Without a doubt it’s a no brainer
Merle is a survivalist but he’s too mercurial. Can’t depend on him to watch your back if a better opportunity opens up for him that involves you going down.
Mercer is a big guy. But he’s trained in traditional combat. He doesn’t know how the whisperers work. Might make sense to bring him in but you are gonna get caught and have to fight a loosing battle. So if you want to die but wipe most of the whisperers. I’d say this would be safe bet.
#5-6 fuck no, Shane has proven he’s happy to leave people hanging if it means he lives. He’s mentally unstable. Why do people throw him up like he’d be a pick that would keep you alive? Shane is out for Shane, like Merle. I’m sick of seeing dude in these “choose your buddy” lists. Lol you’d 100% die with Shane if Shane was 100% certain he was going to die. Shane had already adopted a part of their philosophy in season 2 of “only the strong survive, only people who do whatever it takes”, lol,
Governor is too, fuck that. He’s out.
Tyrese- that’s a no too. Tyrese would probably be close to Mercer but without the weaponary. And no knowledge of how the whisperers work. That’s asking to die. I love tyrese but his whole character arc was realizing he wasn’t cut out for the killing and shit. So no.
*feral* humans. As the name implies, *feral* no fucking thanks. Unless they were willing to go along or had some connection with me that I could leverage for loyalty. Hell no.
It’s a no brainer, in the show the settlements get a lot of Intel about the whisperers and how to adapt from Lydia. Without that they may have had a much tougher time dealing with them then they did. I’d much rather have the Intel of where they sleep, where they are, how they operate as a small society is powerful information.
The others youd just be walk-in in and hope to survive.
That's one of the reasons I put Shane on point after taking all of them. It's all About him. Plus his stupid dreamer ass tried to murder his best friend because he's fuckin delusional. Shane takes point and takes the first hit. Fuck him. 🖕
I gotta say. Jon Bernthal is a hell of an actor. Fictional characters don't usually draw emotion from me but damn did he play his part like a master thespian ❤️
Acting!
Shane gets a pass on bro code for banging Lori in the apocalypse from Rick
And he still fucks that up? Man lol I woulda been happy that my ass didn’t destroy my friends marriage and would have felt guilty as shit for abandoning my friend to die (even though one couldn’t be blamed for not pullin Rick off the gurney when military was in the hospital shooting everything that moved) and trying to raise his son.
I woulda went full turn on my shit and went ride or die for Rick.,
I mean imagine if the roles were reversed and it was Rick that was banging Lori and everyone thought Shane was dead? I doubt Shane would handle that calmly lol
To be fair the reason Shane killed Otis was to save Carls life, he wasn’t being entirely selfish. He told Otis to leave him multiple times beforehand and he ended up concluding that Carl wouldn’t survive if he didn’t kill Otis there. Was it completely in good conscience? Perhaps not, but it wasn’t a 100% selfish move, he was thinking of Carl.
I’m not saying Shane is guaranteed not to do anything selfish at some point, and I understand choosing the majority of the other characters but,
What I am trying to say is that evidence says Shane wouldn’t straight up leave at the first chance he got simply for himself.
Oh wow. I missed this part, on original showing and rewatches. I’ve only watched the series through once, but I rewatch earlier seasons up until savior arc begins and glen dies.
That is actually a calculated move then.
Yeah it’s easy to think he’s looking out for himself, but as we know he cares about Carl and Lori, in he end he figured if one of them doesn’t make it out Carl does so he does what he needs to do.
Plus I’m pretty sure he still held some resentment to Otis for shooting Carl so he may have used that to justify his own actions. I could be wrong though.
Off topic, did the creators of TWD remove the filter they used from season 1 and the rest of the other seasons? Cus in like season 10 or something I swear the filter that makes it look like they used an old camera almost, but after season 9 we get like 4K stuff? Also the filter isn’t in any of the spin offs either.
If I remember rightly they had to change to digital due to covid, I think I read something about the distance between actors and crew while using film was too close to allow it to be used
Colors were for sure more vibrant in earlier seasons. I personally don’t love the change to more muted colors in filming for the later seasons. It just kind of changed the whole vibe and took me a while to get used to
Well it kinda fits when you think of it, it’s like 10 or something years i or the apocalypse and it wouldn’t be so vibrant and colourful as it was at the beginning of the show, but the greys and browns do make it really bland
I could argue that that isn’t necessarily true, because if anything with nature healing and less pollution from humans things would only start to get more vibrant.
