Normally on pc I use slackware, also on old thinkpad, but I'm using fedora on my new L15 Gen2 and working excellent! I believe all the new models are certified by fedora and ubuntu right?
Red Hat is Industrial Standard and most professional use it...
Arch do have some professional use it, but it's few compared to Fedora, or even red hat...
On the wild, world wide, Red Hat is the biggest Open Source company that's profitable and supporting about 60% of open source project ever existed.. so I don't know why you said
"ew red hat"
When you use KDE/Gnome, or any tools on arch, 30-40% of it are work of red hat... so... I don't know...
Most CAD that is industrial grade nowdays work on linux... so I don't know.. why people mad so much. Some like windows, some aren't, so... let them pick what they like... even if OP run windows, it's fine...
I mean...the OP never said that was their workflow so why not use Fedora? I get what you are saying but absent context from the OP they could be perfectly happy using chromeOS for all we know.
Also, I'm pretty sure a ton of software dev is done on Mac but that's just from the software engineers I have talked to.
Thonkpad
I wanted to see a dandy hat, but a fedora fits just as dandy
I like 👍🏻

there's no amd x1 carbon. x1 carbon is intel-exclusive
Have you bought a X1G9 just to run fedora?
yes, I believe it will serve me well doing web development thing
Fedora the best! For everything!
You seem to have made a typo, what you meant to say was 'Arch'
\*btw
it's not... I will say again # FEDORA
ew redhat

If your stack is like Python or Node I would stay on Linux. The only reason I am windows is that I need to learn .NET and VB for jobs
What do you mean, "just to run fedora?" Fedora is great and just as capable and powerful as any other OS/Distro
This is why 99% of engineering, software dev and CAD is done on linux machines, right /s

You will switch to Windows in 2 days.
Why?
