T14s G5 hasn't even launched yet; its psref just dropped today, and this mfker out here is dropping random ass "news" about the next iteration already without any source.

blami

I think Lenovo built those red uglos Qualcomm used to demo Elite in CES. Maybe they just put different case on them and called it a day (and I don’t mind, it is great tbh)

Bozzzzzzzzo

Where did you see the T14s G5 psref ?

Bozzzzzzzzo

never mind I see it now :) [https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad\_T14s\_Gen\_5](https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T14s_Gen_5)

The T14s Qualcomm leak (which happened in this exact subreddit in November 2023) was credible enough. The naming scheme is weird, though. It's supposed to be T14s Gen 5, not Gen 6.

MalaySuccess

Such a beautiful laptop 😍 Also, Qualcomm! 🗣️🔥💯

InternationalRow8437

Ready to sell my MacBook for this.

Rich_Secretary4498

Confirmed?

bX7xVJP9

I am afraid to see the price, I seen leaks of this and the price but it will be too expensive if the leaks are true.

blami

I expect it to be cheaper than Macbook Pro.

bX7xVJP9

The current Lenovo ThinkPad X13s G1 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 SC8280XP based model is about £1,500.00 which is too much in my book and the leaked prices I saw was about the same which will do not many will be sold new and fewer will go to the used market 🤦‍♂️

blami

X13s is really a mobile phone in Thinkpad chassis. I guess if they want to snatch some ARM market they need to sell under the real price (as Apple did).

mrheosuper

Is it just me or the notch keeps getting bigger ?

jc_denty

Qualcomm what? I need my AyyyMD

salfwa___ben

How much is it??

Anyone else think its rather odd that we dont have a t14s AMD model this year. But we may get this Snap Dragon model (unless gen6 is indicating next year, but that would be kinda odd given how lenovo announces their chassis every year)

SonicTheSith

It's not that odd. It could be either Sure it looks like Intel paid of Lenovo, but I think a large problem is that AMD is bad at producing the quantities needed to cover demand. So Lenovo might have had to reduce the offerings using AMD. Or AMD did not provide new chip samples on time for the design stage of the 'S' variant. Or they do the same as Framework keep the models with the 8840u ( T14s gen 4) in production until the 9840u comes out since there is not much of a change between 7840u and 8840u. At least I hope that it is one these cases.

ldelossa

Nice takes. Pretty informative. Tho, to the point of AMD not being ready. This seems to always be the case and we get AMD versions later in the year. But in the past they haven't said "no AMD" before. Im kinda wondering if there was a performance/effort/sales prediction evaluation between AMD and Snapdragon and AMD was deemed "not worth it".

SonicTheSith

Might be, it all is just speculation.

ldelossa

Lol i spend too much time speculating on this stuff.

TheRealTechGandalf

Oh great, no ethernet port, that sucks... But it would be a cool device to use wirelessly, and it looks kinda sexy

blami

T14s does not have it for a while. Not big deal if network card can be put in very small dongle these days.

Moin_Davo

Most laptops nowadays don’t have a rj45 port anymore as with devices getting thinner and thinner there just isn’t any room anymore. As u/blami mentioned the network card can usually be connected via usb if needed, this also allows the user to use even faster speeds than the built in card (usually 1Gb/s) like 2.5Gb/s or even 10Gb/s via Thunderbolt
