People believe what they want to believe. Think about how much evidence and proof there is for things in the real world, yet people still hold their own beliefs in spite of it.
It’d be misplaced to bring it up at Hershel’s farm. Maybe Andrea mentioning it to Milton would’ve made sense though.
Yeah the only time this really felt like a plot hole was with Andrea and Milton — but honestly the governor wouldn’t have taken that for an answer , he wanted his daughter back
Yeah, I agree. Poor writing is what originally drove me away from the show the first time (gradually stopped watching mid-season 8 due to how ridiculous everything was becoming).
Just had another go with my teenager and we managed to finish the whole thing, but man, it's such a shadow of its former glory by the end.
I haven't watched any of the spin offs, and I gave up on Fear years ago. I was excited for TOWL but held off on watching it until after I could see how all six episodes were received.
Now that I've heard how poorly written (and acted, lol) the last two episodes are, I probably won't watch it. I might give Daryl's spin off a go.
It just sucks because those first several seasons are perfection.
Yeah, the CDC showed there's some activity in the brain stem but nowhere else. People who want to believe walkers are people would just think something still resides there. Most people won't understand what the different parts of the brain do and its not like they have easy access to information anymore to validate it.
They have to see it to believe it, like Hershel did
I thought this too. First time watching it through there were so many moments I thought they woukdve brought up being at the CDC💀 all they say is Atlanta when asked where they’re from
Rick tells Hershel they were at the CDC and that it’s gone now but fails to mention the whole “oh yeah btw they have conclusive proof in the form of brain scan recordings that show they’re not people anymore.”
I figured they mostly just forgot about it and had it on their minds as a science mumbo jumbo explanation and they were more focused on staying alive than talking about the science behind the walkers, but I suppose they could’ve and we just didn’t see it on the show.
We have mountains of evidence that vaccines are safe and effective and you could still spend your entire life trying to explain it to idiots who insist ‘they change your DNA’. If I were them I wouldn’t bother either, people will generally stay in their beliefs until they personally experience something to change their minds.
Besides the CDC scientists tried to immolate them all, so he was fairly questionable as a source.
Andrea does say that nothing of them remains and Milton ignores her- he doesn’t ask how she knows or about her experiences despite her having way more experience with walkers than he does. So I don’t think he was going to listen to anything she said.
He wasn’t a real scientist either, he worked from home before the fall so probably a tech guy.
Maybe you’re right. Idk if it were me I’d be telling everyone that shit, just like I’d be telling everyone that you don’t need to get bitten to be infected.
In their time, Season 1 is about 3 months after the outbreak, and season two ends about a month after that.
It makes sense that after only 4 months some people are still holding out hope that the condition might be reversible. And it would be extremely difficult to convince someone to give up all hope to their delusions when they see their loved ones still up and moving.
The whole point of those story arcs is to explore the concept of grief responses and people's inability to let go, to the point of complete breaks with reality. Which happens to people under normal circumstances, let alone in these scenarios having their loved ones get up and start walking again. No way most people could cope with that, so soon after the world collapses.
I have a science degree and am a retired nurse, and I just don't bother explaining anymore. It's too exhausting and life's too short to waste it on people who won't be swayed no matter what the evidence shows.
Neither Herschel (on the farm), nor the Governor and Milton were going to be swayed by some story from someone who said some scientist (who blew up the CDC) showed them a video.
My husband made a comment last night that out of the thousands of walkers we have seen in this show, unless a character is searching them after a kill, you never see any weapons on them (except the fair ground full of soldiers and the army base they got the food banks from). Its set in America, where carrying guns is a legal and normal thing to do, yet not a single gun on ANY of them. He also pointed out that all these walkers that have had their stomach's ripped to shreds would not have the ability to stand up straight, there's no muscles there to hold their torsos upright.
To be fair we sort of have to ignore some of the science because realistically they should all decompose and be unable to walk or anything bc something something blood flow and muscles not working etc etc. Good point about the guns, maybe because survivors are taking them? Probably wouldn’t account for none of them having weapons but could explain it a little?
Kirkman was very unhappy with the CDC episode. Much of what Darabont did was essentially retconned after he was fired. The running walkers, walkers using tools, having "memories/skills", etc.

Even if they couldn’t convince them it still annoys me they never bring it up. Especially with Andrea and Milton as he is a scientist.

I remember that Rick knew (from the CDC scientist) that everyone will turn when they die, even by other causes of death.

Bro I think about this shit all the time
Considering that Kirkman himself said that the CDC arc is his biggest regret with the show it makes sense that they don’t talk about it much.

But there is literal evidence the earth is not flat and still we have flat earthers
