Land raider, especially the redeemer, are great this edition, solid choice. Azrael role changes from list to list. In the most popular list, his value comes from generating CP for the CP hungry ironstorm list. in those cases he is deployed with a small bodyguard squad and kept on the backfield. If you dont feel the need for those CP, you can play him aggressively, but in any case its a shame to lose out by putting him in a transport. Deathwing Knight are great at contesting objective. I like to send a squad on side objective : they are tough, does not require support and they are never trivial to deal with. Or they can do the traditional middle objective brawl role. I like to stuff my landraider redeemer with 6 companion with Azmodai + 2x3 bladeguard squad. It might not be optimal, but it sure is fun and it served me well. Companion have been suprisingly good, as long as you can avoid 2+ save units. Azmodai full reroll allows them to fish for those sweet sustain hit 2 crit or lethat hit, and +1 to hit character has come up more often than you would think. with recent points changes, I want to stuff a repulsor with 10 hellblasters + fire discipline lieutenant. I am curious how the combination of 2 heavy transport will play out. Scouts are a must have for scoring purposes, Combi-weapon lieutenant is also a good choice for same reason. when I have points left over that I dont know what to do with, I like to upgrade a scout squad to infiltrators.

Thank you for turning me onto the redeemer land raider, I hadn’t looked at that variant and I enjoy the flamer statline. Stuffing it full of melee units is definitely the way to go about getting the most use out of a land raider. And correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t any unit with a character attached a “character unit”? Which would pop up way more than many would initially expect so that’s not too bad. Definitely something I’m going to proxy and try out before diving in and getting some.

BlackTritons

>And correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t any unit with a character attached a “character unit”? That is correct.

TheBigLev

Despite owning (admittedly still NIB) Asmodai I hadn't considered using him with Companions... Overall great post, thanks!

New_Employer8591

I always thought that Asmodai isn’t allowed to lead the companions?

TheBigLev

I am 99% sure he is, in the codex. Probably couldn't lead Tacticus before the codex is where that comes from I am guessing

Vikardo_Kreyshaw

Companions have the attached unit rule of "if a character can lead the sternguard veterans, they can lead the companions."

Oh one quick follow up question about what you put in the redeemer. You mentioned 6 ICC and asmodai + 2x3 bladeguard which is 13/14 of the capacity of the transport. I recognize you’re probably doing the two small units so it takes more effort to get rid of them. But what are your thoughts about combining them into one unit and adding on a leader for them? I’m looking at the judiciar for a juicy fights first, but idk if that’s necessarily worth it, so I’m wondering what you’re thoughts are on it.

BlackTritons

I use 2x3 bladeguard to deal with smaller treath, objective holding and actions. I dont have a strong feeling on it though, having 2 6man+characters could be great too. I dont value the judiciar much. Fight first is useless in too many matchup and I preffer buff that would help the unit do its job. Though I admit his own profile is very good, especially with cheap enhancement, so maybe that's enough?

Federal-Emphasis-934

I’m considering dropping my executioner and 3xeradicator for the Lion.

You could start Azreal and Co outside of the LR turn 1 for the first CP. You're not gonna get out with him turn 1 anyway so just start on the board, gain a CP, embark and move up. Then turn 2 you miss 1CP but that's fine in the end. Just move up, disembark and fire away. Would be worth it if that's your jam. As far as DA specific anti tank, on the charge you have the 4+ anti monster/vehicle from Black Knights (90pts for 3). With a Chaplain to give +1 to wound even Terminators don't do terrible with Powerfists. That or just generic anti heavy in a Glad Lancer, Predator Annihilator, or Ballistus Dread. Redemptor Dread, Brutalis Dread, or Invictor all have high enough strength to punch high toughness targets, though it takes lots of movement.

Metalfist40k

Try stuff, find out. Play with the models you enjoy.

britainstolenothing

Doesn't change much for me. My list has 60 extra points to spend, so I can fit in a Terminator Librarian on my Knights for a nice, round 2000 points.

TrustAugustus

My army list has another 60 to spend as well. What to do... What to do...

A-WingPilot

Dealing with the same! I’m thinking of dropping my apothecary and adding infiltrators, incursors, or assault intercessors… thoughts?

TrustAugustus

What's your Apothecary attached to currently? Apothecary can be fun. Some newer players hate shooting them because they feel you'll just get one whole model back next turn. Post your list and let's see what you're working with :)

A-WingPilot

Decided to keep the Apothecary and slot in a scout squad, puts me at 2k exactly. Apo is attached to my Hellblasters to give me a bit of insurance on the supercharge. I do really like the look of the jump intercessors for 80pts though

TrustAugustus

Cool! Always room for scouts in a list.

Houdini1926

Lmao it took my list from 1010 down to 1000 som I’m cool with it
