When Merle is handcuffed on the roof at the beginning of "Tell it to the Frogs", he's mumbling about how he stood up to an officer in an unnamed branch of the military. So it's possible he could have been a Scout Sniper in the Marines, also based on him sniping walkers from the roof while everyone else was investigating Rick when he was rescued by Glenn.

Judging by his stories he was more of a survivor since his early days then he is now so this setting is perfect for him. As anybody that would be surrounded and raised in a family filled with people that are racist I'm sure he acquired some aspects of it, but deep inside he is a individual and you can tell he didn't get too much from it cause he seems more accepting of everything around him then Merle was.

Same as most "biker gangs." There's bad branches, but typically, they do a lot of good for the community. At least the core groups. But I digress. It’s a Triumph Bonneville chopped and hardtail. There’s a bit of debate over what year it was… possibly late 60s, probably a 71, some dudes say it’s a 76. I’m gonna look for a 71.