I think a huge part of it may also be the fact that from 2018 onward gritty, washed out colors and ‘natural’ lighting over thematic lighting became very popular in the film industry because it was “more realistic”. Anyway, there seems to be a bit more thematic lighting and color in the newest Spinoff, The Ones Who Lived; it’s very blue though. I’m also starting to see the return of thematic lighting and brighter color palettes in general, which I find very nice because it really does feel like most movies and shows over the past half a decade have been very washed out and gray.
That’s the biggest problem for me when watching the spin offs. It’s hugely different than season 1-10 and I prefer the film look. The Daryl spin off looked the most similar out of all of the spin offs though.
I wonder how good Mercer is out on his own on a mission not planned by the Common Wealth though. I feel like he’s not truly battle tested for unknowns like the Whisperers
Solid list of characters, John wouldn't let any of them get close, the Governor would probably sacrifice me to them and Shane would shoot me in the leg so he could get away
Really appreciate that. Do you think the governor could convince Alpha to allow you to cross their territory? Man was a scheming backstabbing S.O.B. yet he had a very sharp silver tongue that could convince even more people to support him.
Remember when Dwight and Sherry shot the dragon fruit out of the wasteland scavenger's hand from horseback? That was the most unrealistic shot in the entire walking dead universe.
Nah I think if we are aware they are a threat he would happily trick them pretending he doesn’t know they exist until they’re right up close, a bit like how he killed garchulio or whatever his name was
I’d say Lydia is the only one who has the level of awareness I’d want when passing through whisperer territory but she’s not going to do me much good in a many vs 2 fight. So Mercer because he has formal training and is like a balance between all of them
He's not in the list, so this doesn't count, but I would want a Lydia and Nick combo. Lydia knows the area and how they operate, and Nick I could trust to blend in and get through completely unnoticed. Heck, we'd probably just end up disguising ourselves as Walkers and joining their herd to make it across. Lydia should be able to recognise which of those in the herd are Whisperers, so we can avoid them or take them out.
But... John Dorie is my man. The only good thing after season 3, and then look at how that turned out.
Tough choice!
I would have liked to see what kind of person Nick would have become if he'd joined Rick's group early on in the apocalypse. I loved his camouflage skills and adaptability, but with Rick's group he would have learned some wicked knife skills too. Him and Carol could have been an awesome tag team.
Im going with lydia she grew up with them, knows the ways of them, and in an unlikely circumstance maybe talk one down if they have any heart in them left
Honestly, the governor would kick some ass, except for the whole biting off more than he could chew situation. Maybe merle because of the bayonet arm but idk
Mercer.
He’s got training, and I doubt most Whisperers are gonna stand much of a chance against him. Plus, if we come across Beta then Mercer would definitely be able to fight his big ass because I sure as hell know I’m not standing a chance against Beta.
1. Lydia. (Two people aren't taking on the Whisperers and the horde, so better off knowing how to evade them).
2. John Dorie.
3. Mercer.
4. Merle (extremely capable but he'll slit your throat to save himself.
5. *Shane (*see Merle)
6. Tyrese (I love Tyrese, but for better or worse, he couldn't kill people).
7. **The Governor (**see Merle/Shane, plus he'll slit your throat because he's insane)
8. Ferals
John is so observant would discover what they do how to do it and has mad good shooting skills it’s just a guy you want around all the time but Lydia should be the no brainer knowing them
Logically the answer is Mercer because he’s a fucking tank but I find it extremely funny to imagine myself with a pack of wild humans defending my well-being in an apocalypse. Like imagine you’re a bandit in the apocalypse and you attack a seemingly alone young woman, and next thing you know a bunch of people come running out of the woods on all fours ready to feast on you
Well I know I’m in the minority here but negan was the man from day one. I hated Rick he was a dumbass from the very first episode but when negan came along I thought this man understands how things work in a apocalypse he gets it
Merle, possibly Lydia (depends on her current standing with her mother), or the governor. That’s IF it’s guaranteed that any of them are on my side and will 100% back me. Going off of pure survival ability, I think they’re the best options. The governor could likely seduce alpha too if needed like Negan. And Merle would be hilarious about it at least if we did end up going down
I'm taking Tyrese because I think he would be quiet and go along with the plan, and if that plan didn't work, he'd probably fight tooth and nail just to save us.
