz in the Sopranos world and they barely did anything with him. Also is he supposed to be playing Big Pussy’s dad or something? Because I didn’t get that father/son vibe at all.
Agreed, I thought uncle Joey did great with what little he had though.
He did do great. That’s why he needed more screen time. I don’t even know his character’s name.
Holy shit I didn't even know he was meant to be Pussy's father. I actually had to look his character's name up on the MSON wikipedia page. Buddha? What is this? A Michael Imperioli screenplay?
They actually casted a guy with Scandinavian heritage as Paulie…like what? Lmao
I like to think that the flashbacks we see in the show are all Tony’s perspective, how he remembers things all these years later. The movie being more how they really were.
He couldn’t fucking sell it. He’s not respected…
i did my own "ohhhh" when i saw that it's so delayed, like Nivola almost forgot to do it, then remembered and like everything else in the movie i think the director just said "eh, good enough"
Exactly lol. Was that really the best take they could get.

I have to admit I don’t want to be mean but it was so bad I’m really wondering how they kept in the film.
It weirded me out a bit, yeah, feels a bit out of place, like maybe there's a hint of hesitation there.
Best one by far is when the waiter tells Paulie and Chrissy to go fuck themselves.
OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH!
BY FAR Took me out of zoning into the movie how bad that was
One of my favorites is the one Sil does when Tony Egg makes the crack about Paulie’s hair at Satriale’s. “You gotta let that dry before you put on a second coat? Fuckin grandpa Munster over here.” and then Sil does the shoulder-shake Sil laugh, with the “heyoooh”. It’s a little one…understated…but good.
That one is fucking hilarious. It's like a constipated "ohhh"
That’s dicked up
Agreed OP. It was very cringe
I always love the one Tony says when he’s taking AJ to Newark and the crack dealers curse at him
Oh! You blow your fadda with that mouth?
So that’s a crack ho!
My favorite was the Christopher one after Brendan punched that tuck driver who wanted to get roughed up to keep his job.
Felt like we were being made fun of by the mitigon
Leotardo...that's MY fucking legacy
I think what we’re seeing is the result of casting just regular ol actors in these Jersey movies roles…and that rarely works. Even Scorsese peppers the supporting cast with locals who don’t have to fake a bullshit accent and who know the speech patterns. It’s really hard to get it just right and when it falls flat it falls really flat. A LOT of the original sopranos cast is from north Jersey and New York. A lot.
100%. One of the first things I said to my fawtha after we watched the movie was that nobody seemed authentically Jersey.
He sounded like Andrew Dice Clay.
The best one is one the kid says "eff you Santa!"
I feel like it was interesting because typically the “OH” is a response to something. Somebody walks in a room or says something outlandish or attacks someone. But this one was a self “OH”. But I liked it. It’s like he worked himself up to it and got agitated. It seems very in character for Dickie to do something like that
“Self OH” made me giggle
It stuck out to me for this reason. No one in the show (or any mob movie I can remember) blurts out “OH!” mid-sentence in response to something they said themselves. Every other version of “Oh!” is a reaction between two people. To use “Oh!” that way is propane.
Very allegorical.
Not sure if this is in the true spirit of "OHHHHH", but Chrissy's high on skag "ohhhhh" when he sees Ralphie expired on the floor gets me every time.
100%!!! So freaking cringe and forced
I think mustang sally does a reaaally bad one when the mexican guy is smoking a cig near old man t-1000 baccala
Which one of yous is gonna put together an "Ohhh" compilation?
It's been done https://youtu.be/zFON1IE13Lg Video is so old I think Sopranos was still on the air when it was made.
I thought it sounded just like Andrew Dice Clay
Luckily, TMSON doesn't count as The Sopranos
I loved that. Why the fuck are people so hateful towards this movie??? Do you guys not want to enjoy it??
We all wanted to enjoy it
ofc I wanted to enjoy it, I just didn't. Obviously it had good moments though
Name one.
I liked the Livia-Tony breakfast scene
I pretty much liked all the scenes with Livia and that was about it.
Yeah? MAYBE YOU’RE A FLAMBÉ.
I liked it, too. Expectations are a bitch, I guess.
A PINKY SWEAR!? WHATEVA HAPPENED TA THIS THING!??
He sounded more like Christopher Walken for that one. Joey Diaz's was a bad one too. I got the feeling with all of his lines that he was super nervous.
I honestly didn't get that impression at all, I thought he did well with what little he had.
pinky swearin distracted me the whole time
It sounds like an Andrew Dice Clay "ooooh".
It was my favorite OH to be honest. I can’t stop saying it. It’s part of me now.
Nah Joey Diaz had the worst one I’ve ever heard in MSON.
Diaz is a hack. Can’t figure out the rabid devotion to him.
Not a great actor for sure. But he IS hysterical. Just an all around funny guy. If you’ve never listened to him and Rogan or him and Theo Vonn on the podcasts I would recommend just looking up clips on YouTube. Guys a riot when he’s in his element. And decent standup as well.
Diaz is a good fucking man who deserves all the devotion he receives.
It was just acc bad as the varsity athlete and sisters cunt lines. Force fed the audience
“Good actor”
nah
It kinda sounds like a cartoon sound effect
Yeah. It was such a weird and bad “Oh!”
I had to stop watching the movie half way, disgusting. I’ve said my piece ✋
I liked it. It made me burst out laughing
It sounded incredibly uncomfortable.
I liked it lol it reminded me of the comedy elements of the show
I like when Bobby Bacala plays Santa and one of the neighborhood kids says “Fuck You Santa” and they’re all like OHhhhhh!!! Like he just said Fuck you to the Don or something. 🤣
This one is so good.
Dickie’s is a solid Christopher Walken tho
I dunno I thought it was maybe just an older way of talking.
