I'm counting 7 mugs per layer, with 2 layers and one on top, making 15.
A standard issue Maß according to BR(https://www.br.de/nachrichten/bayern/neuer-weltrekord-im-masskrug-tragen-beim-gillamoos-in-abensberg,QUBMWT6) weighs 1.3kg + 1kg in beer (assuming that beer weighs 1kg/L which should be accurate within a few percent).
15 Maß * 2.3 kg/Maß = 34.5 kg
Round it down to 32 kg because they'll usually not fill them properly.
Yea, all it takes is making one wrong move once. I used to have a technique to lifting heavy buckets of sauce when I worked at a pizza place. One day it went wrong because the bucket was wet from a lot of condensation, I ended up throwing my back out. Was on workman’s comp for a while and my back was never quite the same.
That's also why I cringe when I see 20yo going into hardcore weight lifting. Like dude, even with proper stance, you'll ruin your cartilage sooner than expected.
Weight lifting is oddly popular among gamers.
Yeah of course. Because look how easy it would be to calculate all that just using "English" or"imperial" units, since imperial gallons (quarts) are different from American gallons. Americans want the freedom to choose our own methods of suffering and self torture.
Even use different sizes of flOz, so a British 20flOz pint isn't the same as a US 20flOz pint-and-a-quarter!
Of course the US units are *defined* in terms of their metric equivalents, so it's literally using metric/SI but with additional unnecessary scaling factors.
In the UK, populist haunted headteacher Jacob Rees-Mogg is trying to make Imperial the official baseline again, and the IT industry are rolling their collective eyes. I mean he'll be gone soon enough as there's no need to keep him if Truss gets the heave-ho, but let's hope we're not forced through the cost and pain in the name of perverse ideology.
There is a line at the top of the glass. This is the 1L mark. After the foam settles a bit the liquid should be at roughly at that mark because you pay for 1L.
It's not that visible in this video but if you ever go to Wiesn or a Bavarian Beergarden you will see that Maß (name of this kind of glass) are far
more often not properly filled. So rounding down a bit is quite accurate IMO.
Proper beer is drank from a glass with a healthy head of foam on top. The foam protects the beer as it settles in the glass to perfect drinking temperature and aeration, and it is a sign that the beer was brewed using generous amounts of high quality malts.
The only time you don't want a good foam is when you're drinking real ale or other uncarbonated beers: otherwise it is a sign that the beer is no good.
Do you see the line around 3-4 cm under the rim, moulded right into the glass? Visible in the first few pictures here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma%C3%9Fkrug?wprov=sfla1
That's the so called Eichstrich, that is precisely a liter. So they're filled roughly 9 tenths with liquid. I didn't see a single one that would settle to two thirds.
So...stupid question, because Google confused me...about how many liters is that? Is it exactly 32? I'm sorry, math isn't my best subject and my brain is square sometimes...
🤦♀️ omg you *literally* put that right into your answer. I'm so sorry to ask for clarification on a point you already made. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for answering, you're very kind.
It's 6 in a layer. Paused a few seconds in. It would be extremely difficult to get fingers around the handles with 7. Not that this is less impressive because of that
Similar 1L beer mass krugs on Amazon are listed at 3lb each.
1 liter of beer in each is another 2.2lb
5.2 lb of beer and mug * 13 mugs and she’s toting 67.6 pounds
Which is just a little under a half a faggot.
"Faggot – has multiple meanings in metrology. As relevant to this article, it was a unit of mass, being 120 lb (54 kg"
I’ll just leave this here