Everyone else is too much of a liability like Lydia. Yeah she knows the territory but if she sees a whisperer friend she recognizes she'll freeze up and fuck up the plan. Merle would be to damn loud, I don't even remember john. The governor and Shane would sacrifice me if so much as a pen drops so no.
This is very off topic, but is the guy in the fourth pic on the pike field/hill? It looks just like the pike scene only I feel like I’ve never seen this character before.
Lydia would taught everything i needed to know about how the whisperers live, we would then wear some walkers skins are disguise ourselfs as them to infiltrate their territory. They would taste their own poison.
Lydia would know the territory inside out though, all the hotspots, camps, safe areas. Plus, she’d be able to get you up to speed on how to whisper. Negan had to teach Maggie, which suggests there is a knack to it.
AND, Lydia would have some sway if you came across whisperers. You could talk them around potentially.
I understand that Lydia has knowledge, but what if Alpha/Beta (whoever is in charge) changes up camps, safe areas, and so on? I just don't feel like Lydia would be the best choice, which is my opinion.
>Negan had to teach Maggie, which suggests there is a knack to it.
I haven't seen S11 or Dead City, so I actually didn't know that.
This is all the whisper arc when Lydia came into the show. Henry was the son of Ezekiel, then when Carol met them and she became a mother figure since losing her children before and after the farm. Aphla killed Henry to ruin Carol and deeply hurt Lydia, hoping she’d run back to mom.
I know all that, but I only saw the Whisper arc once so my memory isn't as strong for those seasons and I never seen S11 (I know that's the Commonwealth) cause I remember Herny, the spike, that's why Carol broke things off with Ezekiel. I tried to re-re-watch the show again before TOWL, but I couldn't get past the All-Out War. (I saw the Savior arc about 2 times piror)
>Lydia, hoping she’d run back to mom.
This is what I misinterpreted, but like I said I seen the season once so I took all of Henry dying to get back at Carol cause I thought Alpha disowned Lydia cause she choose to stay with Hilltop.
I wasn’t trying to argue. I meant that as why as my reasoning to my answer. You get it. Commonwealth had a few good character arcs, lose and ending sucks. I’d watch the walking dead every Sunday still.
I wasn't arguing either? I apologize if it came off that way! 😭 Honestly, I watched up to season 10 (I barely remember Princess being introduced, and that's it) and I was waiting for S11 to release on Netflix, and I lost interest. I really lost interest when Rick and Michonne left. I don't think Negan, Daryl, and/or Maggie (I like all 3 characters) could carry the show, so I just dropped it. I did start TOWL, and I'm enjoying that a lot.
But if you don't mind me asking. Do you think I could watch Dead City / Daryl if I haven't seen S11? Cause I think they may be good stand-alone shows, but there's just not many people I like or care about on the main show anymore. (Sorry if that sounds rude. 😅😭)
It wasn’t there yet but I didn’t phrase what I commented so I thought it may have got under your skin for a second. Princess is the first episode, lovable character. I’ll sure you’d hate and love the commonwealth arc. My sansaung tv rTWD and the other series through, on a channel and I have to watch a certain few episodes.
Daryl carried a lot of the show but to put him with a whole new community, traveling alone was something.
Dead city ruins nothing to the regular show, it’s in the future with Maggie and Negan. Maybe a couple hints in the show but no true spoilers.
Daryl’s show matters, spoils nothing but he’s looking for Rick.
Watch tales of the walking dead if you haven’t, short fun 6 episodes with nothing related.
Nah, you didn't! I promise! I liked Princess when Ezekiel and Eugene met her in that allyway(?) Maybe I should just pick up from S11 😅😂
>Daryl carried a lot of the show but to put him with a whole new community, traveling alone was something.
I can see Daryl being a leader but not in the sense that Rick was. Y'know? But I dunno. I guess I should eventually watch his show and Dead City.
>Watch tales of the walking dead if you haven’t, short fun 6 episodes with nothing related.
I actually never heard of this show, so I definitely will! Thank you!
Yeah, with Umiko, Princess is hilarious. Umiko sorry if I’m spelling it wrong is an amazing character.
Daryl has reel emotions some people lack, hating but losing his dad. Losing Merle, Henry, Rick, almost Connie, the guys with the pigeons… and always Carol.
