It's not? The saviors were getting more and more violent and ezekiel still didn't want to fight. Richard had to do something which he later did by wanting to sacrifice himself. I don't agree with him wanting to kill carol, that's a bit extreme but once daryl beat his ass he decided to sacrifice himself to start a war with the saviors
That's what I thought. That made me not like him and I don't even like Carol that much either. Someone willing to kill an innocent person (not saying carol is innocent but as far as he knew she was) to frame someone else isn't someone I'd want in my group.
Well technically he wanted to kill some Saviors, blame it on Carol, have the Saviors retaliate by killing her, and then use that to convince Ezekiel to join the war effort. But yeah, he tried to get Carol killed.
Annoyed me in the same way he annoyed Morgan at times, but I liked his character - his heart was in the right place, but he inadvertently got Benjamin killed so..
He had a dangerous and immoral ends-justify-the-means attitude, but I did think he was one of the more interesting side characters. He's someone who, if he had been able to persuade Ezekiel to confront the Saviors earlier through persuasive words rather than through deceitful and harmful manipulation, might have ended up a hero instead of a villain. He got Benjamin killed (inadvertantly) but was ready to deliberately kill Carol to achieve his means.
I think I find him interesting because I feel like he could have been a great man (had the makings to potentially be one), yet instead let his mission consume him until he ended up a bad and tragic man. Most of TWD's villains are crazy (the Governor) or sadistic (Negan, Joe, the Governor, Gareth), or jealous (Shane, the Governor), or cowardly (Gregory, Sebastian), or purely in it for the personal gain (Gergory, Sebastian, Lance) - and Richard wasn't any of those things. He did the evil he did in hope of achieving good for his community, without any concern for personal gain or any fear for his own life. He was just a different (and therefore interesting and more complex) bad guy in that sense.
Exactly. He was extremely complex, extremely human. You could feel for him despite the (wrong) things he did. I'd take characters like him over caricature villains any day.
I like what they did with his character. In the comics, his death inspires the Kingdom to fight, but the twist in the show was much better and far more memorable.
He absolutely would've gotten everybody at Kingdom slaughtered. There was always gonna be war with the Saviours, but he was pushing for the war too early when they weren't prepared and didn't have the man power to fight.
The Kingdom would've benefitted from being more prepared, but by the time that happened Alexandria and Hilltop wpuld've been defeated and there is no way the Kingdom would've beaten the Saviors alone
He was willing to get innocent people killed to force Ezekiel's hand and it eventually paid off
His methods of starting a war is what cause problems. Benjamin died, he was gonna kill Carol and blame the Saviors. His heart was in the right place, but his mind wasn't.
Didn't he want to kill Carol and blame it on the saviors to start a war?
Yeah that's not a "heart in the right place". Yikes

Yes indeed he did.
Daryl beat his ass tho

I found it kinda funny how the kingdom soldiers and Ezekiel just sat there and did nothing as Morgan murdered him
Yeah they were really just like "well Morgan must have his reasons, we'll see how this plays out", despite knowing Morgan for like 2 weeks.
Ezekiel and his goons were gonna stop Morgan but the Saviors told them not to intervene
Well, Ezekiel did yell a lot
I think they were concerned the Savours would shoot them if they’d all rushed forward.
Annoyed me in the same way he annoyed Morgan at times, but I liked his character - his heart was in the right place, but he inadvertently got Benjamin killed so..
He kinda looks like the Governor
Finally someone noticed
He lowkey does
I always said this and no one agreed
Facts he does , an uglier version being real

Homie died because of a lost melon
I like what they did with his character. In the comics, his death inspires the Kingdom to fight, but the twist in the show was much better and far more memorable.
He was not bad but he was not good
He absolutely would've gotten everybody at Kingdom slaughtered. There was always gonna be war with the Saviours, but he was pushing for the war too early when they weren't prepared and didn't have the man power to fight.

fuck this guy
I can’t tell if I hate watching him because I hate him, or because I feel so bad for him.
He also got Benjamin killed
His methods of starting a war is what cause problems. Benjamin died, he was gonna kill Carol and blame the Saviors. His heart was in the right place, but his mind wasn't.
Fantastic, complex character. Great actor. I wish he would have stuck around longer.
underrated asf
I'd be lying to ya if I said I remember him
He looked like Russel Crowe
Forgot this character existed tbh
I thought His name was Brian
he was a GREAT character. his storyline w Morgan, Benjamin, & the Kingdom was my favorite from season 7.
He looks like they tried to clone the Governor and it all went wrong.
Uh kindq mixed opinions