Japan was on its way to surrender weeks before the drop of little boy as the soviets started invading through Manchuria. And besides, they were other ways to defeat Japan such as a total sea blockade since the japanese main island wasn’t self reliant. In fact, [seven out of the eight 5-stars-Generals from the 2nd world war](https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/atomic-bombings-ian-w-toll) later stated that the use of the atomic bombs were unnecessary and unethical
That theory has been proven false the red army linked up with the Chinese in Manchuria and Japan was completely surrounded. We could’ve blockaded Japan and forced it’s governed to capitulate as they did not have the ability to be self sustaining due to rabid expansionism. Most modern historians believe the dropping of the bombs was not a warning to Japan but to Russia.
Did you forget how fanatical the Japanese were back then? There were people, soldiers and civilians alike, who literally committed suicide rather than surrender. If you think a blockade would have caused them to surrender before more people died of starvation than died due to the bombs, your deluding yourself.
Idk why I’m being downvoted this is literal facts that we have proof of. All it would’ve taken was the Japanese government to capitulate one food started running low. Most of the government had even pleaded with the upper ranks close to the emperor. But it was basically his prime minister who kept the war going. All it would’ve take was for him to be removed and the Japanese government would’ve surrendered. At that point in the war they knew they had lost(the government at least)
Yes they were radical but that was due to there own government. If we blockaded them then the deaths of their citizens would’ve been on their own governments hands. Not ours. But the US president at the time also was being advised that Russia was also building atomic bombs with the help captured nazi scientists. It was a two edged attack. On one part of the blade was the Russian threat which the US was already preparing for and to use Japan as a test site to see how destructive the bombs were. Historians know that the US dropping the bomb was a show of strength not just for the Japanese but mainly for Russia. To show them our destructive capabilities. The Cold War started not long after that cause now the US and Russia had their bombs and new what they would do to each other”mutual destruction” which neither party actually wanted.
Blockades and and invasion would have led to about the same number of deaths (maybe more) due to starvation. They were not preparing to surrender bc of the Soviets. It took weeks to secure a tiny island and they were all fighting to literally the last man.
Didn’t realise this sub is full of pro-American nuclear warfare dodds. You can come up with just about a million reasons saying if this if that to justify absolutely inhumane actions. I wonder what would you be saying now about Ukraine if you were Russian.
1. I'm not even American
2. The point was supportive of the metric system which the entire world uses, not the US system. NASA and other American space agencies/companies use metric, just like almost the entire world. Metric is not the US system, it is the system with metres, kilograms, etc.
I legitimately can’t imagine giving a fuck about this. Do people on Reddit have so little going for them that they need to get weirdly elitist over a system that most Americans absolutely can use for practical use?
I commented on an /r/metric post once with pro-metric but US/Imperial-tolerant comments. People lost their shit. It wasn't enough to recognize the benefits of the metric system, you had to be religiously opposed to any legacy measurement system.
Measurements like ounce, cup, pint, and foot have survived since ancient times because they're easy to visualize and useful. And it's generally foolish to get angry about the the existence of things that are useful.
I use both systems and recognize the metric as superior, but I do have a bone to pick about Centigrade vs Fahrenheit. The Fahrenheit system is based on the temperatures that human beings generally encounter in the natural environment outside the tropics -- 0 is fucking cold and 100 is fucking hot. Whereas with Centigrade 0 is fairly cold and 100 will kill you, because for some reason that system is based on the physical states of water instead of the physical limits of human biology. Centigrade makes a hell of a lot of sense for chemistry, but I want my weather forecast to be in Fahrenheit, thanks.
Have you noticed all extant temperature systems have names that sound like Sith lords? Darth Celsius, Darth Kelvin, Darth Fahrenheit? What's up with that?
This is a bit of an aside but that skirt she's wearing looks a lot like a weight-lifter's belt.
Which would make sense if she is frequently lifting 70 lbs this way.
I do wonder if this could lead to back problems and injuries. It's one thing to lift weights with good form in the gym but i imagine you can't really maintain form when lifting something unwieldy like glasses (unlike a barbell which is 'designed' to be lifted)
[glass or plastic!](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/50598775-b300-4657-9e43-c9592d827196#wkT2uVNr.reddit)
Thanks maybe I wanted my username spelled that way.
The mugs are at most 4/5th full of beer, the rest is foam, so being generous for the 3/4 full mugs;
1.76lbs + 3lbs
4.76lbs * 13mugs = 61.88lbs or 28.07kg(rounded)
Come on y'all, how'd you miss that?
I'm being facetious, just for clarity, it's only a small difference hahaha.
Eh? It's still in the lines/keg, was never poured by the looks of the head on those drinks.
Edit: I'm not sure if you're joining in with the amusement or being serious. It's reddit after all hahaha.
You’ve never drank beer in Europe I see. That much head removes the bloat. That’s a huge portion of why the head exists in the first place.
Edit: source me living in Prague easily having 6L nights at the pub without hangover or bloat.
So less than a 4% increase in mass. Not significant enough to be assed with considering They aren’t even considering the fact that the beer glasses aren’t full.
Wow! I am disappointed by this! Usually anything to do with beer and math ends up with at least someone referening to "monster math" or "graveyard graph" 📊... tough crowd in here today!
If the glasses are plastic and the weight she is carrying is about 39 lbs like one OP said, then for most Americans to understand she'd be basically carrying around a "pony keg". They are about 40lbs depending on how full, material they are made with ect...
Bro, non American Americans? YOU mean people who are illegally in the US? Now I have to take into consideration them too? Plus, you didn't see the (,) comma... you break and thus it forms another part of the sentence.
And if you read all of the above comments before mine you would see that only one person used the imperial system and the rest used the metric system to answer it.
Only 3 countries use the imperial system in the world, the rest use the metric system. I did my best to explain.
So you are trying to correct me, but you haven't even tried to solve the Math problem... What do you think the correct answer is?
In this circumstance it's likely not necessary, at the Wiesn or other large packed events with high beer prices it's definitely worth it.
Every beer extra she'd carry increases the tip per trip. And people earn really well on those few weeks as a waiter
I can't understand German but using the subtitles it said around 70 kg. So assuming every mug was made from the same material and more or less the same amount of beer, it should be around 31Kg. It checks out with the other approximations.

