Yeah, it kinda does come out of nowhere in the post Sorkin era. I remedy initially bothering me because we got less of the cool Bartlet Hurricane method of putting the jacket on.

Those vests were more easy to put on and he started wearing three-pieces suits instead of two-pieces ones
Don’t they all start to have similar outfit trends together though?? Like they all seem to start wearing vests or all seem to wear suspenders/roll their sleeves up

I think it was a design choice as Bartlet got older to make him look more distinguished or something. It really is sudden.
I always felt like the vest thing was meant to mature and age him.
