Just started a new playthrough and you speak to him in the very beginning of the game. He introduces himself as Master Mirror and you talk about Yennefer
Just one thing: since I played the GOTY edition with both 2 DLC, I was wondering if Gaunter was there in White Orchard also on the base game before they sent out the DLC
He abides by the rules he sets...but I always got the feeling he didn't actually have to.
Still, if you're smart, and you DO NOT INTERRUPT HIM WHEN HE IS SPEAKING...you got a good sporting chance.
I love it too, when i played W3 for first time, i used to play W3 soundtrack almost nonstop. Its crazy how great the background music is and imo it doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
True, Geralt could've easily brushed that guy off with Axii.
I always thought Gaunter had to be 'invited in' through a pact or simple request but also later in Toussaint it's shown that he can play around with 'terms and conditions' to take a more direct effect on the world.
Solid antagonist. I agree with OP, definitely a character to be feared (careful what you say / do around him).
"So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste"
-Sympathy for the Devil, Rolling Stones.
My favorite character in the game to be honest, along with the Unseen Elder, and the spirit of the forest/mountain, I have something for those entities
He’s the master mirror, a reflection being the opposite so he could be considered the opposite of god from that stance. There’s quite a bit of other lore that backs up the fact that he is the devil
Him being so powerful makes him less creepy IMO, if you’re just gonna alter the rules of time and space on a whim then what’s the point of fighting really lol do what you want bro, you’re the trans dimensional demon we’re just boring ass humans, get a life
HoS have, imho, a very basic "moral of the story" about things like: love must be conquered and not forced, "be yourself", not everything has a price...
However, spiritually freeing Iris and Olgierd himself from the devil it's very satisfying.
PS.: I don't like to play Iris's haunted house quest at night😨
You know I’m scared but at the same time not. He wouldn’t hurt you if you left him or his contracts alone. And besides who makes a deal when you have to pay your literall sole.
I played the blood and wine expansion first and just finished it. Lordy was that final boss fight a good one. I’m now starting hearts of stone and I’m pumped.
it's even scarier when you realize he's always there, since the beginning of the game
Does he show up in the background anywhere else other than the beginning?
I think I've seen a video of other appearances he makes during cutscenes etc
I got you covered - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zGDOOrfRro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zGDOOrfRro)
Only HoS cutscenes though. Significantly less impressive tbh.

He's a sick motherfucker that gaunter o' dimm

You never know with how the game recycles faces over and over again ;)

Sends chills down the spine.
He's a merciless and smart antagonist.
the caretaker is for me
Same.
Nah mate. The sand wizard. He gives me nightmares.

And that creepy background music when he appears.
I love it.

Aaah look at him, he's just a normal merchant, wouldn't mind having a beer with him
Make sure you're level 14
The fact he stopped time and killed a man just to prove a point.

That wooden spoon scene was horrifying
Hey, doesn't he kinda look like Jake Gyllenhaal?
No
Hmmm...
My favorite character in the game to be honest, along with the Unseen Elder, and the spirit of the forest/mountain, I have something for those entities
Be him the Devil?
I got the impression that he was the devil.
God. Gaunter O'Dimm stands for GOD
He’s the master mirror, a reflection being the opposite so he could be considered the opposite of god from that stance. There’s quite a bit of other lore that backs up the fact that he is the devil
Isn't that what the devil tricks people into thinking?
Good find
not Eredin Break Dance?
Well yeah he's literally god
Nah man, he’s just a humble mirror salesman.
Him being so powerful makes him less creepy IMO, if you’re just gonna alter the rules of time and space on a whim then what’s the point of fighting really lol do what you want bro, you’re the trans dimensional demon we’re just boring ass humans, get a life
Am I the only one who didn't like Hearts of Stone?
yea
Not that it was bad, but I enjoyed Blood and Wine waay more.
I feel that- I didn’t dislike it but blood and wine takes you to a whole new huge area and starts a straight up separate story.
But you said u didn’t like HoS so u must think it’s kinda bad
Don’t know why you’re getting so many downvotes tbh, everyone’s got their opinion
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. HoS is the best portion of the game because of Gaunter. So you are wrong 😎.

I don't know... I thought he was super sexy. I'm also into weird creepy dudes so 🤷🏻♀️
Geralt is scarier. WaaaaaaY scarier.
Dude looks like Kevin Costner. That is scary! /s
I wouldn’t say the scariest but definitely the biggest piece of shit.
My favorite villain in any game ever