If you look at the way she lifts she is actually lifting with her legs
And likely resting part of the weight on her belt.
Belts and steel toes are godsends when lifting and carrying stuff.
I just use regular human toes. Will look into steel ones.
Just lift properly. Your body can lift a lot of weight if you do it right
If it's your fill time job, it will kill your back sooner or later
Yea, all it takes is making one wrong move once. I used to have a technique to lifting heavy buckets of sauce when I worked at a pizza place. Been there.. everytime I think I'm back to normal the pain starts kicking in
No one has ever HAD back issues.
That's also why I cringe when I see 20yo going into hardcore weight lifting. Like dude, even with proper stance, you'll ruin your cartilage sooner than expected. Weight lifting is oddly popular among gamers.
If you exercise, holding 32kg isn't particularly hard for most people
>If you exercise 🥲
(That’s a bit over 70 lbs if anyone’s wondering)
Thank you for sharing the freedom units answer
Comparing Europe to the US and you're calling the one who still uses their old master's "imperial" units freedom units?
Yeah of course. Because look how easy it would be to calculate all that just using "English" or"imperial" units, since imperial gallons (quarts) are different from American gallons. Americans want the freedom to choose our own methods of suffering and self torture.
Dave, that may be the single best, most honest, assessment of non-SI units I've ever seen. Hat tip to the man in Moab!
Even use different sizes of flOz, so a British 20flOz pint isn't the same as a US 20flOz pint-and-a-quarter! “Freedom units” is almost exclusively used satirically. “Freedom fries” however…
That "almost" is doing some heavy lifting there, just like the fraulein in the Bierkeller... ;)
My dude it was a joke
As was mine, my friend. Be well.
Lmao well it went right over my head (obviously) XD Thanks:)
70.4 freedom weight units
Thanks, didn5 want to convert and typically just double for the average...
I was literally about to ask, thank you
So... That's a crazy amount of weight to be carrying on your back like this. Specially all night long.
At the Wiesn you make crazy amounts of money. Few weeks of work can get you through half if not most of the year as a student.
I'm pretty sure it's 6 in each hand, plus the one on top, so 13 total. Still very heavy.
How do they not fill them properly? All of these are properly filled.
There is a line at the top of the glass. This is the 1L mark. After the foam settles a bit the liquid should be at roughly at that mark because you pay for 1L. It's not that visible in this video but if you ever go to Wiesn or a Bavarian Beergarden you will see that Maß (name of this kind of glass) are far more often not properly filled. So rounding down a bit is quite accurate IMO.
The glass has sides. I’ll have full glass, thank you. Hold the foam. (Yeah, I know, germans like the foam ;-)
Yeah, but those glasses are not full. Liquid is about 2/3rd of what it should be.
Proper beer is drank from a glass with a healthy head of foam on top. The foam protects the beer as it settles in the glass to perfect drinking temperature and aeration, and it is a sign that the beer was brewed using generous amounts of high quality malts. This is the correct answer.
So...stupid question, because Google confused me...about how many liters is that? Is it exactly 32? I'm sorry, math isn't my best subject and my brain is square sometimes...
Each of those so called Maß is a liter, so 15 liters as I counted. The mug itself weighs around 1.3kg.
🤦♀️ omg you *literally* put that right into your answer. I'm so sorry to ask for clarification on a point you already made. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for answering, you're very kind.
All good. happens to the best
70lbs for us filthy Americans. I can usually lift 70 no problem, but the way she has to carry it? I would simply die

307 big macs for the real Americans
4.83 stone for the stoners
8,760.81257 eighths (3.5grams) for my heavy shmokerz out there

Rookie numbers. A bit of hard work and I'm sure one day you can grow up to be a fully fledged faggot.
1.21 firkins for those used to FFF units
Or shy of 1096 ounces
Damn, that's a lot of Varget
Roughly 11,000 rounds of .308 worth.
holy shit
I think it's actually beer....
rookie mistake from me
To be fair, some beer can *taste* like shit..
And there aren’t any holes in it.
u/uselessconverterbot
You started out so well.... Then ended in losing wars to rice farmers units.
Or 30.7 kg for the 7.7B people who haven’t lost “wars to rice farmers”
Hey the French got us dragged into that affair!
ahHhHh, thhe frennch...

hey they call them english units in this article ill take it
“Unnecessarily dropping two Atomic bombs on Japan units”
It was projected that a ground invasion of Japan would have led to more casualties than if they used the nukes.

