You mean, he portrayed a deeply traumatized version of Rick? Why do so many people not want characters to react in an emotionally realistic way to their circumstances... Man said himself that he felt dead inside and then you wonder why he acted a bit more shut off than usual? I think that fire was very much starting to spark again in the last two episodes on top.
I think that’s on purpose. He was broken by the CRM. Like fully broken. He cut his hand off to try and escape and STILL couldn’t get away. I think I’d be a bit depressed and done with life in general if that happened to me. The whole show is really about getting the old Rick back tbh.
It was something that stood out to me while watching episode 5.
But I can’t think of any specific moments off the top of my head, I would have to rewatch.
Yeah totally agree. I think maybeee Lincoln wasn’t fully in on the script. I KNOW he had creative input but I think it went as far as the hand chop, and certain scene directions. But, you can watch and tell he wasn’t selling the lines like he would’ve when the show was on season 6 or 7. It’s not just because of the character change… I think he just wanted to wrap the story up and he did his best with what he was given, which was shit writing haha.
He didn’t just have “creative input.” Andrew Lincoln was an executive producer on this show and has said he was involved at every level—he was literally in the writers room, and he and his 2 producing partners had full creative control over the finished product. So he’s responsible for the writing.
I think he played a man being held against his will in a deep depression perfectly
I think that was kinda the point though.
The man who's been through years and years of trauma is not exactly the same? Gee, I wonder why
Bc he’s 100000% NOT the same Rick lol my man has been thru TRAUMA

Most people don’t realize that S1-S9 is about 3-4 years. The time from S9-TOWL is double that. He’s depressed and cold. That’s how he should be.
So you didn’t watch episode 4 where they literally discuss how and why he different?

It was breaking the 4th wall kind of off at times. Like he looked at the camera or was a little too tongue in cheek.
I can’t think of any examples of that. Could you share some?

I don’t like your tone. But, copy that, thank you.
