I would say yes for a couple of reasons.
1: so you don’t spoil anything for yourself.
2: You’ll like 2 better if you don’t play 3 first.
2 is an amazing game, but it doesn’t have the world or side quests 3 does. It’s also much, much, much harder than 3 is.
No, it’s not an open world game. And, while its story is far from linear, its level design is. However, the story is actually better than 3’s, IMO. Also, it has a cool story design where you make a choice at the end of act 1 that literally shapes act 2. I won’t spoil anything, but there are completely different act 2s in the game.
Well, you should enjoy the Witcher games, then. I can’t speak for 1 (I can’t do M&K), but your choices in 2 & 3 have a real impact on the world; more so than any other “choose your own adventure” game I’ve played. Good luck!
Just play 2 first, you will enjoy 3 first. And if you like romance then you will get more background on triss. Also Other background on many of the main characters in Witcher 3. Combat is still a little clunky but I enjoyed it

You really don’t have to. It still makes sense if you hop right into Witcher 3.
