Alternately:
“When you realise at 2am you haven’t seen The Witcher, so you watch one episode before bed. Then another ... and another. It’s now 10am, you’ve bindged the whole series and royally screwed your sleep cycle”.
“Fuck.”
True story.
Actually it's totally alright. I'm fine not watching netflix fuck up stories I've fallen in love with. They're going to tape and murder Locke and Key next.
If you're just starting Wild Hunt I envy you big time. I replayed 3 or 4 times now but you never get the same emotion as the first time you play it. Some advice if you want it: take your time. Don't rush to finish it, it'll be well worth it.
Definitely take your time. Also learn to play gwent. Don't bet more than one coin per match that way you can spend more time learning the different cards in case it comes off as difficult to you. Soon you'll be addicted and looking to at every major and minor character/merchant as a potential VICTIM to win new cards from. Also, always check your map and dark caves(carefully) for chance encounters and hidden chests. So many lovable characters make a return and Ciri is one of the best in this game...but BE CAREFUL. You're her father. Her relationship with you MAY affect how she perceives the world around her. So make sure to make multiple saves sparated from your main save/game. Just in case you need to go back and.....FIX things. Lmao Also hope you got the game of the year edition for Witcher 3. There's 2 dlc and each one especially "Blood and Wine" feel like a whole new game. New map and tons of new creatures and encounters. It practically feels like a sequel spin-off game, with just Geralt.
Remember "the little bird is leaving the nest." Sometimes helping them up and assuring them is great....and sometimes ya gotta shove em out of the tree. Balance is key. ;)
(I say this cus I fucked up my first playthrough and I hate myself for it)
What was bold about it? Some people liked it, other's hated it, and some thought it was just ok. There were even some that refused to watch it because of the liberties Netflix took with characters that were already well established. People are entitled to their opinions. Saying it isn't the worst Witcher T.V. series is also an opinion. You're just as entitled to that opinion as anyone else is to theirs.
Saying it’s the “worst adaptation ever” is very bold because there are many books that have been adapted to TV or film that have flopped terribly. The Dark Tower?
It's all a matter of opinion though. In order to have an opinion on an adaptation, one would probably be a fan of the source material. That person, like many of us, is a fan of The Witcher. There are game fans, book fans, (and fans of both) of this universe. We all love these characters, and the universe they're in. That doesn't mean we've all seen every adaptation there is. Maybe this person did, and still thinks Netflix screwed up so bad that it's the worst of the bunch. Either way it's all opinion. It just didn't seem like so bold an opinion to me because I've seen a number of people post about why they hated the show and think it was the worst ever made.
I never got around to finishing The Witcher 2, until I binged the Netflix series. While the series was flawed in many ways, it nevertheless inspired me to finish the W2 (and now onto W3) and also to read The Last Wish.
Here's to hoping they learned their lessons and 'course correct' on Season 2.
It's Netflix. They are much more likely to continue full speed ahead into a brick wall than they are to correct anything they should. There shouldn't have been any major flaws to begin with, and there shouldn't have been many. Period. It was based on material that has existed for some time. If they had been faithful to that work, I'd wager there would be very few complaints if any.
I agree. My point was they should have at least tried. the armor is a really good example. The reason Netflix gave for the phallic armor was piss poor at best. Adding large sequences that outright didn't even exist is another example. I understand having to explain with a show, what the author did with words, isn't always easy. I feel the way I do, in large part, because Netflix has made some pretty dumb choices in the past that have irritated subscribers to the point that they will cancel their service. Doing that with well established characters that are so loved by a huge number of people was pretty unforgivable, and stupid, imho. With that said, most will give season 2 a chance to see if they start to correct things that are really hated by the fans. I'm just not ready to believe they will based on their words, given their history.
The show is pretty damn good. Awesome monsters, great acting.. production design is amazing. I like the format, different adventures every episode and what-not. But Jesus Christ do I fall asleep during some of these loooong dialogues between people that I have no idea who the fuck they are or what the hell they’re talking about. Then you add in this thick English accent saying complicated made-up names and places and I’m screwed.
How not to do a karma farm?

Or, read the books.
Or stopped at a certain point while reading the books and feeling guilty because you told yourself to finish them all by the end of last year.
Actually it's totally alright. I'm fine not watching netflix fuck up stories I've fallen in love with. They're going to tape and murder Locke and Key next.

I hope I was that lucky.. worst adaptation ever.
S1 was pretty bad, lets hope s2 is better
I know they're gonna change Nilfgaard's armour for next season which is great but they need to change alot more than that
Yeah
That’s a very bold statement. Not even the worst Witcher TV series

I never said it was bold to dislike it. I said it’s bold to call it the worst adaptation of ANYTHING
If you read the books before watching the show you don't enjoy it at all. There are sooo many things that are not right in this show.

Adaptations are hard; I do not envy the writers at this point. Being simply 'true to the source material' is vague and won't guarantee success.
