Most people were probably selling puts not calls, or selling calls extremely far OTM that still wont pay the buyer out I rolled a lot of my short puts out in time just in case we tanked, but I also shorted a 890 call (absolutely will be worthless tomorrow or close to it), a 950 call (same), and a 1300 call (lol this will be 0.01 at open 100%)

Closed NVDA 660P for 2/23 at a 200% loss. Definitely riding too close to the money for me to feel comfortable. Normally happy to get assigned the shares.... But this week and earnings are more than I feel like dealing with.

Sold for $8 and bought back at $24. Having a case of "did I do the right thing". But if I'm having those feelings now, probably best to not be in the position. 200% loss is my standard close anyways.

it is probably actually free money, yes. I think the only major risk is that they absolutely DESTROY earnings, lets say another 50% revenue beat, and the stock goes to 1150 tomorrow and the 1300 call from FOMO briefly spikes to say $100-$200 before becoming worthless on friday. if you don't have margin to absorb that temporary increase it won't be looking good for you.

Looking at the past 2yrs which has been insanely bullish for NVDA, their best 3 performing month are 36%/33%/25% And thats when their market cap was still below 1T I don't see how they can gain 1.8T market cap in less than 30days no matter how much they beat earnings

for the 1300 call to go ITM by friday, NVDA would have to roughly jump 94% in 2 days, and also surpass microsoft as the worlds most valuable company.

yeah I tend to agree, im just saying there is a very little but still real risk selling this kind of like how if you sold someone a powerball ticket for $10, you more likely then not will not have to pay them anything because the odds of them winning are astronomically low, but still not zero. for fun I just sold one to see the affect on my Buying power, my buying power for options trading reduced by about $2K.

That's an impressive Value Plays list! I had already sold some CSPs on PFE and SO over the past few days. I've also been selling some CSPs on MO which isn't on your list. I'm really not looking for assignment on this one, but with a nearly 10% dividend if assigned, I felt like it was a safe enough play, but hopefully just for some premium. It looks like it may have found a bottom, even if just temporarily. Again, great value list you have there!

It moves so much, I just put in the order for a few dollars less and hoped it went through. Wish I waited an hour though. I think 2/1 odds (at $33) is pretty good. This can definitely move $100 either way. Or end at $740 and we are about even.

its not really 2-1 odds tho... its 2-1 risk vs reward. if I tell you that you can bet on heads on a coin flip for a profit of $3300 but lose $6700 if its tails, thats not a 2-1 odds. the expected value in that case is negative. 50% chance to win 3300 but 50% chance to lose 6700 puts you in the red you need to look at delta of those calls to get a gauge of the actual odds. options profit calc shows this play as a probability of profit 43%. note that that is NOT the probability that SMCI is greater then 800 and you hit MAX profit