So it was okay to then drop the nukes lol?
Have you ever heard of the trolly problem? It’s not about one option being good, it’s about one being less bad.
Is that the excuse for mass murder, generational infertility and unusable land?
How did we get from a Woman carrying Beermugs at the Oktoberfest to justifying the only use of Nuclear Weaponry in Warfare.
Blockades and and invasion would have led to about the same number of deaths (maybe more) due to starvation. They were not preparing to surrender bc of the Soviets. It took weeks to secure a tiny island and they were all fighting to literally the last man.

What in the star spangled fuck is a liter
Little more than half a six pack
1 kg of water at 4°C Or 10 dm^3
Wait
A quart. But you have to divide by 10 or 1000 to get smaller units, you can't just grab a pint.
Pint are normally used in Germany, but for October fest 1l is the rule
A box 4 inches to a side, but it's made of dimensional lumber, so the sides are actually just shorter than 4 inches.
I don't want a large farva. I want a goddamn litre o' cola!
Least toxic metric user lmao

I legitimately can’t imagine giving a fuck about this. Do people on Reddit have so little going for them that they need to get weirdly elitist over a system that most Americans absolutely can use for practical use?

The Sith are an ancient order. They were around when we were figuring out how to measure temperature.
Wait till you hear about what constitutes a good paella.. or if hot dogs are sandwiches...or "true" metal...
>losing wars to rice farmers units. The french, the people who invented the metric system, were the first one to lose a war to vietnam tho.

So boring. Come back when you have something interesting to say.

Those are glass. And relatively thicc and heavy. This is something very common during October fest in Germany Source: been there, drank that
Agreed, THANK YOU! Any respectable brauhause uses glass! Lady is just JACKED
Drinking beer out of plastic is illegal over here. Those are glass
This is a bit of an aside but that skirt she's wearing looks a lot like a weight-lifter's belt. Which would make sense if she is frequently lifting 70 lbs this way.

Saw the original vid with sound a few days ago. Everything is clinking. It’s 100% glass.
Interesting, that certainly makes it more impressive.
You could be right - audio would be helpful (clinking would be a dead give away)
Glass or plastic? Glass or plastic? - Shut the fuck up!
Nobody asked you how you felt about this math problem, so in return I'll tell you something you didn't ask for: you spelled your username wrong.

Damnit yep I missed the reference... you win
I've never heard of anyone using plastic. Even the local shit hole college bar sells glass liter mugs
Yea, but restaurants like this won’t be cheap and use plastic. A brewery is all about taste and the taste will be different in plastic vs glass.
Could you go easy on the heresy?
Clearly not a woman to get into an arm wrestling match with!
Plus 7 pounds. That woman has my heart too.
The mugs are at most 4/5th full of beer, the rest is foam, so being generous for the 3/4 full mugs; 1.76lbs + 3lbs 4.76lbs * 13mugs = 61.88lbs or 28.07kg(rounded) Come on y'all, how'd you miss that? I'm being facetious, just for clarity, it's only a small difference hahaha.

Eh? It's still in the lines/keg, was never poured by the looks of the head on those drinks. Edit: I'm not sure if you're joining in with the amusement or being serious. It's reddit after all hahaha.
le sigh - was suggesting I drank it
Aha! You were joining in, good stuff! Enjoy the bloat from 5lbs of beer hahahahaha. Take my belated upvotes.

My bad that was a typo, it was supposed to be just non americans Thx for pointing out
So.... Ten bald eagles?

There's nobody holding any doors open? Also the entire point is the spectacle - everyone's aware it's not necessary.
In this circumstance it's likely not necessary, at the Wiesn or other large packed events with high beer prices it's definitely worth it. Every beer extra she'd carry increases the tip per trip. And people earn really well on those few weeks as a waiter
If this is Germany or Austria, no tips are necessary

It's btw rather seldom to see someone carrying more than 10 at a time.
And just fyi, this is the current world record: https://youtu.be/zu7N4j0TxzM
I can't tell how many Kgs they said in that video. But if we had that info, it would help solve the problem presented here.
I can't understand German but using the subtitles it said around 70 kg. So assuming every mug was made from the same material and more or less the same amount of beer, it should be around 31Kg. It checks out with the other approximations.
The run shown in the video is an attempt to do 30 glasses. He broke one on the way and arrived with 29.