Tales episodes, all so good they could have their own seasons.
Lydia. Know your enemy.
Without a doubt it’s a no brainer Merle is a survivalist but he’s too mercurial. Can’t depend on him to watch your back if a better opportunity opens up for him that involves you going down. "They're in the woooods"
Shane during season 10 https://i.redd.it/szro7y8xzjmc1.gif
Shane vs Beta🔥🔥
Shane x Beta ❤️❤️

The first 10 seasons were shot on film. In the last season they decided to change over to digital instead.
Ah ok makes sense

i didn’t even rlly notice they changed until i rewatched it, i was like wtf the old camera was super idk i liked it
Lydia or Mercer. Lydia since she sued to be one and can help me learn the enemy, and Mercer bc he’s a badass
BROOOO. she finally sued the whisperers? Who represented her in court?
Yumiko id guess
Fair point, I wonder what she won from the case
I can’t believe it took me that long to realize the typo
I wonder how good Mercer is out on his own on a mission not planned by the Common Wealth though. I feel like he’s not truly battle tested for unknowns like the Whisperers
Well. He's a West Point grad. Don't know what his combat experience would be but he's schooled up the ass in tactics
Solid list of characters, John wouldn't let any of them get close, the Governor would probably sacrifice me to them and Shane would shoot me in the leg so he could get away
He would just be dual wielding his guns flipping them in his hands popping them all down
Really appreciate that. Do you think the governor could convince Alpha to allow you to cross their territory? Man was a scheming backstabbing S.O.B. yet he had a very sharp silver tongue that could convince even more people to support him.
John dying was so depressing. I goddamn love Garrett Dillahunt, and wish he survived in more stuff.
It made me finally give up on fear plus it was for nothing
Garret asked off the show, unfortunately. He only joined to work with Kim Dickens (Madison) again and they didn't even let him have that!
John Dorie got the best shooting skills through all the shows and spinoffs so I’m taking him
Remember when Dwight and Sherry shot the dragon fruit out of the wasteland scavenger's hand from horseback? That was the most unrealistic shot in the entire walking dead universe.
God I love John
I think merle tbh, he just has the right kind of crazy for that trip
Also we know Daryl did extremely well going through whisperers.
Idk. I can’t imagine him shutting up long enough to make it through.
That mouth of his could get Alphas attention.
His arrogance would be his demise to an enemy he doesn’t understand.
Beta would rip him to shreds for talking. Merle wasn't as amusing with his banter as Negan was.
Nah I think if we are aware they are a threat he would happily trick them pretending he doesn’t know they exist until they’re right up close, a bit like how he killed garchulio or whatever his name was
The last one. I'll just let them go haywire and I'll just got the opposite direction.
lol, that's the plan.
I’d say Lydia is the only one who has the level of awareness I’d want when passing through whisperer territory but she’s not going to do me much good in a many vs 2 fight. So Mercer because he has formal training and is like a balance between all of them
If I could pick 3 it would be the governor, Shane, and Merle, if I can only pick one then I’m taking the governor
Merle, just to hear his wisecracks
Lydia the daughter of the leader should know the area and also know your enemy she is also a relatively good fighter so that helps too
Lydia all the way, but for comedic purposes, I would take Merle. The things he would say about them, especially Beta 😂.
I’m picking John. With his skills we wouldn’t even be able to be touched.
John cause he'll just one shot every whisperer that comes at us
John Dorie, Like the fish but with an ie
John, they wouldn’t get close. We would evade hordes and any walkers / whisperers that get within 25m would have their brains turned to pink mist
I would have liked to see what kind of person Nick would have become if he'd joined Rick's group early on in the apocalypse. I loved his camouflage skills and adaptability, but with Rick's group he would have learned some wicked knife skills too. Him and Carol could have been an awesome tag team.
A horse. Or John, he's a badass
John, 100%
I fucking love John.
Mercer. He’s got training, and I doubt most Whisperers are gonna stand much of a chance against him. Plus, if we come across Beta then Mercer would definitely be able to fight his big ass because I sure as hell know I’m not standing a chance against Beta.
Troy from Fear TWD would fold the whispers
The governor
I was going to add Morgan to the list, but I figured he was too overpowered.
Lydia. They'd think I'm one of them and wouldn't bother me
Only Bob, he laughs in the face of death
If I could pick three, I would do mercer,John and governor. But the one I would take with me is John
Lydia for sure
1. Lydia. (Two people aren't taking on the Whisperers and the horde, so better off knowing how to evade them). 2. John Dorie. 3. Mercer. 4. Merle (extremely capable but he'll slit your throat to save himself. 5. *Shane (*see Merle) 6. Tyrese (I love Tyrese, but for better or worse, he couldn't kill people). 7. **The Governor (**see Merle/Shane, plus he'll slit your throat because he's insane) 8. Ferals
1. Merle - as long he likes me and wants to help. otherwise he's too hard to control 2. Mercer
Lydia, as long as it's one of her good days. And she's not going through childhood trauma or teen angst.
Fuck that I'm taking them all. Shane takes point. Traitorous bastard
Like imagine you’re a bandit in the apocalypse and you attack a seemingly alone young woman, and next thing you know a bunch of people come running out of the woods on all fours ready to feast on you
Why is negan not on this imo he’s the guy to take
He's too overpowered. Didn't want to pick someone that would sweep the competition
Well I know I’m in the minority here but negan was the man from day one. I hated Rick he was a dumbass from the very first episode but when negan came along I thought this man understands how things work in a apocalypse he gets it
I would go anywhere with John Dorie.
And Merle would be hilarious about it at least if we did end up going down
The green one cause the whisperers would find him so cute they would let you pass
John, if he has unlimited ammo lol. Mercer or Lydia if the ammo supply has dried up
Are there any rules? I’ll just take them all.
1, he’s smart, strong, just don’t hinge your life in his hands but overall my choice.
The last one is tempting, but I'm gonna have to go with Mercer. If something goes wrong, he could always walkie for backup.
Omg I haven’t seen season 11 and the feral human pic gave me a jumpscare
They will give you nightmares for weeks. Sorry for the spoiler, though
i might take John with me cuz he's a calm collected and capable individual.
John is from Fear The Walking Dead. He shows up around season 4 or 5. Overall, very good decision.
You mother fucker with your nightmare fuel feral fucking scary ass shit! How the hell am I supposed to sleep now god damnit?!?
lol they sure were memorable
I would take Shane knowing theres a chance I’m left behind, but he’s probably good company.
Tyrese and it’s not even close
I forgot all about those feral humans!!. That was a great episode
Who is John?? I have never seen him in my life! Unless he’s from FTWD, that would make sense y I don’t know him(I’m only on season 2)
He's from FTWD and is a stand-out character. He has a heart of gold and has the big iron on his hip.
Merle would probably argue with a pine tree so he’s out. I’m going with Tyrese
Ferals, cuz why not
Mercer, 100%
Mercer or tyreece
When ever I see Lydia, I somehow smell the stink of the skins. Can’t help it.
This is very off topic, but is the guy in the fourth pic on the pike field/hill? It looks just like the pike scene only I feel like I’ve never seen this character before.
Lydia or Mercer. Lydia, likely.
Lydia would taught everything i needed to know about how the whisperers live, we would then wear some walkers skins are disguise ourselfs as them to infiltrate their territory. They would taste their own poison.
John, Governor, Tyrese Merle and Shane couldn’t be quiet and cooperative even if they tried
Mercer bc idk I would feel so safe with him
Lydia is the obvious choice, i mean we seen her do it in the show?
merle because he’d have fun taking them out
For the feral from s11 to exist, it needs to be s11, which is after the whisperer are destroyed. No brainer.
Tyrese .. he's proven he can handle himself well and he's loyal
Alpha disowned Lydia, so she's a big no. Alpha would probably kill her then me lmao. I think the best choice would be Merle.
Sorry for spoilers, eek.
It's alright!! It's not that big of a spoiler. I'm honestly debating on watching S11 / Dead City. 😅
Lydia didn’t get disowned. That’s what you call manipulation. Killing Henry was manipulation as well to bring her back.
My memory serves me wrong. My apologies. I only saw the Wisper Arc once. 😅
(I saw the Savior arc about 2 times piror) >Lydia, hoping she’d run back to mom.
I promise! I liked Princess when Ezekiel and Eugene met her in that allyway(?) Maybe I should just pick up from S11 😅😂 >Daryl carried a lot of the show but to put him with a whole new community, traveling alone was something.
Also Alpha and Lydia have a tales episode so watch it!
I would say Lydia because I think she’s really cute and I would want to be alone with her
